Can tell from Hamilton’s body language that he’s very amped up. Either from the hype of getting the job done in this race or could be his attitude going forward to the end of the season to take the championship. I’ve never seen him like that before, very interesting to witness.

What? That was a pretty straightforward race for him. Vettel had one chance after the safety car, other than that his win wasn't threatened.
The effort seen from Hamilton this weekend was absolutely not straightforward. This was a tough battle between two greats. Overtakes are not the only metric in F1.

Hamilton is a legendary driver. Him not making mistakes under pressure is pretty straightforward for him. For it to be one of his best races it lacked some extraordinary challenge. Vettel while close was not a big challenge

All greats are expected to deliver but calling it straightforward kind of cheapens this level of performance down to being easy. The last stint looked near impossible for Hamilton. But sure this fight did turn out how we expected it to from the beginning of the race and so lacked a bit to be special.

"McLaren-Honda? Who 're they?"

"Exactly!"

Lewis enjoyed a top speed advantage in the two attempts by Vettel. He could only lost it today with a crucial mistake. It was an expected win against an inferior car - even with better tires.

Really enjoyable race. Was great to see Ferrari keep up with the Mercs on a circuit like Spa. The Perez/Ocon relationship is sour at best and an absolute shame to bring upon an otherwise superb FI team.

Why are we talking about points in Baku?

Perez raises a good point. Why on earth would you go for the pass before the straight? Get up the hill and pass with DRS. Yeah he got off turn 1 with more speed but going two wide up that hill is needless for one team.

Edit: That's not to say Perez is blameless. Closing the door at those speeds is stupid. I do believe him saying he'd have done that with any other driver but what a weird incident. Totally unnecessary.

Vettel would have been gone had he gotten past Hamilton in the last stint. He had a huge advantage on the restart but Hamilton simply outclassed him there by lifting and forcing Vettel on the outside and out of the tow. Saying it was all car is a bit bullshit. Hamilton was simply the better driver this weekend.

It was literally impossible for Vettel to overtake Lewis, he was pulling out significant higher top speeds.

The crucial moment was after the safety car. Lewis lifted just before Eau Rouge so Vettel had less time to get towed and acquire enough speed to pass. At the end of the straight, the Merc engine flexed its muscles again.
Pretty strong tactic by Lewis.

How the hell didn't Perez get a big penalty for what he did? Complete idiot, reminds me of what Schumacher did to Barrichello in 2010.

Raikonnen and Riciardo managed to do it on Bottas... I was watching the speeds closely on those last laps and if anything Vettel was slightly faster on a straight, probably due to a distance tow from Hamilton.

Omg. Bullshitted my way into the pits because I ran really hard. Took selfies with Christian and Helmut and Ted 😂😂😂

They showed the speeds of both drivers and Vettel just couldn't get faster once he left the slipstream while Lewis still gained more speed. The engines were even close today.

Hamilton and Vettel were flawless today and the guy with the better car won today. There is no need to turn this into some legend.

Perez ass got saved because it was a teammate and he immediately suffered a tire failure.

You know what they say... Pics or it didn't happen.

Vettel was within 2 seconds of Lewis the entire race and on the faster tyre for 12 laps at the end, did you even watch the race? Not threatened?

Vettel needed the tow, he could have easily gotten that if Hamilton hadn't lifted. See also two cars going past Bottas by having the tow.
And you're right.

Vettel said, Hamilton lifted before Eau Rouge to let him come close. So he had to get out of the tow too early & couldn't overtake. #AMuS

BOT and RAI almost embarrassing, they couldn't even be used as a strategic threat. The Ferrari the strongest car again on sunday.

The relative strength of Ferrari on a 'Mercedes' track is the most interesting part for me. Assuming the 'ferrari' tracks still favour them, then it could be a difficult fight for Hamilton for the rest of the season

Fact of the matter is, when two cars are this close then the one who qualifies better will likely win. That's still in Mercedes' hands.
