Confessions That Destroy Your Gamer Credibility

I've completed all of the Souls games many times but recently decided to start a new run through the first Dark Souls with a cheat engine activated, just so I could play around with different weapons etc. Despite infinite souls and consumables, and a vastly over-levelled character, I somehow managed to be squished by the Gaping Dragon 3 times before I beat him.

I think The Witcher is a terrible game franchise.

Also, Fallout 3 and 4 are both better than the slog that is Fallout New Vegas.

I've never played more than a few hours of any Zelda game to date.
I've never beaten a Mario Bros. game.
I never got past Matador in Nocturne (hope to rectify that this year and actually do a full playthrough of it over the summer)
I haven't finished Chrono Trigger (I am at the very end of the game tho)
I haven't finished FFVI (same situation as Chrono Trigger)

Here we go. Some of this might fit better with one of those unpopular opinions type of threads but whatever.

Never played more than 2 hours of a Zelda game. I have purchased Oot, WW, and BotW.

I have never played Super Mario 64 but I think Sunshine and Galaxy are amazing games.

I don't understand any of the popularity behind Counterstrike.

Halflife 2 was just okay and I don't feel I need to see any end to that story.

I really liked Dark Souls 1-3 but don't like Bloodborne or Demons Souls.

I've never played a Final Fantasy game outside of the MMO (which I am enjoying)

Never played a Kingdom Hearts game.

I think Halo 3 is the best FPS of all time.

Sonic Adventure Battle 2 is my favorite Sonic game.

Luigi is better than Mario.

Army of 2: Devil's Cartel is a great third person shooter. The gunfights are great. The hockey masks are dope. It feels so good shooting the bad guys.

I couldn't beat the final boss in Metroid Prime. I gave up :-(

I remember having hard time to beat it.
If my memory don't fail me, i think it take around 20 minutes to beat it.

Talking about credibility and Metroid.
I've said to a friend la week that Prime was an hard game and he said "No its not hard"

Oh I've never owned a PlayStation console, and they never were worth owning before seeing the past line up of the PS4 to me, and even then I still haven't pulled the trigger on it.

I haven't played Final Fantasy 7, Resident Evil 4, or Shadow of the Collosus

My three gaming regrets. I know I could go play them now, but gaming as an art form is still very much in its infancy, and I don't think I'd be doing any of them proper by experiencing them now.

I rag on open-world games for being bloated with content retreads and filler, but have five max-level characters in World of Warcraft: Legion and will forever be a diehard fanatic of the Warcraft MMO universe, gobbling up every new piece of content no matter how blah.

I have over 10k hours logged into the damn game.

If an art style is off-putting enough, it ruins a game for me. I finished Ocarina of Time, but man, does that game (and Majora) look and sound TERRIBLE. I can't bring myself to play them anymore. I would never regard myself as a 'graphics whore', but man, when it's that bad, I can't get into a game.

-Halo 4 is the best Halo campaign

-Final Fantasy 6, while it used to be one of my favorite Final Fantasy games, has since dropped to mid-tier after recent replays.

-Metal Gear Solid Twin Snakes is better than the original MGS.

-Zelda BotW, while a fun game, is easily one of my least favorite Zelda games. It doesn't even feel like Zelda.

Soulsborne games do nothing for me, I have no desire to try them.

edit (just seen the post above):

-Metal Gear Solid Twin Snakes is better than the original MGS.

Ha, I agree. I dig the over-the-top cinematics and don't think that the re-recorded voice work takes anything away from it. And 1st person view really only ruined one part of the game (
Ocelot boss fight
). TTS > OG MGS

I never was able to get into Bloodborne despite trying several times. Just the horrible framepacing and framedrops makes it unplayable for me.

Cheated through the entire Dark Souls 3 on PC using savegame backups.

But just finished Nioh + DLC and loved it.

I'm in a similar boat.

I quit each of the Souls games after a few hours.

