25 minutes of Monster Hunter World footage

People should stop referencing data that makes me feel uncomfortable because games get ported to platforms I don't like
The series is still on Switch as well so...they'll live.

Not sure what your post was trying to accomplish other than stirring the console war pot.
He's not completely wrong thou.

The Switch as a system is far from dead but the Switch as a potential purchase for many Hunters is dead. I personally know many Hunters who have been buying Nintendo Hardware just to keep up with the series but they hated doing so because none of them are fans of Nintendo games or what the plataform has to offer. As for me if it wasn't for Pokemon or Metroid without Monster Hunter the Switch would be dead to me too.

We may be looking at a future where MH releases on everything if all these games do well

I do want them to localize portable titles though

Keep your chins up guys! ANd support 5th gen

If people coudnt get in with the other games gameplay I dont see how theyll like mhw. Still i think this is good for monster hunter enthusiasts. Too bad the community will be fragmented on release though I imagine most will be on ps4. The lack of a pc release date to my knowledge is a bummer.

Rumor said also :

Only few weapons are in -> False
Weapons are streamlined--> False
Open World --> False
Qte Galore --> False

Like I said, the rumor was likely from early in the games development. These could have been their initial thoughts of how to westernize the game.

Capcom labels this a open world. The maps are open world. This still stands.

When you hop on the monsters back, I'm not sure if that's been in other games, but the mashing of a button seems similar to a QTE to me. Along with the grappling during that. The rumor said nothing of "qte galor", it briefly mentioned it.

Not all rumors come out 100% true. It could be due to the leaker inserting fake info on purpose, early ideas that got changed, or flat out lies. But if part of the leak is true, how can it be considered a lie?

Seems like the GAF loves to debunk rumors so much, but for me, it doesn't make logical sense for a leak to be half true, unless someone was trolling and took a wild guess. Tell me how someone could have predicted this with no clues? This simple rumor was my basis, and from this rumor I was able to do research and put clues together. Come E3, I KNEW MH was coming to consoles and would be announced at E3, but I'm not an insider. This was the beginning though.

I feel like this is clearly the direction the series is heading in. I mentioned earlier that MatrixMan remarked in another thread that the other MH team already is working on another switch title. Capcom wants the brand to be represented on as many consoles as possible to promote growth with the series, and it's a smart move.

It's obvious you are still salty about it not being on your beloved Switch. We have MH vets, hell even the chat during the Japanese stream people were excited and said things like "Day 1 buy". I really don't know what there is to doubt. I'm curious as to what you're doubting

Heh why would I be salty when I am gonna get the game on PC.

I am just saying I just can't see this as a big success with Capcom's unrealistic sales projection. Time and time again they always off the mark in terms of sales. Compared to other Japanese companies they are in a bad position with their franchises declining. I just don't see how this game is gonna bring in the western market with their huge expectations.

But what do I know it may become a huge hit and we will all be happy.

The main team has been working on MHW for like 4 years, started right after MH4 has been made, and obviously leaker doesn't know shit about Capcom's internal development team, where he tried to give totally false details to show he has credible info..

Edit: Oh now you're gone, well may be next time then.

I like it, but not a big fan of the QTE mash fest on the monster's back and easy knockdowns. It's just a demo so of course it's all scripted, but they made it look so easy mode I can't help but feel bit concerned.

Yeah, like I said, it got some overarching things correct but the rest of the rumour was pure horseshit. I hope now people stop quoting it or referencing it. It's nonsense.

You've never played MH4 or Gen then, got it.

 some of the gifs in here had me going back because I didn't recognize them. I didn't realize they demo kept going after they showed the title and release date. Who the fuck does that.

The multiplayer segment looked significantly better and actually like MH. I'm still concerned about the pace changes since it doesn't really look like they sped up monsters any significant amount to make up for it.

The rumor makes sense when you realize that it was just the user speculating about a hypothetical westernized PS4 Monster Hunter based on Capcom's previous track record.

Basically: "What if Capcom did a DmC with Monster Hunter?"

Lol what's with the bans? New MH World thread always brings out the usual posts from both sides.

I watched the stream live and I'm totally happy that my faith in this game since the beginning paid off. It's everything I was hoping for, a full-fledged HD console Monster Hunter with various quality of life improvements. Early 2018 can't come soon enough.

I like what i see, but i dont know monster hunter, will i like this if i like dark souls?
Monster Hunter is basically a boss game. Each hunt has you fight a boss over 15-25 minutes across several arenas. The bosses have varied movesets and unique weaknesses on different parts of their bodies, so a large part of the game is learning each boss. You can "die" 2 times, but on your third "death", you lose the hunt. You use materials gathered from the bosses over several fights to make stronger armor and weapon to fight harder bosses.

