A true genius. His own writing, his own beats, created his own choreography and dance moves, he did it all and excelled at all of it. His songs are timeless and are still catchy even today. All modern pop artists are just a poor imitation in retrospect.

so glad to see Stranger in Moscow get love here; that's up there with Human Nature for his best ballads in my book.

RIP to the GOAT

I remember, I cried that morning after they said it in the news that Michael had died the night before..

Never happened to me before, and will probably never happen again for any celebrity.

The world hasn't been right since he died. Not saying his death caused it, but maybe.

I believe that MJs death triggered a cosmic imbalance. His fantasticness, his beauty and his asexuality was essential in the bigger picture, when he died the entire multiverse was thrown slightly out of wack and we will be feeling the effects for the rest of eternity. He really was THAT important in the grand scheme of things and we were FOOLS not to cherish him more when he was alive. I, personally, haven't slept a wink since he passed away and can barely go 30-45 minutes without breaking out in a rash and crying like a baby. It may be better, at this point, to just blow the world up and start again because without Michael Jackson on the planet we are FUCKED!

This was the first big news I read on Twitter before any news program, online or not. I remember telling my co-workers about it, seeing them search for news online, not finding any, and then them saying it's probably bullshit. Then 20 minutes later...

RIP MJ

RIP Michaelveli

Why the hell couldn't he have just smoked a nightly joint to put himself to sleep? Michael had too many opportunistic clowns in his circle. He should have posted on GAF, he'd still be alive.

If he'd have stuck with the crack it would have been OK but he had to get involved in glue sniffing and gas huffing. What a goon.

I miss him more with each year that passes. His music, all of them, is made with such a mastery and crafting that is now lost, his personal story is a never ending tragedy (come con, who wouldn't get a little wacko with such a childhood?) yet still, he did it everything for his public, and yet still, we claimed for his head. Poor MJ.
Rest in peace, King.

P.S: His posthumous album have been good (Xscape more than Michael of course) songs like Behind the Mask and LNFSG would had been lost in the ages without them.

A nightly joint would have never have killed him in this or any other universe. He'd a been sound asleep rather than big sleeping.

Can't believe it's been 6 years already!

I remember my gf waking me up and saying that he was dead and I was like "Shut up, you're lying. Let me get back to sleep!" "No, look it's on the news." "What? Nah, can't be right. He'll be fine. We're going to see him in September in London. At worst they'll delay some shows cause he's no well or something". Well...not my exact words but something like that.

As the hours passed I realised it was true. Man I was so upset. I grew up listening to his music. My mum saw him in '92 during his Dangerous tour. I was too young to go so stayed with my grandparents. So seeing him in London would be the first time I get to see him. It never happened of course. I wish I could have seen him live.

At least we got his music. Sure I don't listen to it every day but damn I have so many happy memories while listening to his music. I remember pretending to do the smooth criminal dance where he leans way forward. Or standing at the kitchen door singing Earth Song imitating the moves he does in the video. Or of course trying (and failing) to do a moonwalk. Thriller freaked me out to no end and his Ghost movie even more. Moonwalker was an amazing movie too and who knows how many times I watched it.

Really wish I got to see him live. Don't think anybody will ever top him.

RIP Michael.

Pure coincidence that I was listening to his music on that day when I was so busy with certain things for the past few weeks that I didn't get to listen to any music at all.

I've always said this, and I won't ever get tired of saying this, but no one will ever, ever come within viewing distance of his greatness. He'll always be the King.

I have been showing my kids all of MJ's greatest videos, god damn what a dancer that guy was. There is no one these days that even comes close to his originality when it comes to dancing, and doing it all while singing some amazing tunes!

Pure legend of pop music. RIP.

His death remains the most impactful of any that I've experienced. (I haven't experienced any personal losses yet, thankfully) It felt so wrong and abstract. It feels like everybody loved the guy, and I could never find someone who didn't like his music. It was just such a surreal experience.

Gosh, I hope we get another MJ someday.

8 years. I'm still discovering new songs every once in awhile from him. Hope they continue to be able to release new stuff as well. Still love This Is It from when he passed.

Sad times. :(

Wow, time does fly. I remember that I was in my Accounting class when the notification popped up on a classmate's phone. Coincidentally, was just listening to "Beat It" yesterday; one of my favorites.

As a huge MJ fan i was devastated by his death. I still can't believe he died just like that.

I had Tickets for his July 18th concert on the this is it tour. I booked my flight the night before he died. Ended up going to London anyway and visited the memorial they set up for him at the O2.
