Odyssey: 7 minutes
Splatoon 2: 4 minutes
FE Warriors: 2 minutes
Xenoblade 2: 5 minutes
Mario X Rabbids: 6 minutes
Zelda DLC: 2 minutes
Pokken: 2 minutes
ARMS: 1 minute

That is incredibly safe and very realistic... but they gotta have 2 reveals... please...

Zelda DLC might be Treehouse exclusive.

Heh, MS conference will be over 90 mins long. What could Nintendo have ever possibly show in a 90 min conference

See I don't even get this because Nintendo's output is much much better than MS' purely from a quantity perspective, without even considering the quality.

MS conferences don't need to be 90 minutes. They just fill it with a lot of bullshit you can nap through, overlong stage demos, and third party showcases. To be fair though, at least they have a new console this year to talk about too.

Outside of the obvious Metroid & third party support, I'd like to see specifically Japanese support for Switch - the Vita has far less support in the west than in Japan, and the Switch is doing well in both, so I fully expect that eventually many Japanese devs will switch to the Switch in time.

Because ARMs had a full Direct and reviews are out, Splatoon 2 has had multiple trailers and Pokken was detailed in its original trailer. That and they all have invitational tournaments happening either during E3 or later on and the latter two will almost definitely be shown during the Treehouse. Thinking they'll take up a decent amount of the show is just unrealistic pessimism not based in any actual logic.

Pretty much. The ARMS and Splatoon 2 tournaments are the big showcases for those two games.

Like I said above, I expect unannounced games from Nintendo, but probably no more than two and probably including a second-tier title like a Mario sports or Mario Party thing as one of them. Given that the Wii U had Mario Tennis late in its lifespan, time might have come around for Mario Golf, which had its last installment years ago on the 3DS. Either that or Warioware, given that Game and Wario was 4 years ago and those games can't be that complicated to put together.

Am I the only one curious why people are assuming it'll be exactly 30 minutes? They said about 9:30, which probably could end up going as late as 9:45 (I'd assume if it was longer they'd say about 10)

Also, I don't expect Arms, Zelda DLC, Pokken to be in the showcase at all, and splatoon 2 is pretty iffy as well

And Project Octopath Traveler.

Off topic, but with Lost Sphear, Octopath Traveler and XBC2, the Switch already has garnered a nice lineup of games for (allegedly) a first year and a half (and there will be more of course).
Ah, for some (unknown) reasons, I thought Octopath was 2017.
And isn't Lost Sphear 2017 in Japan ? I heard it was something like October or November, can't remember.
Remember is right between Octoboer and November... damn that's not funny.)

Xenoblade 2

;)
So low........

I don't care, I play Jp version which releases in 2017 8).

Lol @ SMT and NMH coming out in 2018
Yes I guess I typed that a little too fast, let's say 2018+

I'm pretty optimistic about SMT; Persona 5 has already done most of the heavy lifting in terms of HD development for Atlus (demon models being the major one) so they should be able to put it out sooner. I'm gonna wait until TGS to make any definite predictions though.

Would love to see those... but its going to take a while

Well, it's pre-recorded, so I would think they know how long it takes and what time they can start the treehouse stream.

Sure, but have you considered that maybe they're playing coy on purpose to hide the actual length for now? If it was ending at exactly 9:30, why say "about 9:30" in the description

Actually it doesn't feel realistic at all. There's lots of things we're more or less sure to see missing.

And again this 30 minutes might become 35, 40... even if it doesn't say much since it all depends on how it's organised.
It may very well be 30 minutes... and 40 seconds.

If we get puppets or if it's like the last direct, the difference is huge.

I think a lot of people just assume extreme pessimism is "realistic" when it comes to Nintendo which is super frustrating

You're, Lost Sphear is fall 2017 in Japan and early 2018 in the West. The reveal of Octopath didn't give any release date indication, and I don't believe anything has come out about it since.

That's possible, though I think it's more that they can't time things start of the stream and of the treehouse so impeccably that they can say it'LL be exactly 9:30. I'm going with 30 minutes, and will be happy if we get more time!

While I'd love a longer presentation, they could just be covering their asses in the case of technical issues starting the Treehouse Stream?

