Marvel Vs. Capcom: Infinite Characters and Stages Roster |DT2| oh dear...

Seriously.

Too bad plenty of FGC people are still out there shouting "Shoot it into my veins!" And even the ones that are complaining are still going to buy it because it's the new Capcom fighting game.

The Capcom side of the FGC is honestly pretty pathetic with how much shit they willingly put up with.

Maybe people can air complaints and buy it on the basis of enjoying the game?

A game where the majority of characters are recycled has a smaller roster than the previous one where the assets were entirely new. Baffling.

The previous one didn't have a fully animated, 2 hour story mode which is basically the equivalent of making a movie.

I'm going to keep repeating this, until people understand the cost and effort required for that.

Except even when they don't enjoy the game they keep on playing it. Look at SFV and all of the complaints that were thrown its way regarding the core gameplay. They're like addicts.

I bet if Capcom cut support for SF4 people would've eventually moved on to SFxT no matter how much they hated it.

True, that most likely affected the budget... just at the expense of the roster, which is a valid complaint.

As a customer I shouldn't have to care about the the effort that was made nor will I. If the output - in this case the story mode specifically - is ass then its ass. Capcom want my dollars for the game they're selling and they're not going to get it if its low quality.

If the gameplay is fun, why not? Some people really don't care too much for the presentation or diversity of the roster but I'm not gonna shame them for buying what they want.

so why didn't that stop Tekken 7, Injustice 2, etc?

Time to reconsider this old reddit leak given the focus on Jedah in the latest trailer? Yeah the circumstances sound a bit suspect but this was pre-zip leak:

You see, the team behind Infinite is fully aware of the fact that Ryce has been leaking information about the game before Infinite even got announced, but simply let it pass because of one singular reason...he's never fully told the truth
Technically true because the zip leak was slightly larger. Let it pass might be strong terminology, but it does explain the lack of a flat out denial in favour of being coy and saying wait and see (so they're technically not lying even though there isn't THAT much more to the roster).
While Ultron Sigma is the main villain of the story, both Thanos and Jedah play pivotal roles as major antagonists in the story. These are the only unconfirmed characters that the two actually spoke of by name.
As we've just seen in the Story Trailer 3.
There are several unplayable characters being created for the use in Story mode, acting as enemy units for the player to fight. The first confirmed ones are the Asgardian soldiers seen in the first story trailer. The second is apparently a Rathalos from the Monster Hunter series.
Questionable/unlikely, but given MODOK it's possible. It's also possible that Rathalos functions like a minion to Hunter in the same way that, say, Strider's robotic animals do but don't have a separate model. Also consider that "Hunter" might be a minion-type character in itself that gets fleshed out for DLC. Other rumours suggested Rathalos may've been scrapped along the way, so that's also a possibility.
The story features the option to play through story sections either as a solo character or creating your own team from the characters available. Certain character choices may effect dialogue before and after a fight.
Neat, small detail for the story mode.
All 6 of the first wave DLC characters will be making an appearance in the story in some form, while the only character the player can actually fight is an incomplete version of Sigma.
Surprisingly, none of the DLC characters are actually complete at this point, the most a majority of them have so far is a model (which will be used in the story mode).
As for future DLC plans, it's apparently all up in the air. They definitely plan to have some details by the end of the year, but they've confirmed one thing...it will not be split into seasons like SFV. They claimed that the most likely option they're going to go with is themed character packs. They didn't say how frequent they would come out, but they really want to get out as many characters as they can by the end of 2018, especially since the SFV team apparently has some really big plans for 2018 and they need to compete for attention.
So, Hunter, Winter Soldier, Venom, and.. Dr. Light? lol

Thoughts?

I can enjoy playing the game and also have issues with diversity.

Fuck off with this.

Interesting. So thousands of people are addicts? Tell me more!

