I have nothing against you, really.
But don't know what does this have to do with a boring LA noir port ;p

I never hyped anything. Nothing against you either, just didn't really appreciate you making stuff up about what I said. I've Given you guys nothing but facts, from specs to games that are coming... in turn I got someone making stuff up about what I said. So thanks for that.

Good for you? What has this gotta do with Nintendo tho?

It has everything to do with defending the "long press conference" format, since Sony has already proven that they can deliver tons of content with limited exec chatter.

E3 is and has always been a competition in the eyes of many gamers and journalists. Just count the "who won E3 2017?" articles that hit after next week. What Sony is delivering in terms of its conference format (not necessarily the games, as that's a matter of personal taste) is just top notch.

Sony has a very different approach. Most of the games show up twice at an E3 event.
In this way they can fill a lot of time (with lengthy stage demos).
It works well for them, since it looks like they have a bigger software output than it really is.
Their last E3 event was excellent. But a big part of the shown games aren't out yet. So they can show it again.

The key is to have enough of what they are showing coming soon (End of 2017) to offset the rest that isn't. If Nintendo gave us a nice peek at what's going on into late 2018 this E3, they'd do something similar with late 2019 content the following. Instead we get a 6 month snapshot and little future hype.

When it comes to Japanese 3rd-parties, I just want to see money where their mouths have been, because the output so far should be bigger and more detailed.

Capcom should have more than USFII and a MonHun port. Atlus can show the Persona 5 love while we wait for SMT. Arc System Works can actually show a game on it. Square Enix can show me something that isn't half-baked as 3 SNES games on a cart or an iffy port of Dragon Quest Heroes.

No more talk, time to deliver.
That's the thing, I don't think Capcom has anymore besides those two for now.
  • Street Fighter V is locked to PS4/PC/Arcade
  • Dead Rising 4 is locked to XB1/PC
  • Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite's dev team already laughed off the Switch
  • It's probably a bit late in Resident Evil 7's life for a late port to be beneficial, but maybe it could be done if the RE Engine ends up getting ported to the Switch (perhaps when all of the DLC for the game is finished)
  • Assuming that Devil May Cry 5 is a thing, I wouldn't consider that to be very likely for a Switch port
As for ASW, while they're bringing BlazBlue (hopefully Central Fiction), I hope they also bring Guilty Gear Xrd: REV 2 & (assuming that it happens) Persona 5 Arena.

So first, can you point me towards the info bolded? Second, there is still that announced game with no confirmed platforms, RE2 Remastered.

So like, what 3rd parties do people want ideally? Japan is already starting to warm up to it, but the West looks to not care as expected.

Everyone keeps saying "3rd parties pls" but I never see examples.
Hypotetically speaking?

Capcom: Monster Hunter, Megaman, Resident Evil, Demon's Crest revival, new Ghosts 'n Goblins, Street Fighter 3 (not at 40€ though)
Konami: Castlevania, PES, Bomberman, Metal Gear (some remake, or at least the HD collection)
Atlus: whatever they make, especially SMT and Persona
Platinum Games: Bayonetta 3, some new ip, Vanquish 2
SEGA: Super Monkey Ball, Sonic, Shenmue collection, Crazy Taxi, Outrun, Daytona USA, Sega Rally
Namco: Tales of, Klonoa, Pac-Man, Soul Calibur
Square: something Chrono related, DQ, KH, FFVI-VII Remake
From Software: Dark Souls trilogy, Armored Core
EA: decent Fifa, Star Wars stuff
Ubisoft: Prince of Persia, 3D Rayman
Activision-Blizzard: Hearthstone, Overwatch, CoD WWII
Take Two: NBA, GTA, RDR, BioShock collection
Obsidian: new rpg ip funded by Nintendo and written by Avellone
Eidos: Legacy of Kain collection+new chapter Soul Reaver style

About 3/4 of this will never happen, but this is the kind of support i'd want.

Here's the quote for MvCI.
I was told they have hit 1080p/60 on all versions, but they're still in the optimization process. No answers on whether Pro/Scorpio will look better or different. Kind of laughed off a Switch version but said there's nothing to announce at this time (don't get any hopes up, it seemed pretty clearly to be a no.) The producer told me the number one thing they want to avoid is another Moridoom scenario where the game stagnates because of issues they didn't foresee but players found immediately.
I was pulling for MvCI on the Switch, but this quote instantly killed any hope I had for it happening.

You do have a point about RE2 Remastered, though.

I certainly wouldn't put much weight into any sort of Capcom game at this rate. Even out of all the things to release on Switch first, they release SFII of all things. As a $40 retail game. Not even a Street Fighter collection, just...Street Fighter II.

I don't think they'd be selling it at $40 if they had anything more impressive on the horizon, at least when it comes to fighting games.

I dunno, I'm pretty bummed by how short this presentation will be. I don't think we're gonna be seeing anything new or exciting. I'd really like to see what they have planned for 2018, but it looks like they're really only gonna have time to showcase their holiday release if it's only 25 minutes. I certainly wouldn't expect much in the way of third party showcases beyond Rabbids.

