Shenmue 3 delayed to 2nd half of 2018.

Glad Yu came out and announced it himself. Obviously the right decision, you can't rush a game like this. Did anyone ever expect it would make a 2017 release date?

Glad the game isn't being rushed. Carry on.

I mean that's kind of a bummer but also, it's probably a good thing. I want it to be as good as it can be, so I say take as long as ya need.

Shenmue is a big game, regardless of how you try to reel it in. I'm still super excited. Guessing at best xmas 2018 though, probably spring 2019, and I won't be complaining one bit.

It will be good for the game in the end. A delay is not a bad thing.

That was always the earliest I expected it.

But hey, Kingdom Hearts III and Shenmue III in the same year. That'll be crazy.

See you in 2019!

Seriously, this game, FFVIIR, Kingdom Hearts 3, Death Stranding; I don't expect a single one of them before 2019. There'll be plenty of other games to play in the interim.

I think the end of 2017 was always too ambitious for Shenmue III. I backed it expecting not to play until 2018, to be honest.

I'm just happy they're making it. This and Bloodstained can take all the time they want, because I'm 99% sure I'll love the final result.

Happy to wait for this game. Didn't expect it this year. Hopefully we see some more footage in the next few months and an announcement of the HD Remakes from Sega.

It's more likely the reason is simply the December 2017 target was given before they tripled their 2 million goal. The scope/length of the project had to be expanded to accomodate that (even if they were expecting it to exceed 2 million from being at the conference).
That's true because with more money, they can use it to sustain a longer development time.

Did they mention if the KS DLC, S3 WORLD TELECOM will be made available at a later date?

Take your time.

But damn, now i understand why E3 2015 was called the E3 of dreams. Indeed those games are still a dream.

Kingdom Hearts III, still long way from release,Final Fantasy VII R same and now Shenmue 3 too.

Shocking.
But the question is, where will they get the money to keep the production one more year? From a remasters sales? Sega funding?

Awesome. Keep up the announcements, hopefully next month it's delayed till 2020.

Gimme a quality Shenmue.

Put out some remasters for more cash if it's easy.

The December 2017 date was set when they were aiming to make 2 million (though probably expecting a bit more on top of that, but not the 4 million more they did make). They made 6 million so they should easily have enough funds from the Kickstarter to extend the production over a year longer.

I feel like I'm in a parallel universe. Not that I'm complaining, but I'm pretty sure this is the first ever news of a game delay (especially a Kickstarter one) I've seen around here to be met with such accommodating reactions.

Power of Shenmue?

Not surprising, but it's for the best. A few more months don't make much of a difference for those who've been waiting for so long for this games. Specially if there's a Shenmue HD announcement in the coming weeks.

Maybe they will release the HD remaster of the first two titles this fall then. Would be a great move since I was not able to play these titles when they released them back in the days, but I'm genuinely interested into getting into the shenmue saga.

A little disappointed, but honestly, most expected it around mid 2018 at the earliest.

Yu is probably realising that his team is smaller than we he was in Sega. By all accounts 2017 was ambitious.

At least we will be getting a trailer next year, maybe a demo for the backers around E3.

I just need to keep alive for another 18 months.

Just push it to PS5 launch instead and beef it up some more, don't release this game on a console that will soon be replaced.
