Just like to say screw 32X.

I didn't know that it region locked "things"

I'm messing around with my sega cd bios through my Everdrive cart and I couldn't get the jp wondermega to load. Thought it was strange cause I got it to pop up the other day . Tried to play sailor moon, nope. Told me it was region locked. I know because I own the cart and it wouldn't let me. Tried to play pulse man and it told me it was region locked. I took the 32x and everything worked liked a charm lol

Confession: I've never even seen a 32x in person, let alone played one.

Lol what?

I rented one right after I got home from my vacation in Disney world 1995 or 1996.

I know it was around that time because i really wanted to see the wcw ppv where Goldberg fought Kevin Nash for the belt.

My friend got one for xmas and I eventually ended up with his knuckles choatix game. Another friend got one from Walmart heavily discounted with the starwars game and knuckles choatix

I remember having one as a kid because my parents got a Genesis late in it's life and I think when they bought one it came with the Sega CD and 32X. Don't really remember playing any games design for it through, unlike the Sega CD where I remember having Eternal Champion and Spider-Man. Shame we long sold those systems so I have to track down a Sega CD again that working.

Speaking of tracking down Sega systems, what the best place to get a Sega Saturn that is working and at least has a controller? I been looking on ebay for a while, but can't find one that a good enough price. That or I finally see a good one and it has a tiny text saying "treats games as cds".

My original Saturn's laser died. I got my next one at a Value Village for ten dollars back when that sort of thing was still possible. Then I got another one on craigslist with a few games, the original box and a wheel. Then I developed a rare disease where everytime I saw a Saturn sit on the shelf at the local retro store for more than a week I decided it was lonely and needed a home that would love it...

I'd say no price is too low for a Saturn. The games are so expensive that if you're gunshy on the system you have no hope for the games.

I'm paying 70USD to have one shipped to me by another gaffer. As long as the laser is in good condition it's worth getting imo. Eventually need to get it RHEA/PHOEBE'd though

edt: Just found out my buddy will donate me a Japanese Saturn in exchange for helping setup his home theater setup

My 32x and Sega CD don't play nice with each other. If I have my 32x and Genesis (Model 1) hooked up, everything works fine. If I hook up my Model 1 Genny and Sega CD, everything's fine. But all three at once cause weird video artifacts and glitching.

I guess no Backdraft 32x CD for me, haha

I had 32X with Chaotix, Virtua Fighter, Virtua Racing, and Star Wars Arcade, and thought it was pretty cool. I remember the day we got it, my Mom got me Taco Bell as a treat, too, but the bitch behind the counter put sour cream on my soft tacos, so I can't think about 32X without phantom tasting sour cream ruined tacos. I was 7 and I think it was possibly the first example of food being ruined and coincidentally that it was the same day I got the 32X. That thing had some bad juju working to ensure it failed hard.

I love sour cream : / Did you have a Sega CD or did you jump straight to the 32x after having a Genesis? I never knew anyone who had a 32x.

I somehow have 12 32x games now, highlight being chaotix which I haven't really played yet. Only games that I have completed are Night Trap and Slam City featuring Scottie Pippen.

I love sour cream now, but didn't as a kid, also it's a weird flavor texture when you don't expect it. I had a Model 1 Genesis, a CDX, and a 32X, then a Saturn, a Japanese Dreamcast modded to be region free and a US Dreamcast. That's my Sega console system adventure as a child.

Question: can I use an USA Sega Genesis Console with a Japanese Mega CD unit (or vice versa)

You can trick the Mega CD to be whatever region by using an Everdrive with whatever BIOS that you are trying to load games for. I don't know specifically about plugging a Japanese Mega CD in a US Genesis but you can play Japanese Mega CD titles on a US Genesis/CD by using the Japanese BIOS.

I asked this on the Sega CD thread, and apparently you can do this, but each device with work natively with its own specific region unless that is augmented somehow (Everdrive, etc.)

At my parents, found this guy in my old bedroom.

The screen and speakers are busted, though. Anybody have any recommendations for peeps that could help me out with repairs??

Nice collection! Looks like the capacitors have gone on it, I had a GG in similar condition and changing the caps bought the sound and picture back. Do you have a soldering iron? If you do you could probably fix it yourself, it's not too difficult just takes awhile. I think a few places sell complete cap kits so you don't have to source them yourself.

Yup, this is it. Game Gears have notoriously bad capacitors, they tend to be it pretty poor condition nowadays. I recapped mine using a kit I bought online a few weeks back and it's doing great now. Granted, mine wasn't as bad as yours (the screen still worked, albeit dimly, and I had no sound).

I wouldn't recommend the procedure if you don't have soldering experience, since the caps are really small and you can easily do some damage to the board removing the old ones.

No pictures yet, but at a con today and I managed to turn a free duplicate copy of Giga Wing 2 I had gotten years ago into a PSP 3001, and sealed copies of Trials of Cold Steel I lionheart edition and the regular edition of Trials of Cold Steel II, both for the vita.

I ended up buying a new used Dreamcast to replace the one I got for free that won't read discs and want to finally try it out, but what the best method. I heard VGA is really good, is that the best method if I plan on playing it on a PVM and OSSC (also got a component CRT)? I do have a old style computer monitor as well. Also the best place to get the cables, as the place mentioned Retro RGB is sold out right now.

Such multi-purpose use, that Mega Drive. It also doesn't have a drive of any sort. Sega posting flat out engrish lies on their consoles tsk tsk... lol

Different games require different cables (annoyingly). A Toro will be able to handle everything though. It can output 240p, 480i, and 480p via SCART. Then, if you need to, you can convert to component with a transcoder.