I felt more excited by Nintendo's last E3 than I do right now. We were still pretty in the dark about Zelda, but we've already got some trailers for Nintendo's heavy hitters this holiday back during the January showcase.

Anything beyond MHXX is a bonus and we may not even get that lol. Hopefully the localisation is quick.

Really taking things personally, aren't we? We're here to discuss Nintendo having a 25-30 minute conference in here. This stuff is pretty fair game in the discussion.

Everybody can have their own style, sure, but it's really annoying when it's arbitrarily different, and clearly less appealing to a lot of fans. We wouldn't have this thread if people weren't a bit upset.

Exactly. I get that Capcom can't port SFV because of Sony, but at least throw in Third Strike: Online Edition & some of the Alpha games (Alpha 3 MAX at the bare minimum) to justify the $40 price tag.

Yeah, the thought of a fighting game featuring iconic characters from comic books and one of the most famous and beloved series in gaming history on a platform that seems to be on its way to become hugely popular amongst the masses is so funny, hilarious even

Konami: Castlevania, Winning Eleven.
Capcom: Dragon's Dogma, MvC, ports.
Take-Two: Borderlands, Bioshock, GTA?
Square: Secret of Mana, FF, any RPG.
Sega: Initial D, Bayonetta, Yakuza.
EA: Star Wars (since it's being held hostage.)
XSEED/ATLUS: EVERYTHING.

Yeah I'd like any of those Take-Two games, especially Borderlands. Would be great in handheld mode playing locally.

I still think the Japanese stuff will start coming to the Switch at the same time as others by next year. Capcpom is really dumb these days besides MonHun so I'm not sure.

Personally how so? Nintendo has been doing it's own thing since... Since they are Nintendo. People act like once the conference is over there will be no tree house, Nintendo will just pack up and head home. Is it clearly less appealing to alot of fans or just he vocal minority? It is ok to like all 3 consoles but to act like all three consoles or their conference should be similar in structure or format is a tad silly imo.

Capcom has a habit of wanting to get in on the action for new platforms as soon as they can, even if what they offer doesn't impress, just to say they were there from the beginning. Last gen was an aberration for them, since it's the first time they weren't. But every other platform in every other gen? They were on it within the first 3 months with SOMETHING, often right at launch.

I hope so too, I've kinda wanted to get into Monster Hunter for a while, and MHXX seems like as good a time as any.

Hell, Capcom just chose the wrong game to swindle desperate Switch buyers. I have no interest in SFII, but I've been wishing for a portable Third Strike Online for years. I probably would've payed $40 just for that.

Of course, a sensible company would've just compiled them in one package, like you said. But Capcom hasn't made business moves that would be considered "smart" or "realistic" for a long time now. I mean, Switch would actually be a great port machine for Capcom if they really wanted to, but I don't see them doing that if they couldn't even bother with SFIV. Or hell, even MvC3, with Infinite on the horizon. That'd be some good brand synergy.

Fair enough. And to your credit, many Japanese developers should have something more to show (or at least say) at this point, but I guess we'll have to wait and see the Presentation. There's gotta be something, right?
...right? :(

Been awhile since I've talked to my contacts about it. As far as I knew last time yes, and like I said previously the PS4/bone versions sounded pretty interesting... tbh my work has been pretty busy and I haven't checked in on where things stand recently with regards to video games.

It seemed pretty much set in stone and due for Second half of 2017 though. I'd be shocked if it's not happening, especially since there were a few other people that leaked it before I confirmed that that was the Rockstar game I was hinting at.

Oh, so they were doing something interesting with the game instead of directly porting it over. I guess I missed that part. I figured it was a simple up-res port. Now, I guess I'm more intrigued.

To be fair, unless there's an exclusive title, other than a reel nobody should expect anything, it'd feel like a waste of time anyway.

There's a bunch of midtier stuff who could really benefit from exposure from Nintendo, especially with Switch's momentum right now.

Gave the name (more or less) of a third party game a page ago, went ignored :(

Oh do you think it will be announced at E3?

I'm hoping for Super Castlevania R & Code Vein.
Zero Escape trilogy or Danganronpa ports will also be nice to have on Switch. (or any VNs)

Code Vein would be a good size title for Nintendo to show but I think it's skipping Switch altogether sadly.

And you bought a Nintendo console lmfao? Seriously didn't the past few consoles teach you anything ?

3DS had decent support and (JP) third parties can't really afford to avoid Switch.

I'm not sure if I'd pay that much for Third Strike: Online Edition (even on the go), but I would have been more than down for a Street Fighter Legacy Collection with USFII, Third Strike: Online Edition, & all 3 Alpha games (plus the ultra high-res art book, which is a genuinely awesome bonus that was thrown into USFII). As for the other two, I'm not sure if they'd want to port USFIV since it'd be the most likely to take some attention away from SFV (seeing as it's the 2nd most recent numbered entry). You have a point about UMvC3, especially with Capcom porting the MT Framework engine to the Switch (though I'd assume that MHXX will use the MT Framework engine, so I guess that won't go to waste).

