Dragon Quest XI is coming to the west

cw_sasuke

If all DLC came tied to $13 figurines, I'd consider all DLC to be free
Doubt they would skip the 3DS version - doesnt make much sense if they already translate the PS4/Switch version and the script is more or less the same.

Anyway, why would they confirm such thing? I mean, this seems like something that a PR usually wouldn't do. Pretty weird thing to announce it like that.

...they probably thought - well if Horii can do it with DQ7/DQ8 3DS than surely we can too....lol.

If 3DS and Switch versions are not happening I'm not there. DQ isn't a franchsie that can be played on a home console. Takes no less than 60 hours to finish a game, I don't have such free time at home. I really don't understand how any of you do.

There's almost no way this skips 3DS in the west. Nintendo is making damn sure the 3DS remains relevant for at least another year.

I'll wait for official confirmation.

Always got to keep expectations rock bottom low when dealing with anything Dragon Quest in the west.

The script may be the same but the game itself is running on a completely different engine and system. Don't underestimate the amount of programming it takes to insert texts into a game properly without breaking it. Not to mention that's another set of QA lol :p

I can't imagine we'll get the "sword edition" with both flavors..

The 3DS version has a good shot at coming over here to be honest. It'll help Nintendo keep the 3DS afloat at the very least. Along with providing the system its last great RPG after everything that's already come out for the system.

new mainline DQ titles (read: not remakes) do reasonably well in the west. i think it's more or less given we'll get the 3DS version

Awesome. This and Dissidia could really cement a strong early 2018 lineup if both games come out before March.

What weird PR.

Absolutely thrilled by this. Hopefully it's not far off.

Yeah. Either way this is awesome news!

Weird but kind of accidentally predictable lol. Kind of the double-edged sword about waiting so long to announce something. S-E waited so long to announce it (E3 at Sony's conference combined with both SotC and Monster Hunter would have been a pretty good time) that this is how it got out first.

Hopefully depending upon when they plan for the English version to come out we get some official confirmation at Gamescom or PSX.

I don't want to wait any longer than I have already. Waiting sucks.

Yeah, somehow I expect at least 6 months. Maybe early 2018.

SE can't even be bothered to announce them anymore...

I know DQ Heroes bombed on Steam, but I think a PC version of DQXI could still happen.

I'd say there's a good chance but they'd probably use their FF tactic of bringing it a year later

I really hope we get all versions, but considering this is Square Enix we're talking about...

I mean, the longer time it takes, the less relevant 3DS will be, and the more relevant the Switch will be. We'll need to wait and see what release date we're talking about.

Yeah this is not surprising.
The PS4 version exist purely based on the good sales of the console in the West.

If Nintendo isn't helping, I wouldn't count on it.
You've got it backwards. 3DS version exists purely because of ps4s bad sales in Japan.

Yes but i also did not expect so many new 3DS games coming out in 2017 too. If DQ Xi is coming early 2018, it will be the best swansong for 3DS.

probably a ways off before mainline DQ hits PC... would be nice though

though i don't think it's too unrealistic to expect it alongside the Switch version, since they'll be downscaling the engine may as well go the extra mile for a PC port

Oh, for sure. I hope all 3 versions gets brought over. But the closer to 2019 we get the more in risk that 3DS version will be I feel.
