The Elder Scrolls Online: Morrowind |OT| Why walk when you can ride?

The thing is, it's on two consoles that it's doing this. I purchased a Nighthawk 1750 and we have a cable modem. I run speed test and I'm getting 50+mbps.

I opened the ports on my router they suggested even though it's possibly a security risk. That's a good idea, but it sucks because it's happening on both consoles.

sometimes I do remote play ESO while my wife is playing too, but i don't see why slower speeds are minimum when they give us the option to stream from our PC/Vita.

I should be able to stream it while another person plays. It works when it wants to. I'm just frustrated because the drops come after very good play sessions. It'll drop at the worst possible time.

We had it where everyone was frozen, main character turned invisible, and where the screen would go dark instantly.

I get kinda upset thinking they need better tech. If you had multiple PC's running WoW or something.. you'd probably not run into a drop from the server. I've only played WoW by myself and most other MMO's. I LANed with a group 3 years ago and we had 7 people going on the same type of connection playing Guild Wars 2/LOTRO. For two people in 2017 on console, this is ridiculous.

Man, sorry to hear that. Don't really know what it could be. On one hand it sounds like a network issue, but the dark screen stuff sounds more software-based.

As an aside, I highly recommend you just put your console on a DMZ. Pretty simple to do, no need to open ports, and your console has open access to the net.

My only other suggestion is doing a...the name eludes me but maybe someone can help me out, but it's essentially a maintenance for the PS4 in its recovery mode. No need to delete anything. Rebuild database maybe?

It is a great game, but dang I'm dropping my connection like no tomorrow. I even did their open port suggestions because I got sick of the "unable to connect to server". Public dungeons have been the worst. If there's players just walking around it crashes. No other game has ever crashed this bad for me on PS4.

I am really enjoying this game, but the stability of these megaservers are terrible. I never complained about getting connected. It has never happened to me before when I played a game online, but holy crap is it annoying. I was literally seconds from a boss being downed and it crashed.

I submitted a ticket with their support tonight, but I am 99% sure it's not my connection.

It's not your connection. This is happening to a ton of people on their tech forums. Also, me.

I'm on a quest asking me to be an enchanter, blacksmith, clothier, etc... Which specialty is most valuable? Will I be able to get the Daedric set if I don't become a blacksmith?

Depends on what armor/weapons you use.

Some examples:
Blacksmith > heavy armor, steel weapons (swords, axes etc)
Carpenter > Staffs/Bows, Shields
Clothier > light armor
Enchanter > runes that can be applied to all armors

Not sure about the Daedric set but I think there are style-options for all items you craft. Like Daedric light armor, heavy armor and so on ...

That said, you can learn all professions anyways. No need to think about it too much. Just try them all and specialize on the stuff you enjoy the most.

imo, it's worth it to learn all of them. Once you can create your own gear and enchant it, you'll be flyin! :)

Boss Doggie

all my loli wolf companions are so moe
if you do all quests you see and grab all skyshards you shouldn't really worry about skills for crafting

crafting writs is good for earning money too

with that said I'm still pissed they never "fixed" alchemy writ, it skips the fifth zone despite being level 5 in proficiency

Amazing, thanks everyone! One more question since I have everyone's attention: how much of the game can I play if I'm just with one friend? Is it easy to find each other and do quests together? I haven't played any of the game minus up to chapter 2.5 of the main quest.

I'm playing the game with just one friend. I don't know about end game stuff, but there seems to be weeks if not months worht of stuff to do for just us

Most of the game can be played with two people just fine.

Stuff the forces you solo are the exceptions: some main quests, one side quest I can think of and Maelstrom arena.

Dungeons are set up for groups of four, but you can still queue as a pair or just go in alone together.

Yeah. The Undaunted line has some good stuff, and the two passives are pretty much must-haves on all characters.

I'm loving it so far, definitely feels different from the main game, but man it's hard going solo all the time sometimes D:

I don't suppose GAF has some sort of active guild or anything

I've heard it's best to stash the keys until CP 150 (160?). Is that true?

cp160, and yes, I would wait. A monster shoulder with the right trait at cp160 is valuable, and you'll want a lot of keys when you start targeting a set.

You'll outgrow a <cp160 shoulder really fast.

Preparing question. (PS4)

1. The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited (Basegame?)
2. The Elder Scrolls Online: Gold Edition (Basegame + all DLC?)
3. The Elder Scrolls Online: Morrowind (game expansion?)

I'd need to buy/get 2 + 3 to have access to all things currently available?

I think so. Gear is capped at CP 160 so it makes little sense to waste keys on getting e.g. 120 CP gear that you will need to replace later anyway.

I am currently at 100 CP and just using gear that I acquire while leveling.

Yes. Additionally you will have to buy the Shadows of the Hist DLC separately because that is not included in any edition. That one adds two high level dungeons so worries for later I suppose.

Awesome, thanks for answers, Red and Majesty.

What platform are you on? No NA GAF PS4 guild atm, but I roll with some cool groups.

Sweet! I'll create the PS4 NA version tonight after work and send out some invites!

If anyone else wants in, please enter yourself into the Database or shoot me a PM! :)

Thanks for doing this. I think i did the database a few weeks ago when i started playing. i'll double check

I think you can do everything except the Group Dungeons.