Honestly, all I want to expect to see is Super Mario Odyssey, and to get 10 minutes of it. I think they wanna go through features, some worlds and items and showcase it to us. Everything else I don't wanna speculate about. I mean, it would be nice to get release dates for Monster Hunter XX and Stardew Valley.

And then I'll look forward to see more gameplay of Mario Odyssey during the Treehouse, and to see gameplay from Splatoon 2, ARMS and Pokken at the tournaments, as I'll probably be buying those.

I'll be content with that. And then look to November or Spring for a Direct going into new game announcements. The only new game announcements that would get me up in arms would be Animal Crossing and Pokémon Stars anyway, and those can wait. So no or little new game announcements is okay to me.

Man, I think I was more excited for E3 last year, even when we knew it was mostly gonna be Zelda. That's not really fair tho since Zelda is by far my favorite gaming IP, but even then I just don't feel that excited. I honestly think it's the pessimism everyone seems to have, it's easier to get hyped when everyone else is. Hyped to see Mario Odyssey at least.

Anyways I don't see why anyone would get excited for anything from capcom, other than MH. Aren't they strapped for cash? I can't see them having so many titles in development to have anything substantial for the switch to show.

Yeah my hype is dead for Nintendo 's E3. Hope they surprise but 25 minutes doesn't seem like enough time to cover games we know about and some cool new surprises.

lol, I'd only pay that since I like Third Strike way too much. Like I said, it certainly wouldn't be a good business strategy! But it's really weird how barebones the SFII port is because it could've easily been a fantastic Legacy collection like you said.

And yeah, we'll probably see plenty of the MT Framework, at least until Capcom decides to make something from the ground up for Switch rather than ports. Even then they still might use it, it's a pretty resourceful engine, especially considering the Switch's power.

Back to the presentation, I really, really hope that we see whatever it is Retro's been working on, even if it's just a teaser. It's been almost 4 years since Tropical Freeze was released, so I think whatever they're working on should be presentable by now.

  • Virtual Console avaible right now, same games as WiiU/3DS, Gamecube games coming Summer 2017, discounts if you're paying for the online service
  • Browser coming in Summer
  • Netflix/Facebook/Youtube apps coming this Fall
  • Nindies reel
  • Zelda BotW DLC 1 trailer, DLC 2 teased
  • Mario + Rabbids trailer, September 2017 release (a longer presentation will be at Ubisoft's)
  • Animal Crossing Mobile announced, releases this Fall
  • Animal Crossing Switch revealed, coming Early 2018, has mobile connectivity
  • Monster Hunter XX coming to West in October
  • TESV: Skyrim trailer, releases November 2017
  • Mario Odyssey presentation and trailer, shows hat mechanic (co-op?), Rabbits villains and new worlds, comes out November 2017
  • Fire Emblem Warriors trailer, release December 2017 (Sept in Japan)
  • Fire Emblem Switch teaser, 2018
  • Xenoblade 2 trailer, deayed for Early 2018 in the West, comes out in December for Japan
  • Pikmin 4 and Metroid teasers, 2018

-Also, some already released western 3rd party game is getting a Switch port, something like Dark Souls, Injustice 2, Steep, Diablo III or the Batman Arkham Collection, and an upcoming game is also releasing day and date on the Switch, CoD WWII maybe? But i don't think these announcements will be during Spotlight.

-I think Pokémon Stars is real, and it's being kept for Fall 2018 as a surprise troll announcement, this way they can milk Sun and Moon assets for three years in a row.

Square Enix.

SE did so much for the DS but their support of the 3DS was relatively paltry. DQ did well on thr 3DS to be fair but it's nothing compared to what the DS got.

I want the Switch to get as much support as the DS did.

These people put their nose up at Xenoblade 2 and actually think in their small mind, inside their Mario and Zelda cocoon, that they're making a good decision by doing that. Hilarious.

What's with talking down to other people? Why would anyone care about a Xenoblade sequel if the first one wasn't for them? Sure, it can turn up at the Spotlight, but I certainly won't care. I'm also no Nintendo fan.

Ah ok. Not into RPGs then. No worries.

If it's less than 30 minutes I want my account banned.

Now I kinda want it to be 29 minutes long :p

Best thing to do is ignore him, he's not right in the head

The lower you set your expectations now, the greater the presentation will be.

A couple of Nintendo E3 conferences directly showed us how untrue that can be

I expect to like FE Warriors and to be blown away by Mario Odyssey and XB2, absolutely confident that both can destroy my (extremely high) expectations. I also expect the show overall to be quite disappointing due to not having many surprises, and huge meltdowns when Retro's new game is not what most of us want/expect (which will also make the perception of the Spotlight more negative).

The Kamiya teasing of w102 has guaranteed e3 will now disappoint :(

He's just trolling.

Oh do you think it will be announced at E3?

No idea what any plans are for e3.

Oh, so they were doing something interesting with the game instead of directly porting it over. I guess I missed that part. I figured it was a simple up-res port. Now, I guess I'm more intrigued.

Yea I talked about it once or twice, I guess you missed it. Not gonna say too much but I had heard a lot more about the PS4/bone version than the Switch version. I've never played LA Noir before, but what I heard about the remaster sounded pretty cool... with regards to the "next gen" versions anyway. We will see.
