Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle review thread

I know it's a review thread so we have to go against certain outlets with certain review scores, but the games been well reviewed despite the concept so people should probably just be happy about that, lol.
A 7.7 is basically an 8 in most metrics anyways

It'll be nice to have a new Switch game that's mostly focused on single player. After finishing Zelda, it's been mostly online games (ARMs, Splatoon, Mario Kart).
Agreed.

Glad to have single player games coming now, too many online games

Mario and rabbids, Mario odyssey and xenoblade

Great scores. Was not expecting this high of an MC score, so it has secured it as a Day 1 purchase for me now.

I still hate Rabbids, though.

...

Other "85" on metacritic include:

Uncharted: The Lost Legacy
F-Zero X
Doom (2016)
Tekken Tag Tournament
Onimusha 3
StarCraft Remastered
Life Is Strange
Hotline Miami
Metal Slug X
Rocket League
Dust
The Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth
Super Smash Bros. For 3DS
Shovel Knight
The Talos Princiiple
Ni no Kuni
Hitman II
Oddworld: Abe's Oddyssey
Rainbow Six
The Sly Collection
Peggle Deluxe
Valkyria Chronicles
Rogue Squadron
Prof Layton and the Curious Village
Thumper
Mario Kart 7
Brothers
etc.

I think you just proved my point.

Don't say that too loud, next thing you know Nintendo's going to crossover with Allumination.

The moment I saw the X-Com gameplay, I was pretty much sold. Really happy it turned out good. Switch keeps on killing it.

Seeing the game at 85 on Metacritic makes me think this will more or likely score even higher for me personally. I've loved everything about this since the reveal. The portability of the switch will make this a great "level a day" style playthrough.

I mean, when did 85/100 become decent?

It's a frikkin great score.

Splatoon 1 and 2 must be trash based on some of the comments here xD.

Damn why am i getting tattoo's of "decent" games.

Honestly it's all subjective i haven't cared about review scores that much anymore i read the few that interest me nothing more.

A high metacritic score is good and all but i have enjoyed games in the 60s and maybe even some in the 50s or lower (sonic black knight, lord of shadows 2 and more, altho i got these cheap so that might helped!).

If I ever get a Switch this will be one of the first games I get for it. Lovely concept, fantastic visuals and the reviews seem to indicate it is a great game.

I hear you on the Rabbids dislike. We tried a Rabbids game, Rabbids Go Home (which has a very respectable MC of 78), in anticipation of consideration of M+R, but man... we found the sound effects and personality and style of humor endlessly grating. So, despite this looking to be a very enjoyable and well made game, we're planning to skip it because the Rabbids themselves are just so irksome to us.

Remember when everyone was dismissing this crossover as the worst thing ever? I'm really glad it turned out to be critically well received. It's a breath of fresh air. It doesn't need to be XCOM and do everything XCOM does to be a solid strategy game.

Did i enter some alternate universe were decent means trash? I played and enjoyed most of the games listed by the person above and they mostly are pretty decent.

I can't believe they got PC master race Dan Stapleton to review this. Jose, Peer, Brian, Sam, Daemon et al would have been far more positive.

I mean, I would prefer to read from an xcom veteran, as the selling point for me is that it is a tactics RPG, not its mario crossover.

And 85 MC is a great score. Ubi man would be happy with that score.

If anyone told me two years ago that I'd be buying a Sonic game and a Rabbids game in 2017...

Year of the impossible!

I think "decent" is perhaps just a bit ambiguous as a qualifier. If you asked me to arbitrarily assess where it ranks, I'd say it's a notch below "good". Synonyms I would use interchangeably would be words like "adequate," "satisfactory," or "acceptable." Personally? I'd use "decent" to describe a game in the mid to high 70s range.

Great scores and reviews!
I'm so happy for Nintendo and Ubisoft for this experiment, good times for the Switch!

I think my biggest complaint about this game is going to be the lack of multiplayer.

Being able to do strategic battle with someone online would have pushed this game to the next level. I worry that once I beat it, it will sit there and collect dust.

Can't wait to get mine tomorrow. I decided to not buy digital this time because there is a 20 dollarydoos difference from a physical copy.

Game made me buy a Switch.

I mean, Tesco had a £20 off code for the Switch so that helped. And £5 off the game... But I need me my Mario Xcom.

See if you knew that in advance, the real crazy thing is that it's a classic style 2D Sonic game that seems to pull it off, and the Rabbids game is a crossover with Mario, but plays like XCOM.

2017 is a weird year in gaming so far. I hope it keeps up. Weird is fun!

Xcom is a great game but too challenging/stressful/random for me to have the patience for.

If this is like Xcom but a touch easier, I'll be all in.

Do you believe in +500k WW?

Should be an easy million seller, IMO. Switch software has been selling well, it has Mario on it, and it's reviewed well. Ubisoft is also willing to slash prices to move software if needed, but I don't think that will be required here.

I would have never guessed back when we first heard the rumors and saw the first leaks.
Pleasant surprise and congratulations to Ubisoft!
