I feel like they must have made some agreement to leave that side of the franchise entirely to Heroes, because it's really weird how hard they're going with it over there.
In the beginning it was just reusing material from DB Online and turning some generic enemies into unique characters, but even now that it's all mostly original the demon realm and demon gods are still the enemies in Heroes' original arcs and they just keep adding more new demons. Even a new player avatar type based on demons.

Been saying this forever. He should have had his own saga. The potential of a Demon Realm arc is huge considering that there should be 12 of them with their Makioshins, GoD's, devils (instead of angles) and possibly their own Zeno.
Funny how Goku has no desire to fight Hit now that Toppo and Jirin have arrived. I wanna see Hit vs Toppo. Good to see Botamo isn't jobbing in 2 seconds because I want to see how he would do in a real battle. I love that team up with Magetta.

With the way it's being built up, Freeza could get the ultimate arc of Super as the...last bit of story before End of Z.
They showed freeza controlling destruction magic for a reason. I think it's possible Freeza wishes to become a god above the king of everything or something like that. It might be that the final arc is Ultimate God Freeza vs Goku and the 4 other strong universes??
I feel like the idea of Makioshins has been retconned away (were they even mentioned in the manga or show?). I'm pretty sure it is implied that Zeno and the Grand Priests have dominion over all the universes including the demon realm. I highly doubt they have their equivalent.

I feel like yeah, all of these guys are the strongest characters we've seen in Dragonball, but tapion?? Lol it's like they ran out of options and just picked someone random

No, Makaioshin and Makaio have only been directly mentioned by Toriyama in the "Super Exciting Guide"

I think a big issue is that from the start he said they were (currently) weaker than the Kaioshin, which would kill a lot of the potential about exploring them. I guess that could be solved if there's some kind of God of Destruction counterpart too though. That guide came out before all the recent additions to the series, after all.
The Makaioshin haven't even been mentioned by Heroes either in spite of all the demon realm stuff, although the Demon Gods seem to be basically the same concept but stronger, since they have Shinjin-like design, down to the pointed ears and Potara-like earrings.
He was an assist in knocking out two other guys. Teamwork was emphasized.

Cell is pretty weak compared to people now. Obviously fan wankery is going to want to see Cell compete at a stronger form than his Cell saga self. Copying Frieza's colors is the lamest thing they could do with it though.

So there's something that's only gotten more murky as this arc goes along.
Can Goku and friends sense the energy of people from other universes? They couldn't do it with Universe 9. Seems like Krillin couldn't sense Frost in the last episode. But at the same time, I remember them sensing the energy of Universe 6.

Aren't Makaioshin and Makaio a rare subspecies of Shinjin who are born evil instead of good, and then condemned to the demon realm? It's a prison, so the other gods having (nominal) authority over it is fine. We should have 12 demon realms, so there's plenty of room for a powerful Makaio to go unchecked.

They also sensed Jiren and Toppo so I don't think so. Universe 9 seems like an exception, but I also imagine the chaotic nature of the battle royale means that there's sensory overload and it's hard to pick people out from the crowd withotu focusing, which they don't have time to do. That's totally a rationalization though; I don't think it's been clarified.
He has Saiyan DNA too so he could be Golden God Blue Rose Perfect Cell if they wanted him to be.
He likely doesnt exist anymore though. The villains other than freeza are implied to have had their souls pacified and reincarnated by now. They forget all memory of who they were in their past life. Uub is a special case because Goku wished for King Yemma to make an exception. Freeza is the only one who has resisted the HELL process shit, according to Dende. We are likely to not get anyone other than Freeza. (And really, Cell is pretty similar to Freeza. Cell's whole thing was being a culmination of past arcs, rather than a wholly unique character to himself, he was sort of like Freeza Plus)

That much does, but Frieza chose to make his gold, so Cell should also be able to chose whatever color he wants.
Could say the same thing about 100x Taiyoken...
Or staring down Super Saiyan Blue.
