New previews of Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle

I had to do the exact same thing, really sucks and I would have cancelled my pre-order if not for the Prime discount and some gift credit I had.
I do believe tou have to select release day delivery. It used to be automatic. I had a similar issue with XCX. Had to cancel the order and reorder and select the release day option. Not sure if anything changed since my XCX fiasco.

Ordered my copy of this from the Ubi store when they had a voucher active, came yesterday via DHL from Germany (I'm in the UK). Managed to complete the first two worlds (I think) and am really enjoying it so far.

I smile every time the overwatch ability from X-Com 2 is activated by Mario and the audio is no longer a cool action guy/gal saying "on overwatch", instead in this game it's replaced with Mario shouting "it's a Mario!".

Can you replace Mario with its Rabbid version?.

No unfortunately. Perhaps my only major complaint is that team is limited to three and one has to be Mario and one has to be a rabbid. It makes sense to have that requirement to be fair, given the whole concept of the game. I just wish team size maybe grew to 4 or 5 throughout the course of the game because the characters different special powers are quite interesting.

Given the limited team size I'm trying to give them all a fair shake when you unlock new characters rather than stick with one combo. I was doing well with Luigi, Mario and Rabbid Peach but I've just unlocked Rabbid Mario so Rabbid Peach is going to make way for a bit. She's a good healer but in reality I didn't really use her healing power THAT often and I don't really want to play the whole game with just the same three characters.

So it's confirmed that you only can take 3 into battle for the rest of the game? That is really disappointing if so. They should at least unlock the ability of allowing you to play with any 3 characters after you beat the game.

I want an all Rabbids team.

So, is this whole game pretty much Xcom-esque gameplay? Do they mix it up at all with some fun platforming type gameplay? I'd be totally fine with the former if it's fun the whole way through.

I don't think so. It seems to be Mario locked to slot one, a Rabbid must be in slot two, and slot three is free selection. Or something like that.

Damn that's too bad, I quite like Rabbid Mario, hopefully having both on your party doesn't feel redundant (guessing they share most of their skills/play style?)

No, Rabbid Mario is more of a brutish tank. His shotgun does area damage and he can lure enemies to him.
He's cool.

Mario is bland.

No, all of the Mario characters play pretty differently from their Rabbid counterparts. Rabbid Mario's a lot more melee-focused than Mario.

Still wish it was 4 characters at once instead of 3. Esp given that you need mario and a rabbid in your party at all times.

From reports and impressions I really can't see this game reviewing badly. Maybe a few nitpicks here and there but I suspect we're easily looking at an 8+/10 game.
I'm most interested in how the strategy holds up in the latter half of the game. ie, does it get more challenging but remain fair? does it get more fun as you get used to the deeper mechanics and tactics?

And 15-20 hours would be fine for me. I don't expect much padding

When I first read about the rumors and saw the leakes I just said "Meh, this ain't gonna work". But after E3 trailer and these previews, this game is one of my most anticipated now

Been having a blast with this. It's abit slow at getting started, definitely drip feeds abilities which make up core strategy elements. Great fun though. Feels very polished, the music is great, looks really nice too and gives a lot of smiles. Xcom-lite in a family friendly colourful package.

So what's the justification behind putting a video of the final boss fight online before the game is even out?

Views? Ad revenue? You think people who got it early care if they spoil it for everyone else? It's all about that subscriber count, bay-bay!

Can you tell I'm jealous that I couldn't get it early? :(

Probably the same justification behind most leakers who aren't beholden to NDAs posting that kind of stuff: attention.

And these are the people that get mad at Nintendo for copyright claims or when they take a piece of revenue?

"It's free advertising, why are you getting mad at ME for showing YOUR game to people?"

Ugh.

Just got Amazon to overnight the game to me, I thought all pre-ordered games were supposed to be delivered on delivery day? My order said it would be shipped on release day and be to my house on the 31st. Not good enough, I complained and now will at least get it on the 30th.

I ended up cancelling my Amazon pre-order b/c of that. I'll just pick it up at a local store on the day of. It's looking like the game will be worth the full price.

Sorry to hear it all. Glad you guys contacted CS and if you preorder from Amazon again I'd contact them 2-3 business days before release date to make sure they get it to you release day as I and others have had many problems with this in the past. FWIW, I've had much better luck with Best Buy delivering on or even the day before release.

Is this game super funny???
I'm not expecting Coker's Bad Fur Day funny but is the writing and/or humor a highlight???

I wouldn't say the game's super funny but it's cute. It makes me smile now and then and it has personality but I wouldn't go into it expecting too much from the writing itself. It's more about the slapstick and fan service, the dialogue is just ok.

More like, why not? Don't watch it if you don't want to be spoiled. They uploaded it for those who are interested.
Thumbnails in my recommended list have spoiled me on a lot of end boss, especially since I mainly use youtube to listen to OSTs and that's all it ever shows.

It's a form of respect to at least wait for the game to be out before uploading that kind of video. They could at least wait for the embargo to be over.

Sounds more like an issue with the thumbnail or title they use. Uploading the video isn't problematic in and of itself, though.

Think he's talking about the thumbnails that have a picture of the final boss alongside "RABBID REGGIE FINAL BOSS" as the title. Pretty hard to avoid those if YT decides to recommend it to you.

...if Rabbid Reggie is the final boss I apologize for spoiling it.

Gave Rabbid Mario a shake but he doesn't suit my play style to be honest, I'm not a charging into the fray/melee kind of guy.

Really hoping either Yoshi or Peach suit my play style, I have no idea what their abilities are.

I imagine the person who uploaded it was one of those who got their copy from a store that broke the release date; I doubt they know/care about any embargo.