(Or maybe the hate for the game isn't as damning as people think since it keeps pulling in top numbers)

Then those people need better standards because having a fighting game with great gameplay is now par for the course. Damn near fucking everything plays great. To me at least, you need to stand out from the pack to get my attention, and the only way MvCI is standing out is in how bad the roster is.

Those people need better standards? That's a sign of being so soft you are rattled by the opinions of others yet so try hard to pretend like your subjective bars of quality are somehow more important or relevant than others.

So "better standards" according to who?

I want to play the game because I'm a fan of the system. Don't throw shade at others for anticipating something you dislike. I'll never understand that mindset.

Roster as expected.

Trailer was hype. The game is looking a lot better. Too bad they will never put out a DLC character I will want to buy.

Jedah looks like he jumped out of the Sonic Adventure intro CG cutscene and into this trailer. He looks so bad that I couldn't believe what I was seeing.

Nothing plays like marvel. Nothing plays like Injustice. Nothing plays like Tekken. etc

If I like the gameplay of those games, I'm not getting what I want by playing another game.

Off Topic. But this reminds me of the Action RE threads where people are like "Just place COD or another action game" which is missing the point.

All I'm saying is I don't see why people feel the need to put up with modern Capcom's garbage right now, when there are more amazing fighting games being released than ever. There are tons of underplayed and underappreciated games that never got their due, and but this game, which damn near EVERYONE agrees is disappointing in some regard, seems to get a free pass just because of who made it.

KoFXIV plays great and had an astounding launch roster considering all of the characters were made from scratch, but barely anyone's playing that. There's more great anime games than I can count, but they'll never be popular.

But this, which outside of story mode seems to have had the bare minimum amount of money put into it, is getting all the hype. To me, it seems incredibly unfair.

Same where does it say it's the final roster of 30?

Really weird to say this game is getting all the hype considering how much everybody has been bitching about it for the past several months.

But, in general, I agree with you. People should definitely check out other fighters. But for people that are excited about new Marvel, there's nothing out there like it.

What I miss?

Was traveling and just got back.
Final roster is the 30 character roster, Hunter and Venom are not confirmed to be in, new story trailer shows Symbiot soldier and Big.

yeah it's fairly disingenuous to say this is getting tons of hype given how it's been slammed for its looks and roster for a while now

Casually it's going to do terrible for sure, but it'll probably end up right before SFV at EVO with thousands of people playing it. It'll have tons of support in the FGC.

Because people enjoy sf. The shitstorm around sfv daily doesn't reflect how the majority feels about the game. Else it would be dead. Nobody is going to force themselves to play it en masse for whatever reason. People level complaints about every sf game and the biggest reason why sfv seemingly gets more heat is because of social media. People airing complaints doesn't mean they hate the game or don't enjoy it to a capacity where they won't play it anymore.

SFV doesn't get a free pass. Everyday for better or worse it gets shit on. But look at where you are - the Internet.

People will play what they like no matter what game you think is deserving of their time. I want other people to play everything including my precious Gundam, but it's not what everyone wants to play. And that's fine.

Ayy lmao!

Riots on the streets incoming.

Those modes don't look that impressive either, pretty baseline stuff. Hopefully they actually work as intended. Beginner league looks interesting but that's about it.

IMO the only thing missing from the modes is the multiple-players-per-team mode that SFxTK/DBFZ have. Dunno what else it needs unless people want them to rip MK Towers?

I don't agree with a billion different online modes to splinter online bases, works for the most popular FPS, but even some Halo and CoD games suffered from way too many options.

Dante getting man handled by Jedah makes no sense to me.

Then again this is probably "just a random Tuesday" mode Dante considering he didn't even use DT.

It's a conspiracy

I don't think it's any conspiracy. All of those people saying Capcom paid off pro players to shill for them are ludicrous.

I just think people give Capcom as pass because of their history and they're just set in their ways. They're so used to only playing SF and Marvel games because that's basically all there was to play competitively for 2D fighters that they'll stick with them even if there are problems with the new games and there's lots of great games as competition.
