Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite - Story Trailer 3 [Up: Final roster is 30 characters]

This roster seems laughable compared to Injustice 2 and likely DBFZ

I guess people are really blind when so far all what we've seen from that game is all characters play exactly the same + to make things worse there is 2 or maybe more Gokus and Vegetas.

yup sad because at the end of the day being able to play these two games are great people always want to make these two compete.

Not in the base roster. Hope you like DLC!

Here's the roster. :)

:(

So Venom and Monster Hunter are DLC but what are the other two?

In the other thread we talked about how in that field DBZF is already fucked. Since the DBZ IP itself is pretty fucked already in that regard. Only until recently have they really been trying to change things around.

Though even then Toriyama and co didn't go on to say "Look how diverse we are and we'll be carrying this as we go forwards in all our projects"

I'm not a fan of the roster, even without the X-Men (which are my favorite Marvel characters) Capcom/Marvel could have done a better job choosing reps from their respective franchises...

Glad to see some models been "fixed".

To be fair Dbfz is a new game with different systems and mechanics to explore, sure, putting another version of goku and vegeta is boring as hell, but at least we got 16 which i didnt really think would be in it

MvCI on the other hand as a boring ass roster, with 85% being returning characters, with the rest being new ones and also those being locked out as DLC, and no X-men, taking into account the history of the series is really bad, but this is mostly counteracted by an amazing system that leads to a lot of variation and possibilities in its gameplay, and the people showing it off already have a good amount of MvC experience which makes it easier to show that

It's a very safe roster again goodwill to this would be offering the remaining mvc 3 character, men don't have to be included but as free DLC.

Marvel

could never
So I wait for Complete Edition.
I'm tempted to do this but thanos, Ultron and gamora got me hype. Really REALLY disappointed about the launch roster though.

No Venom for a while too is also a huge blow for me.

Story looks better, I'm in.

30 is a good number in my opinion, will end up being much more with the DLC though, I hope there's a ultimate version with this one.

If DBZF becomes an ongoing series, I wouldn't say its future lies in adding more DBZ characters (though they could likely get a few revisions out of that). It probably lies in adding other Jump characters.

until they fix the head-to-body ratios of all characters that arent iron man, rocket, jedah, or nemesis, i wont be playing.

Only character I was excited for is Monster Hunter and he's fucking DLC. No way I'm buying this before a price drop now.

SFV actually has one of the better cinematic story modes lol. At least it knew what it was. It was silly, goofy, and had fun with itself. Tekken 7 for example had a far worse story mode.

I guess that just speaks to the overall quality of story modes in the genre, heh. I haven't played T7, but I definitely have not heard good things. I really enjoyed MKX and IJ2 though. Maybe I would've enjoyed SFV's more if the production values weren't bottom tier. Then there's stuff like Xrd which I can't even bother with.

Probably explains Blaz Blue Tag. Get their feet wet in the crossover stuff there then go on from there.

BAHAHA! You call others blind and then claim all the characters PLAY the same because their beams have the same special fx or something?

Here let me break it down for you.

  • Gohan is rushdown like a mother fucker, and has in and out tactics and has a lvl3 that can go lvl 5 to end combos with huge damage. Not the best at long range but a big damage guy off of a touch.
  • Goku is an all arounder but who has teleport supers and great full screen punishes. He can convert any air combo, ground combo, or air to ground into his supers meaning good damage off any hit confirm for any level of player.
  • Vegeta is sorta a frame trap guy. He is built around pressuring and good frames to try to suffocate folks. He has multihitting tools to keep folks pinned and pressure from anywhere. He is great at just staying on folks and never letting them recover once they get knocked down too. He converts off of any touch and while he doesn't damage as hard as Goku he puts people on the defensive way easier making him a great aggressive character. Think Cable 4 shot, plus a multihitting jumping diagonal version on a guy with fast dashes and great button frames. Suffocation city.
  • Buu is a slow moving power character with a huge knockdown game and really annoying long range command grabs. You either deal with his close range or risk not threading the needle and eating grabs. Great AA.
  • Cell is like a Bison. A guy with lots of pokes who accels at the neutral and uses hitstun a lot. He has some great up and down diagonal stuff, a slide and a damned near full screen command grab that lets you cap off any tag combo in huge damage. Plus he has a great long range super. On top of this he has some FAST attacks that blow up large areas of the ground making him great at jump ins.
  • Frieza is a zoner with good limbs to poke folks out with. Plus he's an install character. he has stuff similar to Doom Rocks, he has lots of pew pews, he has great damage and builds great meter. Plus his giant energy orb is like an air okay diagonal shot that rolls along the ground afterwards both working as an ender, an oki, or a way to force folks into jumps.
  • Krillin is short limbs, lots of setups and mixups. He has an orb that splodes into more orbs, and unblockable, long range tool in Kamehameha, can HEAL folks as an assist, can do mixups off of illusion attacks that have him reappear after an image of him appears (guess the mixups baby), and he is just in general a setup character.
  • Piccolo is a super skrull from what we know so stretchy limbs. He's a charge character who can guard break. Plus he can cap all combos in big damage off of blasts he has so yeah...long range grappler with guard breaks and enders? sick.
Dont know a lot on 16,18 and SSB Goku/SSB Vegeta but they keep things very interesting at ASW. Thinking SSB Goku and SSB Vegeta will play the same as their counterparts makes as much sense as saying Decapre and Cammy are exactly the same. This aint Bone Claw Wolverine here. Hell SSB Goku already has listed a Kaioken attack so he's either an install character or a Frank West level up character.

