The hype for this game reminds me of the hype generated for Project Spark, Scalebound and Fable Legends.

Get your resumes updated, Rare folks.

Love my Xbox One, but Phil Spencer has really done a terrible job with building and maintaining many of these 1st party projects and studios. Also, Microsoft seems to be a "Kill it" not a "Fix it" company: See Kinect, Windows Phone and all the things I mentioned above.

I hope they release the minimum specs and its like some 2005 era cpu or something...would be kinda funny just to see it there on the spec sheet . I should put my GT720 back in my pc see if it works! lol.....

edit - also would be funny to have uncapped framerate at 540p to see if people could get up to like 200 fps

Have you played the game?

Game is in Alpha stage and the number of people playing it is quite large.

That's exactly my point: don't take advantage of players who can't meet spec just so you can get another sale.

They added it because people with these types of computers
were fine with in the alpha. Why do you think you know what they want better than them.
From my experience people with these computers are usually fine playing games like WoW with 10fps

Nice play, thread was starting to die down a bit.....

In all seriousness, the game looks great and fun as well. I should really start thinking about getting a 4k setup, though it's quite pricey if you want proper HDR support.

Could get an Xbox One X and then if you want to play on your computer just login there?

I'm playing right now and I'm under NDA but you know what? Fuck it; have a gif about how it looks

I thought this game isn't really that graphically impressive.

It sort of already looks like it would run on a pretty modest laptop.

Who the fuck enjoys playing at 15 fps?

If I had a super crappy PC I would buy a game with ultra-low settings over a game where everything is optimized for high-end PCs. Locked 15 is probably easier to get used to than a framerate that is bouncing between 10 and 30 all the time. Torchlight had a mode for cheap laptops and I remember it being a huge selling point for people with cheap laptops.

I'm trying to wrap my head around a thread where people are shitting on a developer giving built-in options for people with low-end PCs and laptops?

i guffaw'd at this at first but majority of "pc gamers" aren't even playing on mid tier rigs much less mid-high to high.

kind of a stretch that that audience will be attracted to the game, but doesn't hurt to cover that base i guess

I wouldn't use these features but I guess they're cool.

I wonder if the game would run on my ultrabook with integrated graphics lol

How did so many people take this seriously? Obviously it's a joke.

I feel when I first started here, people were more quick to catch humor in things like this. Now it's like I'm on the IGN free boards

The game plays at 4k or uncapped if you want it and can run it.

Why would you be pissed about them saying that people can play the game at 540p and 15fps if they want?

Why do people get pissed about stuff that has no impact on them or the development of the game? Its not running at 15fps on consoles or most computers.

Maybe read more than the first sentence? I'm not mad at all. My PC sucks and I'm glad when devs consider weaker hardware, but 15 fps is kinda asinine in a world where everyone and their mother complains when a game is only 30. If 30 is cinematic, what's 15 then? The amount of people in here who suddenly want to game on their 8 years old laptop or think a lot of people would like to do that is astounding.

It's not like the aim of a real life powder cannon could be adjusted several times a second. Even the firing mechanism should have a perceptible latency. A low framerate would impact smoothness, but for gameplay in that specific scenario I don't see anything that would require fast updates.
Sword fighting might be more problematic, although I don't think it's the kind of game where you need to trigger counters in short time windows, that's no Metal Gear Rising.
I think every shooter needs smooth framerate. Rocketlaunchers in Quake fire rather slowly, that doesn't mean any sane person would try that online at 15 fps. Obviously this is not Quake, but you shoot nontheless. I actually see less problems with melee fighting in that regard.

Well I guess if attention of the cynical and humorless variety was what Rare was aiming for, then this thread shows they have succeeded in a big way.

Or the attention of people who suddenly think 15fps in an online game where you can shoot at each other is something someone seriously considers. I can guarantee you that 95% of people in here never were in one of the dev update threads, and not all of them are cynical or humorless like me.

What exactly are you mad about here?

Nothing really. If I came across as mad I should work on my wording i guess.

While you're being dramatic, there's a pretty big difference between 15fps and 7fps in that the latter is below the threshold for motion perception. It's going to start looking like a slideshow of images rather than video.

Sure thing, but you'd still find people in here who would say that's fine as long they can play it on their windows 2000 laptop, because considering those makes total sense.
Anyway we've come a long way from "no internet? We got a 360 for you" to this.

Prepare to be berated for choosing to spend your money on something other than an Xbone or a new PC.

As a recently married man, yeah, fuck the bills to pay and the furniture to think of. I will buy a $2K PC to be a tr00 gamer deserving of the experience and fuck myself over financially for years to come.

Fuck this stupid elitism. Games are not a priority to me for the foreseeable future, due to budget and this gen's minimum specs (and the ridiculous prices set here in Brazil).

But if this game is shipping with this option, Rare just got a sale from me now with this attitude. Gotta support this.