I lasted about 20 hours in Bloodborne before giving up.

Am about 45 hours into Nioh and loving it

-I consider that TLOZ Skyward Sword is quite superior to BOTW in terms of Story, weapon crafting, gameplay (i love motion controls) and boss fights.

-I bought an Xbox 360 back in the Wii days just to play NFS Hot Pursuit

-Always wanted a PS4 but i ended buying a Switch and i have no regrets

-MGS The Twin Snakes its better than the original

-Diddy Kong 64 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>MK 64

-I finished Superman 64

I thought Crusader Kings 2 sounded super cool, and decided to give it a shot.

After an hour of being totally lost, I never played it again.

Nothing can destroy my gaming credibility, I'm too awesome.

Oh, wait, I've got one: online sucks. I'm not currently a subscriber of any online gaming services, don't like playing online, and haven't done so since I don't know when.

Hmm, I often give up on games after just few hours. My Steam library is full of games I've only basically tried and then uninstalled. Worse than that though is playing longer and then quitting when I'm already close to the end. So not finishing or giving a proper chance to most games is my badge of shame I guess.

Edit: Maybe the best example of quitting at the end would be Final Fantasy 7, played it atleast for 70 hours maybe 80. Got right in the end, jumping down on the steps. Battle begins and some floating asshole just oneshot wipes my party. I wasted my save point too early and really couldn't be arsed to replay stuff, so I never played the game again. Saw the ending at my friend years later though. Kinda crazy that it's been 20 years and I'm still salty about it.

I couldn't finish The Last of Us cause I got too scared/frustrated early on.

But I've also beaten SOMA and Amnesia...so maybe I should try revisiting it.

PC gaming is overrated.

*slowly raises flame shield*

Also if that doesn't do it, Persona 5 is my first Persona game and I'm playing it right now with a guide.

I own a modern gaming PC, but hate playing games on PC. I use it for dev work and photography stuff but always feel guilty about having it.

I've own almost all the MGS games but only have finished 5.
I've never finished a FF game, and have sunk 20+ hours into 7,10, and 15.
I preordered Bloodborne, was super excited for it, and still haven't finished it.
I've played every Pokemon game but never finished B/W2 nor Sun/Moon.
I've only finished 2 Mario games, 3D World and 3D Land.

I've never played Link to the Past or Mario 64, outside of like the first 5 minutes of each when at a friends's house or something.

I keep Smart Steer on MK8D only because it doesn't save the settings to be off.

I don't care, I 3 starred all cups in 150CC on the Wii U version.

Well congratulations! You got yourself caught!
From childhood to adulthood, I have NEVER been able to successfully do the infinite stairway koopa 1up loop in SMB1.

- I love RE6 and I don't think there is anything wrong with loving that game. (a lot of people think otherwise)

- I've never played a Zelda game.

- Resident Evil 2 is the only mainline RE game that I haven't played.

- I want REmake 2 to have RE4-6 TPS style of gameplay.

- Despite loving Onimusha series and God Hand, I've never finished any of them.

- I really liked FFXIII-2 and Lightning Returns. I also very much enjoyed and even platinumed FFXV.

- For the longest time I disliked MonHun without actually knowing much about it.

- I've never done a NG+ run in the Souls series. (I finally did this with BB)

I'm playing Nier Automata on the easiest difficulty level and let the game basically play itself. I don't care about the fighting, and I just wanna enjoy the story and the drama, while winning some trophies without any effort.

I support and respect this decision.

I never earned a single platinum trophy. I look at my friends list and nearly all of them got at least one.

I summoned random people to help me fight through most of the bosses in both Dark Souls 2 and 3. I also over-leveled my character in easier areas.

The only souls game I solo'd was Bloodborne and Demon's Souls because I didn't have an internet connection.

The Dark Souls series I abused summoning heavily.

The first time I played and beat Megaman 2 was on a flip phone.
