No Man's Sky Has Some Kind of Cryptic ARG Happening Right Now

Edit 4
https://www.reddit.com/r/NoMansSkyTheGame/comments/6fny4y/706s7274616p_says_portal/
"Okay, so if you take 706s7274616p and apply ROT13 to it you get 706f7274616c which is a valid hexadecimal value. Converting HEX to ASCII says... You guessed it, 'portal.'
Online ROT13 converter: http://rot13.de/index.php Online HEX to ASCII converter: http://www.rapidtables.com/convert/number/hex-to-ascii.htm"

Interesting...this is the 7th tape.

According to reddit a sentence was earlier datamined from the game, in which 'portal' is the 7th word:
The world that lies beyond the portal seeps into my mind.<lf> <lf>It beckons and calls out to me. The pathway to the unknown wants to be opened.

This is getting exciting!!

Reading a post on the subreddit stating that if any of the recipients of tapes don't wish to share the tapes with anyone else for whatever reason, HG has anticipated that and will help this along in those cases where need be. So guessing that means there will be a point where HG determine it's time to fill in the blanks for this ARG should it not be resolved by the community. We are definitely close to finding out about the next game update!

Portals are neat, but pretty low on my list of things I'd like to get me back in the game. I never even ran into one in the wild.

Fuck yeah.

Game is perfect for VR.

They need to add more variable flora/fauna/biomes. For a game with 16 quadrillion planets or whatever it is, you can pretty much see everything within about 30 planets.

I know it's not possible with the way their system is set up but I want flowing water god dammit. It would be so cool to come across rivers and massive waterfalls and shit. Argh.

I actually haven't played much of NMS since the bases patch came out (plays a fucking ton of it before that though) aside from bases and the rovers, what else have they added?

In the end they just want to make the game interesting again so they can charge you for DLC. Shmucks.

Based on the fact they've added DLC for months now at no extra charge. Nice going, Sherlock.

Personally I can't wait to see what this is. I'm dying to play it, but want a little more to do.

Yeah, agreed with the flowing water/lava.

Aside from bases and rovers they added freighters you can buy, as well as a lot of new weapon/item recipes and some new elements. And lots of tweaks to the proc gen system.

I'm hoping the next update will focus on improving space and ground combat, as it's pretty terrible right now. Improvements to the diversity of flora and fauna are really needed too. Also making factions more meaningful, political alliances and such. But the #1 needed thing is a dynamic job system to provide more short-term player goals.

I still play this and will follow along. I'm still hoping for the update that gives us real time rotations, better skies and different stars.

Space engine like.

Planets with multiple biomes? That's what I really want out of NMS, along with ships that control/function differently and ways to play that don't make you do the same thing over and over (IE land on planet, find materials, fill jump power and jump, rinse repeat).

You should have been able to play how you wanted and get to the center of the universe via trading, fighting, harvesting resources, etc, not forced into harvesting materials.

I think waiting on this game was the right thing to do... I played about 2-3 hours of it and never went back but I kept it.

Been sorta keeping an eye on the updates. Hopefully whatever this update is it makes the game great now.

Man, I've say time and time again that I should really come back to the game, but I would like to start over from the beginning and that kinda dampen my enthusiasm.

Also, they haven't modified the amount of fuel you need to take off, right? 25% was too much per launch :/

How can anyone get excited for a Hello Games anything anymore?
I absolutely love the game, according to those emails that Sony sent out it was my most played game of the year. I'm really excited to see what else is added to the game as we move forwards.

No Man's Sky is the game I keep coming back to in-between other games or when I just want to relax and not play something stressful or involved.

I'm glad they are continuing to support it.

I can only hope for a VR mode given that Elite Dangerous looks like it's going to ship on the PS4 without one. Probably not doable though given the lack of power in the base PS4.

Yeah, 10 months later it still finds its way into my rotation semi-regularly. I haven't even fiddled with base building yet, I just throw on Spotify and lose my self in the stars, searching for that special planet to call home.

Does his best thinking in the flying car
While c64 did support cassette drives, the big push was for the 1541 disk drive

I for one welcome our VIC 20 overlords

OT, I was a disappointed launch buyer, but have been watching these updates and feeling some encouragement re: jumping back in

Maybe after this update