Even those I've been pairing up with the Activity Finder tool and it takes me seconds to find a group! (EU PS4)

The options for Safe mode can be seen here.

However--from what I am seeing, based on what Northeastmonk said it sounds like a networking issue. Doing normal maintenance work given the options available to choose from probably will not do anything.

My recommendation: Hardwire the PS4 into the router, Login to the Router then assign the PS4 its own Static IP address. Do this for both consoles, and make sure the range[the last 3 digits listed on the address] between the two is really huge. For example; Put PS4-1 at 100 and PS4-2 at 200, and yes DMZ it like you mentioned. Concrete building materials and really thick housing structures can block Wifi signals. So for any online gaming I always recommend hardwiring in. DMZ can be a little scary to some people when they read what it is about. But something like the PS4's network should be relatively safe to use DMZ on.

If this doesn't work, it could be something specific to the house hold itself.

Just discovered the joys of healing on my L33 Mag Sorc, so much fun/rewarding keeping erryone alive!

Plays so well with a controller too, 4K ESO on the couch is so awesome :)

Any PC players here? Add me up (NA) IvorySamoan

I power-leveled a stamWarden over the last couple of days and it's probably my favourite class tied with stamSorc. Cutting Dive as a replacement spammable for Rapid Strikes is so nice because it's ranged, unblockable and gives health back each time you cast it with the tree passive. Bird of Prey for constant Minor Beserk, Major Expedition and Major Endurance alongside Bull Netch for constant Major Brutality... 28% Bonus Damage, 30% bonus movement speed (with Orc passive) and 20% Stam recovery just from two skills. It's nice to have so many usable class skills in a Stamina build for once.

How long does it take you guys to get to max level? I've played for probably 50 hours overall since launch and the highest I've gotten a character to before getting bored is 20.

Any level requirement? I just started and am only at 8 or 9 but committed to playing this for an hour or two most nights. I dropped Persona 5 after about 30 hours and this is going to be my main game for a while.

I wasn't into it when I started like 6 months ago, but I just plowed through all the intro island stuff and hit the opening of the main quest (with the prophet in the cave) and I'm loving it. Wandering around discovering locations, gathering shit and trying to get better equipment, figuring out which skills to invest in, it's all really well done. And the story is actually getting interesting. I'm also pretty blown away by how big this game feels. The starter island is so small compared to everything else and it took me a while to really explore that. I got to the mainland and this area is huge with much bigger cities to explore. I can't wait to get back into the Morrowind stuff at some point.

I'm surprised there isn't more of a community on GAF.

If I'm power leveling at Skyreach Catacomb with EXP potion/scrolls, about 5-6 hours. If I'm power leveling at Alik'r Dolmen farm, a couple of days max. If I'm just questing to level up, never. :p

Just picked up the gold edition in the sale. Might get Morrowind if I like it!

On EU PS4 if there are any gaffers out there who want to hook up with a newbie. Veteran of WoW but this will be my first time in ESO.

It really depends. These days, it's very easy to get some low level training gear crafted for you that will give you around 50% XP buff. If you really want to grind it out quickly, sky reach will honestly just take a few days tops.

Depends, really. I have two level 50 characters (templar and DK) but they took quite a long time to level because I like doing quests and exploring the world at a leisurely pace.

On my main toon it says I have played 300 hours and he is at CP 100. That is without powerleveling.

Also any other people playing on EU PC?

One other important note on this: A lot of players like to have ONE character dedicated to crafting armour and weapons, so Blacksmithing, Clothing, and Woodwork all on one character. The reason for this being that learning rare crafting styles gets pretty expensive, and it helps to learn it once on one character, rather than three times on three different characters each specializing in one craft. This is especially true now that crafting styles are being sold as limited time offers on the Crown Store.

My first character took me aaaaaages. I started playing this game in closed beta but it wasn't until the One Tamriel update that I was able to see a character through to level 50. Even today I'm not at CP 160 yet. Less than 10 CP levels to go before I get there, but I just enjoy playing alts too much. I have two level 50s now. I think the key is to find what works for you, and for me that was exploration, going wherever took my fancy with a class I enjoyed playing (Stam Sorc with a 2H sword was my first level 50 character). My second level 50 was a dual wield Dragonknight Khajiit who I levelled by destroying every single Dark Anchor across Tamriel, including in Cyrodiil. That was a fun self-designed questline!

Biggest change this game needs to make imo is abolishing the need to reach CP160 for endgame and equipment hunting to begin. CP is a good system that ensures continued character development after level 50, but there's no need to tell new players who finally reach level 50 that they have another ONE HUNDRED AND SIXTY levels to grind before they can finally start enjoying end game. Nothing would be lost by deleting CP10-150 gear from the game and renaming CP160 gear simply to level 50 gear.

Also any other people playing on EU PC?

I am! GAF seems very quiet about this game compared to other MMOs though. My user ID should be @Darkstorne if you want to add me =)

edit: is anyone on ps4 has steel, i'm in need. i'd be up for trading other mats

Yeah, I think once we get 10 we can use the bank. After that once we get 50 we can sell items to each other or bid on a trader to sell to other folks out there.

Also, a good idea is to edit the Notes under your character's name in the Guild roster section. You can state what your specialty is. I'm almost maxed out on all weapon and armor crafting areas, aside from a few missing traits. I'd be happy to craft training gear if anyone needs it! :)