I mean possibly, but I find it unlikely since you wouldn't know how long technical issues will last and the first setup for treehouse will likely be done during the spotlight

If you consider Lost Sphear releasing this year (Japan) and Octopath shown in January... it's not impossible Octopath also gets released in the same way.
End of the year in Japan (or even late summer ?) and a few months after for the localised version.
Lost Sphear came a little from nowhere.

Maybe, but then Square Enix is kinda putting them up against each other for mindshare, so more spread out releases make sense in my mind. Would love to see them both this year or early next year, though!

Lol that 4chan post. I would love a new Sin & Punishment, but Nintendo wouldn't release a third game in the series right? I mean they're crazy enough, but nah, not going to happen. But man, in just five days we'll know more.

True.
Good thing we'll know the answer soon.
Can we go to the point where we assume Octopath is much more ambitious...

Anyway, I'm never tired of seeing more RPG, gives me a bigger pool to have more chances to find good enough titles : P.

If they go through the direct with the same speed as the last direct we got, I don't think 30 minutes will be an issue. Chances are that they will rapid fire through the 3DS titles while spending an extra minute or so on some Switch titles coming soon. Hopefully though, they will cover some other games that will be a ways off though.

MS conference is 90 minutes because they're showing off new hardware, and games for their existing hardware. It's like if the January Direct, the Directs from the past couple months and the Spotlight were all in one conference.

Nintendo's presentations are also quick as hell, whereas Microsoft has to pause for dramatic effect everytime they show a 10 minute gameplay demo.

Yeah, but thats not conference material thats why they have the treehouse

Huh? How are gameplay demos not conference material? That's basically the vast majority of every single E3 conference ever.

EDIT: Basically my point is they don't have 90 minute conferences BECAUSE they have the Treehouse. If they had a 90 minute conference to fill (which is what you initially suggested they wouldn't be able to do) then they'd clearly put some of those Treehouse demos in that time, which is exactly what every other conference has. Live gameplay demos.

Exactly what I want...personally I don't give a rats ass about almost every big western console franchise, just aren't the western games I want--those tend to be smaller PC exclusives.

I want Nintendo speaking to me and on their A game and 3DS support plus.

The latter will take some transition time--that's how Japan is and how Nintendo is at courting support--and I just hope it is as short as possible.

While I would love to believe you and agree with you, I remember 2015 when we thought they were 'playing coy' by telling us they wouldn't show Zelda

I think he meant Nintendo spotlight vs. Other publishers' live shows.

Ah I see.

Well it's true. Without speaker transitions, lengthy monologues, and gameplay demos, the Nintendo presentation will naturally be shorter than presentations from companies giving regular E3 showings.

As far as we know, the Spotlight will be just as pre-recorded as the April direct, yes?

In fairness, it does work in Nintendo's benefit for these to be pre-recorded. Hell, if it wasn't, we probably would have got the chance to enjoy Robot Chicken and the Muppets help out in the Nintendo Directs.

To be honest I certainly only hope Monolithsoft delivers. Everything else is sweet bonus.

But I'm still smiliing at these people who believed like the guy from Gamexplain, that there migt really only be 4 worlds in Mario Odyssey.
I'm 100% positive Odyssey's trailer is going to facepalm a lot of unprepared people.

I'd like to say the same about Xeno 2 but the "anime" feeling might be enough to play against it.
Déjà vu... after X "faces" and blade 1 SD-whatever.

My guess is that the direct wasn't finalized by the time they wrote the press release.

Guys. I just realized something horrible!

...

This is going to be the first E3 direct presentation without Iwata! We didn't get a direct at E3 last year since it was just Breath of the Wild, but this time around, we got an E3 without listening to Iwata.

It has been almost two years and yet it was still a passing that was too soon. :(

Plinko

Wildcard berths that can't beat teams without a winning record should have homefield advantage
Man the moment it was announced they were only talking about Zelda I didn't even bother watching it. E3 with only one game? lol Huge disappointment, so glad it's different this year.

Last year was phenomenal. The Zelda blowout was great, and Treehouse was fantastic as always.

On a side note, am I the only person who could not care less about getting another Pikmin game?

Nintendo needs to let pikmin go.

Just type it on google if needed.

: ( Damn...

I sure like Mr Koizumi, but I wouldn't say no to some Iwata greatness.
