Bryan Fuller Says Talks Have Begun On Bringing Back HANNIBAL

Link.

Sometimes a little hope is all you need to make it through the day. It may be false hope built upon shaky foundation, but a little self-deception never hurt anyone.

What I’m getting at with this involves Hannibal, a show whose death fans have had a very hard time accepting. Hannibal is probably not coming back. But - and let’s be careful with that but - Bryan Fuller has confirmed that he and Martha De Laurentiis have started talking about doing something new with the show.

This may seem late for such things, but apparently they could not discuss Hannibal until two years after the show went off the air, this in accordance to rules of the strange and esoteric elf magicks that allowed them to get the show on in the first place:

Conversations couldn't start until 2 years after the final airing of season 3. @neoprod has started those conversations. This takes time.

— Bryan Fuller (@BryanFuller) August 9, 2017

Where does that leave you, gentle Hannibal fan? Well, your show still has a long way to go before getting back on the air. But we are a people who live off hope. May this tiny bit sustain you and not drive you to insanity.

Would be nice but this is akin to the Dredd sequel talk thread from a while ago. Talks happen all the time but stuff actually happening is rare.

Nah bitch I'll believe it when I get new episodes of Pushing Daisies

They're pretty far along in Dredd TV show talks

I don't want this. 3 seasons and out was perfect. The way that third season went out was perfect. Fuller's conception/adaptation of Red Dragon & Hannibal was amazing and managed to improve on almost every aspect of those two books, and definitely brought to life the best versions of basically every character Harris ever created for the series.

I don't really want a remake of Silence of the Lambs out of this guy. Not considering the way he ended Red Dragon. Not considering that Silence of the Lambs was basically kind of a rewrite/update of Red Dragon in the first place.

Leave it where it is.

Supersonic, idiotic, disconnecting, not respecting, who would really ever wanna go and top that
Yes! Time for the show to come out of #HeAteUs

I'd love it if they did something with Starz, Amazon, or Showtime. Just lose their minds like what's going on with American Gods.

I really liked how Hannibal ended. I'll still watch it if they bring it back but it needs to go in a very specific direction to not be corny as hell.

We'll see. Not expecting anything. Kinda thought it ended perfectly anyway, even though it was confirmed
they both survived

I'm not sure what else there's left to explore with the characters. You could bring in Starling I guess.

I won't get too hyped, but this could be great. I feel like Amazon would be willing to bankroll a revival (they have exclusive rights on the series, and are distributing American Gods internationally). I would kill for a Silence of the Lambs adaptation with Mads'.

You know what? Fuck it I want it. I though season 3 had like a perfect ending, and ending so perfect that it made even the so-so episodes of the show itself worth it, an ending so perfect that perfection needs redefining.

I was surprised Amazon never picked it up. I know it rated pretty low but it felt like it had a pretty solid cult following and got a lot of media attention.

One day I realized that sadness is just another word for not enough coffee.
I would love it if S4 opened
with Hannibal swimming to safety while dragging a knocked out Will behind him.

(And then he gives Will mouth-to-mouth resuscitation)

The cancellation of Hannibal made me so sad that I never managed to finish Season 3.

This newfound hope will carry me to the end.

I mean, they just got that little bit of dangling thread that they had to include, and I really want to pull on that thread and see what happens.

I agree. I also, personally, thought Fuller went a little overboard with American Gods, so I'd be a little wary of what Hannibal would be upon its return (especially if it ends up on a streaming service without the restraints of cable TV, which I think were actually beneficial to the show).

6 eps

2 do your own thing. Get us caught up. Explain what's happened since we saw Gillian sans leg.

4 rest being Fuller's take on Silence of the Lambs.

Then we out. I'd did it.

If the old cast and crew are all down for it, so am I.

I have no investment in the legacy of the series. If it turns out bad, I just won't rewatch it. But it won't affect my appreciation for the original run. And if if it turns out good than I have more episodes of Hannibal than I thought I would.

You bring it back please limit arty fartsy stuff, that shit almost made me switch off.

I think the cast where vital in the success it had, i don't know if mads would up for it seems like he is onto bigger things. It just wouldn't work without him for me.

It's a closed loop. It ends well, and if it's revived (and sucks), then it works for what we got too.

Kinda like how Supernatural ended with Season 5 and is varying degrees and qualities of fanfiction since then.

I'll never say no to more Mads, but S3 really disappeared up its own arse - S1/2 were heavily stylised and precisely paced, but S3 became a bit of a parody of itself. If this does go through, though I'm not hopeful, fingers crossed Fuller restrains his urge for total abstraction back to earlier season levels.

If it's well-written, I'm on board. Season 3 was good but indulgent and felt thin at times. Then again, that may have been exactly what Fuller wanted. American Gods sometimes feels like Hannibal but cranked to 11. Still, S3 has some of my favorite scenes of the series.

A lot of people don't like the first half of Season 3, but fuck, that arc had a great final couple of episodes with Jack, Hannibal, and Will all converging with Verger thrown in the mix.

Plus Red Dragon was fucking spectacular.
