The latest Middle Earth Shadow of War trailer captures the true spirit of Tolkien

I mean, they already made Shelob a love sick school girl who took spider form because her boy toy betrayed her. That should have tipped you off that they don't give a shit about the "spirit" of the franchise.

And honestly, this is the dev team/marketing team just having a bit of fun. Granted, it would be much more at home with a Saints Row type game rather than something like LOTR.

Wow I really really really want to be excited and hyped to play this game but it seems like the marketing team really really really doesn't want me to be.

Someone saw an Assassin's Creed trailer and didn't understood a single thing why they have awesome trailers

This is fucking hysterical

The LoTR trilogy is my all time favorite series of films, and yet nothing about what Monolith is doing bothers me.

If they want to go nuts with the fiction, let them. It's a video game.

Not going to give them any money for this, but one has to admire how far everyone involved in developing and promoting this game are taking the "gives no fucks" mentality in terms of respecting the IP they're working with. It's impressive and fun to watch from a distance.

Man.. not gonna bother with this game. Shit is ridiculous. The lootboxes and shelob already lol. Forced always online.. ads ingame on the pause menu.

This game man.

WB games doing what they usual do, which is not understanding games at all.

I mean we can take issue with their interpretation of the source material, or things like the micro transactions.

But WB has many critically and commercially well received games under their belt, so this is false.

Goodness me. I knew that thread title wasn't to be taken seriously, but still. That was... I don't even know what that was.

I think laughter is probably the best response at this point. What does it matter anyway, the game might still be fun. I hope the people who buy it enjoy it.

I love this trailer. They are experimenting and I think it's great. Why does every (high-fantasy) rpg-trailer have to have a monumental orchestral soundtrack? Let them go wild. Good job Monolith!

I'll echo what Xander Cage said in the Shelob thread.

This Dev team truly wishes they hadn't been made to work on this property.

Does this game benefit at all from having the license, both for fans or the creators? Seems more like an anchor for the over the top high fantasy they clearly want to go with it.

This Trailer would've gotten me super hyped if the devs of this were old Volition.

Edit: Also, Rap for the exclusively orc focused trailer is

Yeah. I loved the first one but at this point I'm not sure how the LOTR license helps them in any way, aside from branding.
