Phantom Dust |OT| Out of the ashes, into the Dust

I still don't like that mode, and I can't play anything else in the multiplayer (until I beat the single-player I guess?) sucks.

Go grab the free Multiplayer Starter Pack in the "Online Store" (in the game MP shop) - It will give you a starter set of skills and a 2-school arsenal case so you can jump right into MP.

That's what I did. It still won't let me select modes?

Did you put some skills into the arsenal case? It gives you a 2-school arsenal and I think 99 skills (11 type from 3 schools, 3ea). You then need to go to the Arsenal Lab in MP and create your deck. Then you should be able to join most matches unless they are using specific game rules like "Heavy" or "Puny" and your skills in the arsenal are outside the ruleset.

If you want a deck idea that is made just from the starter kit you can try this one: http://phantomdusted.com/arsenal-lab/arsenal/161

Ah, I had no idea they'd been improved. I played a few Quick Battle matches by accident, and I was surprised that the builds seemed way better than I had remembered.

Thanks! Yeah, we were playing them in the beta at first and Collected Dust asked if they could be changed for the re-release since some were not that exciting. We were hoping these would make for a more fun-to-play and balanced set of arsenals.

This game is great! This is my first time playing it. The game caught me off-guard when I used one of my first attacks and it destroyed an entire walkway.

Awesome 😂

Ok, so I've got PD up and running again, was an issue with my external hard drive it seems.

I'm gonna attempt to finish up the SP tonight and go for the accompanying achievements, and then all day tomorrow ill be hosting lobbies for people who are attempting to 1000g the game.

That fixed it. Also had the cash to get a 1 and 3 school Arsenal. Shame the multiplayer and single-player is no longer linked. :/ Got like 80 skills in Multiplayer compared to the like... 150 or so in single-player.

That's great that you got it going! The credits and skills you earn in SP are supposed to be available to you in MP.

Well, I don't think it's counting the ones I bought through Mac in the single-player. I'm using my cash (after using Junk to fill up in the early game) to get the skills that I have 0 of and MP isn't counting those it seems.

Ahh, yeah, that makes sense. Just items you earned as rewards.

I'm trying to burn through the single player to get as much money as I can before I hop online, but gawd dayum are there a ton of single player missions.

How many chapters are in the game?

I'm currently at chapter 4. This game is great, I can totally see why people was praying it.

A new game with smoother gameplay/animations/movements and modern graphics would be dope. You could even build a proper full campaign, kinda like a pokemon game.

Having trouble joining other people or having people join me.

on pc version, did my best to open xbox live ports but it's still not helping.

Any ideas?

Which sucks. As I don't recall the X-box version locking them into two separate modes. I guess it's for MS to try to pawn off their microtransactions for the multiplayer, but still dumb.

God damn this game looks great. Still in love with the art direction (the main thing that drew me to it in the first place) i love the character designs and overall it looks oddly great in the remaster... I was kinda expecting "ps2 on ps4" style "uprendering" where it looks kinda okay... But fuck, if i didn't know this was an xbox 1 game, i would believe if you told me it was an xbox one game...

:p

Does anyone have issues with going fullscreen or borderless windows? I can't seem to get it to go borderless. I've tried using Borderless Window (the app), but that didn't work.

I saw ppl saying Alt+Enter works but I have no clue. Haven't tried it on pc yet.

I don't remember this from the original either tbh and its pissing me off. Literally doesn't seem to be any point in playing sp. Money doesn't carry over either.

When I went into multiplayer and looked at the arsenal, i see the skills I bought in SP. Seems like a glitch for you and them.

Everything you earn in SP does to go to MP, but not the other way around, so yeah that is weird. Try mentioning it to Adam Isgreen on twitter if it keeps up.

Also, after running some errands I'm gonna be hosting matches later for people interested in getting that 1000g. Probably closer to 3:30 or 4:00 EST, I'll put a LFG post up in PhantomGAF and mention it here again when the lobby is open.

Edit: Now that was quick.

The game logic is linked between MP and SP. All your SP earnings (skills and credits) transfer / add to your MP stash, so every skill earned in SP should show up in MP, and all credits earned in SP add to your MP total. The only thing that won't transfer is arsenal cases.

You cannot however buy something on the MP side and use it in SP - that's for balance reasons for the campaign in how it introduces skills. But, that also means credits don't deduct from your SP side when spent in MP.

If you're not seeing skills earned in SP transferring into MP, then something is not working correctly - there's no forced agenda here - that's a bug if you're experiencing it. PM me with steps / platform and I can see if there's an issue.

Is anyone else experiencing times when SP skills aren't transferring to MP? I just loaded the game up and bought a bunch of Psycho Knives in SP, immediately switched to MP and everything was there as it should be.

Don't forget that when you put skills into arsenal cases, they deduct from your total available in the tally screen, so even if you have 5, if 3 of them are in cases at the moment, it'll show 2 available, not 5.

I think they could make a really good campaign, but they would have to have slightly different mechanics for single and mult for it to make sense.

