I don't think this is the time for Wenger to be downgrading the side. The fans would be livid.

I think Ox can thrive playing in the right wing channel like Moses. But the rumors at Arsenal is that he wanted to play as an attacking mid.

The rumours were that he wanted to play in the middle (which ironically seems to be something Wenger put in his head because basically no-one else believes he's any good there). There's no way he plays there for Chelsea, though, so this move shows he actually just wants to win things. If the wages Arsenal were apparently offering him were true, he's probably taken a pay cut to join as well.

Oxlade-Chamberlain was definitely one of the more likeable players at the club, but it's difficult to be too upset with him going. He was better than Bellerin as a RWB towards the end of last season, but it's important to remember that the reason Wenger moved him around so much was because he was so inconsistent everywhere else.

It will be interesting to see how he does with some actual structure in place under Conte.

35m for Ox is fucking insane. He isn't worth that with 6 years left on his contract, nevermind 1 year.

27m for Townsend is just as nuts. He is such a one dimensional player.

Chelsea badly need squad depth, could do a lot worse than Ox. Prices our beyond fucked at this point.

Wonder what madness deadline day brings us, at this rate I reckon the Sissoko deal will be topped.

Seeing some suggestions on Twitter that Liverpool wanted Ox but Arsenal wouldn't sell to them, this is why the move for Lemar accelerated.

Townsend is rumoured to be replacing Mahrez who Arsenal want to replace Oxo

That would be a huge upgrade for Arsenal and infinitely shit replacement for Leicester. Makes me wonder why Chelsea aren't in for Mahrez.

£35m for Ox after yesterday is hilarious, guy's worth about £3.50 on that performance. Can't wait to see Arsenal reinvest that money in some flats or something.

Like, what's the merit of announcing it now?

Maybe they want the £48m outgoing on the books this financial year instead of next financial year, especially considering the £100m+ they'll get back in for Coutinho, would make them more competitive in the market next summer, potentially.

The real silver lining is that this means Bellerin will move back to the right and Arsene will be forced to play an actual left-footer as LWB.

Would not surprise me if Newcastle were in for Townsend again. Supposedly we're getting rid of De Jong in the next couple of days and have already shifted Riviere so expect us to make at least one panic buy before the window closes.

Presumably, Oxlade-Chamberlain will primarily compete with Moses for RWB. He can be pushed further forward if necessary.

Not at that price

Dunno why Leicester don't just play Gray instead of blocking his progress with Townsend.

AOC must have accepted his new role as a wing back - smart move on his part. Plus Chelsea have another homegrown player.

English, 24 decent player. If he wasn't last year of contract then the money is good and we have a lot to spend considering we have a £10m/£20m net spend and never spent the Oscar money either.

Pay the money and get the deal done

That's a good point Leicester are morons Gray needs to call his agent.

I think that's his best shot at actually starting there. He ain't gonna displace Pedro. He couldn't even displace Theo Walcott.

I don't think he cares about starting so much as getting his own way. If Chelsea play him there they'll be buying the same player that's at Arsenal now, one who just doesn't give a shit. If they want anything out of him at all they need to play him where he wants to play, but why would they do that if it's detriment to the team?

Ox is a good buy. Don't care about the money anyways, itsnotmymoney.jpg.
Ox will be backup RWB, or even RW as needed. He will play under Conte who is 10x better coach than Wenger so he will improve. His crosses are much better than Moses already. Only positioning needs work and Conte is there for him at touch lines shouting his mouth off, and not sitting in the dugout playing with water bottles and zippers.

Now let's get 3 more signings and we are in for League title.

3 more signings? At what positions?

Not sure about Ox. Never liked him much. But on the plus side, he will be one of the few homegrown at the club, and can play quite a few positions. I trust Conte sees something in him... He did manage to make Moses into a pretty good right wing back after all. So lets see.

Llorente in would be very nice. Batshuayi has for me proven enough times that he is just not good enough. Another CM would also be nice, should take a gamble on Barkley I think.

I somewhat doubt it will be more than two new players though, no matter how many Chelsea are linked to.

Any tiny desire to have Ox at Liverpool (really wasn't any to begin with) vanished yesterday seeing his performance at our place. Whew.

Batsman travelling in style

Also Oxlade was terrible yesterday but I'm fairly confident Conte can whip him into shape again. A polyvalent player is always a solid squad addition. Plus we're not exactly swimming in English players at the moment.

Why did Ox start yesterday at the expense of Bellerin being played in position and Kolasinac starting if he was going to be sold?

That's sheer idiocy.

I don't think you should attempt to make sense or find logic, in the decisions of Wenger. While senility is nothing to joke about, you gotta wonder if it has set in.

Did you see the confirmation of drinkwater on the official page before it was removed?
Not too thrilled with the prices for ox or drink water but the market is nuts and given what conte managed with moses and alonso i have some faith he knows what he is doing.

While I will lay into him for his bad decisions like you say senility is not a joke so don't go there mate.

Ox made his debut in the 8-2 defeat at Old Trafford and rounds off his Arsenal career with a 4-0 loss at Anfield. That's kinda progress.

So you don't forget...

Though it might have removed because the ox deal went through.

Is this real? Weird.

Happy with drinkwater as a back up when Baka and cesc are main players.

I do think that we need to sign another wing back to challenge Alonso even if £60m for Alex santos is excessive… another striker ok, not sure we really need Barkley though…
