Love it. Love it, love it, love it!
Although... it could still be much better. I want it to be much better, as greedy as that sounds. I really hope this turns out to be the best Spider-Man game ever made. So I still have some concerns and things I'd like for Insomniac to improve upon. For one thing, it reminds me a little too much of Beenox's Spider-Man games. This applies to how Spidey zips from point to point and the combat as well. Not that that's necessarily a bad thing, but I was hoping for something totally fresh. They at least seem to do it better. Speaking of zipping from point to point, Spidey's way too stiff when he's doing that. As fluid as his movements are when he's parkour-ing around an office, I believe the rest could still do with some improvement. Combat included. The camera when swinging could definitely use some improvement too. It feels too stiff as well, not really moving along with Spidey, unlike in other games where the camera somewhat follows along and helps make the pendulum movement more immersive. It would go a long way in making this feel like the ultimate Spider-Man experience. Also, Web of Shadows still has the best-looking webs. At least when web swinging.
On the other hand, I'm surprised that Peter is only 23 here, though. They made him sound older with how they constantly said that he's more mature and experienced, etc. Yeah, he is, but that's five years younger than he has been in the comics for a while now, so it feels much younger. And he's somewhat fresh out of college, I believe? But hey, not complaining. The Miles and Ganke cameo at the end of the demo was really cool and unexpected. I didn't catch it at first cause I couldn't make what Ganke shouted, though. I doubt he was included just for show, so I'd expect him to be involved in the story somehow. Perhaps he'll gain his powers in a sequel or something. I doubt he'd suit up in this game. As for Mister Negative, I'm very psyched to see him in the game. I'd love for him to be the main villain, although I'd love for it to be someone else as well. Something like the Batman Arkham games where we have multiple villain storylines is definitely more than welcome. Preferably, though, the main focus would be on the organized crime type of villains, such as the aforementioned Mister Negative. Kingpin is here, so he'll obviously play a role. Would love to see others too, like Hammerhead, Tombstone, and the Enforcers.
Oh, and totally unpopular opinion here: I'm quite happy about the QTE's. I, for one, always liked QTE's and am glad to see them back.
Well, as long as they're not the type to make you do things over and over again if you fail. Seemed like it might be so judging from how they talked about it, and how Spidey was allowed to try again with Mister Negative on his chopper. It would also only be fitting, given how often Spidey has to try again with his webbing and people-saving and whatnot throughout his career in all forms of media.