For single player I;d want;
- Open world, or at least connected zones with some continuity.
- Skill trees for some sort of RPG progression in the campaign. Save the 'decks' for the multiplayer.
- A strong narrative, the premise has a lot more story to tell.

Game has so much potential.

I need to put my thoughts down on this game.

I can't believe this game went so under the radar back in the day. My first time playing last night went into 2AM and I didn't want to put it down. Haven't played Multiplayer yet as I want to beat the single player first.

I don't care much for how a game looks graphically. Put an old PS2/Xbox game in front of me and I'll say it looks cool/good. Phantom Dust looks great to me. Obviously it can benefit from modern upgrades to textures but as is everything looks great.

30FPS is a very tiny downside to this game when structures start to collapse, but it sorta adds to the game I think as it very slightly gives you more time to think about your next move while there is debris flying. 60FPS would make this a more fast paced game and I think that can be saved for the next one.

Only partway into Chapter 3 right now and the story hasn't lost me yet. I want to know Edgar's connection to Freia, who Alpha is/was, and the whole lore behind why everyone needed to move underground and why staying on the surface too long makes you lose memories. One thing I might not like (more of an annoyance) is Freia constantly referring to "him". Just stop please.

Onto Arsenals, only just got them but having more freedom over what I can bring into a game is fun.

Overall, the gameplay took a little bit getting into but the fun factor is there in full force. I did not want to put it down, I didn't feel like dragging myself through Chapters 1 and 2 just to get my Arsenal, and I was happy just playing the game as it was up to that point. (Fuck the Chapter 2 boss though. Had too much trouble on that than I'd like to admit)

Unfortunately, I have a busted TV and it can't play audio, so I have zero idea how good the music or voice acting is. I will need to look up the cinematics and OST on YouTube.

Congrats MS, you've made a fan for this game. I want a modern game in this universe. But, I want it F2P. I think a sequel that is free, focuses on the "card battle" aspect while still being an action game co-op multiplayer, with single player encounters to progress through a story and try out new skills, and periodic content drops can be a success. It doesn't need to be a AAA production, it just needs to get the message out there about a unique game that is free to try on PC/Xbox.

It's really nice to see all the people who are finially able to experience this game.

Let's hope the right people are reading these words, because this IP has so much potential. I agree with pretty much everything said above.

I missed the timing during a training mission, but I'm assuming you could use About Face on a projectile and they could send it back with another About Face or reflection?

No, it's really the same thing if you think about it. All the money and skills you earn in SP are available to you in MP. You just have to spend the credits in MP just as you did in SP. The reason they did this is because MP was walled off in the original game and the skills available in MP were tied to your SP progress. This is not the case with the re-rerelease, MP and all skills in MP are available from the start. They didn't want those skills to flow back into SP and have the player overpowered. The way it is now lets a player play through SP as it was intended, but still gives people the option of hopping into MP right from the start.

It seems the counter is bugged. MP had a few skills registered but SP's number is higher.

I'll PM you the images to show you what I mean.

Just curious, how many of you have spent any money on this game? I got the 300 card pack and then spent $2 on some extra money to buy an arsenal case. I plan on putting more money in when I can, just to show my support. Because I honestly don't know if ppl just playing it will be enough for the higher ups to accept a sequel. I think they'll want to see money can be made from it as well. I hope I'm wrong tho.

A problem I have is that I often end up falling from the map due to the bad map design or clunky movement mixed with lock on camera.

I got the 300 card pack so I could get my old arsenal back asap, and will probably throw in more just for support.

What a glorious game. Im currently on chapter 4 and i´m loving every second of it, building arsenals and trying out all the skills is addicting. I will definitely be putting money into it once i jump online.

Nice. Glad to hear I'm not the only one spending money on it. I'm gonna try to get on tonight around 730pm PST if anyone else thinks they'll be on, feel free to add me. I need lots of the multiplayer achievements still. Lol

When does the single player introduce environmental skills?

Chapter 6 or 7. IIRC. There's earlier missions with JD in Chapter 5 that'll show them off, but they aren't in the store then.

Note: You can get "In a Match" achievements OFFLINE (outside of the monsters, modes, and map selection ones anyway)

3x Ki Cannon
3x Level Boost
27xAura Particles

Simulator: Arsenal (tutorial for starting out with Arsenal)

Got the 21+ damage achievement from it.

Should I play this game through for SP? D/led it and did not find out that the game is locked to 30 fps. I can play 30fps games fine on consoles on a TV, but on PC, I guess with a very low input lag monitor, it just feels like I'm playing a 10 fps game.

For a remaster, it really seems half assed.

the sp is a solid story and teaches you all the game's mechanics

re: 30 fps. They actually don't have the source code to Phantom Dust, and the game is too hardcoded in multiple places to expect 30, so it wasn't possible to make it go to 60.

It's not a remaster. They never called it that. The source code was lost and they had to re-engineer everything.
I personally liked the campaign, it has a great story.

I never did finish it back on OG Xbox. I'm looking forward to actually finishing it and understanding the story. :D