You can like both. Honestly its okay to like both. You dont have to treat it like high school sports and choose your team and then shit talk all the competition. Both games are great. Liking it too wont mean you betrayed MVCI somehow. If you do try to pick just one though at least make certain to know more about the other game before claiming they all play the same. It is very much NOT the case. All the cast play differently.

Adding Black Panther, Sigma, Venom, Hunter and two female characters to the base roster then the fans might be warming up with the roster.

I would. I'm pretty interesting in seeing how Black Panther and Sigma play in particular. A sword use and a guy likely to rush it down when there's no Wolverine? I'm wondering if he's gonna be some new crazy take on that berzerker slash style of play again like how Necalli was. Sigma is Sigma. Has a sword in a fighter. Nuff said.

Here's hoping we see DLC gameplay trailers early in the game to keep us warm.

That's interesting breakdown , i didn't try DBZ personally so I have no idea how it plays I'm just saying that cuz that's what some of the people who tried the floor demo said, but I'm actually looking forward DBZ more than anything else. Like you said i don't like the fact that some people have to downplay one game to make another look good like they can't enjoy both games and they have to choose only one of them.

Yeah, its cool. Repeating stuff like "they play the same" though...just watch a few of the high level matches when you hear any game talked about that way. Most folks that claim stuff like that dont know much about fighters. Take those sorta things with a grain of salt.

I can't wait for the next build and its cast to be played so we can see some of the tactics out there. Folks were cold on Cell at first then they realized how he had these really neat ways to make his stuff safe to approach with and exit for in and out play and he got super good at neutral. Then someone did his full screen grab as a tag in after a combo to use as a large damage ender to convert something his character couldn't and folks blew up in hype.Trunks will be a big draw for folks once he hits. He has great range sword normals and a lot of really good zoning tools. He's like a different take on full screen/neutral play compared to Frieza and Cell.I get a STRONG feeling that Krillin is gonna setup some ridiculous stuff and will be popular. He has an unblockable, and tons of mixups by himself and a heal assist. I wanna try him with everyone for those reasons. I really wanna see if I dig Piccolo now that I know he has guard break moves as a grappler. I wanna know if he's actually guard crushing or if he has armored attacks as a grappler with charge stuff.

Eager to see the Blue Saiyans and the droids in general. Game has so much potential.

Anyhoo...back on topic I guess. MVCI.

Right now my biggest thing is wanting to play X and Ultron with everyone. I'd also like to give Spideydude another shot since his inputs have changed and some of his tools for pressure seem improved. Really hoping to see him more in this game than last game.

Man, this roster has to be the most disappointing roster ever. This does not make me want to purchase the game.

Same here, it seems like that they were not even trying.

Nothing to say about the new additions, I would have switched Gamora for Daredevil though.

I have a ton of fighters to play right now. Unless there's some amazing DLC surprises this year I'm going to give this a pass on launch. I have no doubt I'll enjoy it but doesn't feel like a day one game at the moment. Low momentum with that roster.

Can someone gif that X and Zero arm bump
SbpjNiI.gif

Marn probably already has it as a tattoo lol. Seriously hope we see him come back just to play this game. He's a bigtime X and Zero fan. I'd like to watch him carry his dream back onto stage and live it out. He's a fun guy to watch out there.

X looks so boss in general with those dashup cancel moves. You constantly gotta guess his high low game and he has some great setups all by his lonesome even without tag setups or gem tools. I keep thinking teleports with him would be great or the homing orb. I think I can get nastier mixups off teleport but if I partner Zero the orb would be better I think to augment his own ports and stuff.

If I play Ultron/X though I'll definitely rock the port. His drone and X's tools with a teleport on deck mean nasty mixups allllllll day in the left right department.

Black Panther not being in the base roster was a poor decision.

It pure Capcom Bullshit™.

Going to have a roster that's 6 characters smaller than the last game (base Mvc3 - not even Ultimate), consists of 24 (84%) characters from the previous game, and is going to have Black Panther as part of the story, but not on the roster?

This game shouldn't sell well, Capcom.

Eh I predict like 18 max for dbfz

i think it was confirmed to be 24, but other forms of characters would be included in the roster count

That would actually be surprising and pleasant to learn considering how painstakingly difficult the method Arc System Works employs to cellshade their models. Their cellshaded models as a result are basically sprites. It's also why making one character for Xrd takes four months by itself.