They usually have demos. The series have skins similarities in combat feel, but they're very different.

Note that these demos are always easier than the full game.

It's more or less what we know so far during E3. Only thing interesting is Japan doesn't need to pay subscription like they did previously in MH1/2/3, all they need now is just PS+ to play online.

It's crazy that Japan was okay with a subscription. It's understandable for Frontier since it got expansions, but just for a mainline game with sequels? Us players in the west would throw a shit fit if we had to pay a subscription. I most definitely would.

Hmm... this is actually quite tempting. I could never quite get into MH on the handheld platforms due to controls (even with that 3DS XL accessory or N3DS XL pointer) so HD textures plus good resolution plus PS4 pad would probably make me buy it (or I will grab the PC version).

Thank God this is on PS4.

I downloaded a demo on the 3ds, and I hated it with every fibre of my being.

I was just struggling with the god awful controls.

But to finally play this with an actual controller, on my 50 inch screen, in great graphics and no compromises?

Fucking in!

Will be my first actual monster hunter.

I was skeptical on the mounting system in this one because I thought it was some kind of Dragon's Dogma nonsense. Nothing against that game but that system would be lame in MH. But it just seems like a much more involved version of 4th gen mounting. Instead of an arbitrary bar on the screen you need to move around to avoid getting knocked off, and you eventually get the big payoff. Seems to take longer too, and it's neat how Rathalos seems to fly around and into things to shake you off.

Might be a little disappointing for DD fans looking for that game in MH, though.

The only thing Monster Hunter has in common with Souls games is the deliberate combat that has a focus on learning the enemies' tells and avoiding their powerful attacks.

Other than that the two series are pretty dramatically different.

I think they had to pay for server & connection or something. At PS2 era a fighter like Gundam vs series also required like $15 / month to go online, just for fighting (there was no co-op mode).

It's basically PSO x Punch Out!

After learning how the patterns work, the actual act of playing the game is absolutely cathartic.

MonHun is essentially an addictive Drug.

Japan is generally okay with subscription fee when it comes to their favorite franchises.

Final Fantasy online and Dragon Quest X are also the proof of this.

Really good combat. The player characters have unique satisfying movesets for each of the different weapons, and the enemy monsters have varied complex moves. It's not like many action games that just have the player styling on a boring sandbag enemy.

Also a wonderful feedback loop. You grind by fighting monsters (aka the fun part of the game) to get new materials to create cool armor and weapons to fight cooler monsters.

Wait they are? That's the first ive heard for sure that they are making it other than people just assuming.

For me, I just really like good and challenging boss fights in games. I've got years of MMO raiding experience but I still prefer a good pure action game over that. MH is at its core a string of really well made boss fights, against monsters with tons of personality that are unique and memorable.

At its most basic level that's what I love about MH. It's hard sometimes to get people to understand that I'm not just playing it because I like multiplayer loot games. Although I like those too.

The combat system is the other reason. I just like how MH plays, and nothing else is similar. When I read the now-infamous rumor that they were going to throw away the MH gameplay to chase a western audience, my Dead Rising 4 alarms went off which is why I was so wary of MHWorld. I know it's hard to learn and off-putting at first but learning was worth it.

Hope all those people who said it won't play like a real MH are enjoying their crow.

Looks fun as heck, can't wait for the PC version.

It really does look good and fun, still a lot of things I personally dislike tho, like..

-Those distracting/annoying wisps or w'e
-The fast travel to camp
-Being able to switch weapons midfight
-Healing/buffing/eating while running (what the fuck?)
-Making monsters fight each other on purpose to weaken them?
-The camouflage stuff

But yeah like I said, it looks fun and proper MH which is good.

Also, when you alter the environment/maps do they stay forever altered or can you use those 'traps' whenever you go on hunting?.

this looks awesome but there is one thing missing, the Blood, in previous MH games, when you attack the monster you see the blood coming out even though it looked shitty thanks to the power of 3ds, but it was still there, i was expecting the blood in MHW to be like in Bloodborne

Looks cool. I'm the most interested I've been in a Monster Hunter game since the trailer for the first one on PS2. But I'm not sure if I'll be able to play this. Watching the furry T-Rex limb made me feel sorry for it. I wouldn't want to go around not wanting to kill monsters because it makes me feel bad about it.

For me the combat is just rewarding. Learning and getting better at it over time is super appealing to me. Plus i really like the monsters!

I imagine that the environmental interaction reset after a couple of in-game days. Considering this is a series that likes to stress how unique and rare Elder Dragons even after the 20th consecutive run you've done on Kushala Daora, I don't think they're embracing realism that much.
