*shrug*, 350,000 views and counting on NeoGAF
Kotaku has an article about it and the Firewatch dev issuing a DMCA.
WELL gamespot and eurogamer already have stuff on it and austin walker was tweeting about it. You may have Jeff or Alex muse about it on GB
Dude, the first post of mine you quoted is as clear as it gets on what I think about Jim and what it proves.Proving what, exactly? Use your words.
It's sad because this is a genuine inquiry. I think it's a bit late. You just have that collective group of young teens and adults that think they're being funny and ironic or that it doesn't really count when they say it.
One thing I love about these kind of threads is all those closeted racist/apologist coming out and getting banned.
LOVELY.
Adam Sessler on Twitter. Paul F. Tompkins's response on twitter was p funny.Has anyone with a large following spoke up yet?
Will this be picked up by the major gaming sites or are they going to kowtow to gamergate commenters and stay away from this topic?
Is this supposed to be a joke post? I'm confused right now
seeing PFT dunk on that idiot was amazingAdam Sessler on Twitter. Paul F. Tompkins's response on twitter was p funny.
Game Informer tooKotaku, Polygon, GameSpot all have stories and it's Sunday night.
Has anyone with a large following spoke up yet?
What?People give the word nigger way too much power. There's no other word in the English language that has so much impact.
I'm not defending anyone. Advertisers will punish accordingly
Yeah. Me being critical of his first response to this means exactly that thank you so much for reading between the lines
The reason why it has so much power is beacause it has been used for so long and in such a hurtful way. You can't just erase that.People give the word nigger way too much power. There's no other word in the English language that has so much impact.

I know people here hate him but Totalbiscuit did. https://twitter.com/Totalbiscuit/status/906963527444951041
Hes been talking about it all day as well as the actual legality of lets plays with the guys behind Fire watch taking down PDP's videos of that game.

I'm a bit confused by some of the reactions here to Jim Sterling's tweet.... "Liability" isn't a solely monetary term
Regarding the initial offense by PDP: fuuuuuuuuuuuuck this guy

The first response to this particular incident. It's important to stand up to it every time it happens. His first response to PewDiePie and the rest of his ilk was this: "Youtubers Say The Darnest Things."

Fuck that
If you can't stand up and say "racism is bad" because people might not care, then those people aren't worth caring about
Jim's tweet is bad
Opposing racism is more important than potential profit loss. You lead with that

"so its okay for blacks to say it but not for felix?!"
I mean, the only way to reappropiate the slur and give it a better context is by the groups affected by it to use it and give it a better light, right?

Most gamers are out to rationalize and defend PDP because they already do the same shit online.

The answer to his question is that he totally can, too. Because nothing will happen. Nobody will even hear him.
Also why is he so concerned about being able to call people "niggers" in online multiplayer?
Pewdiepie streams to hundreds of thousands/millions of people.
Who are these "people" you speak of?

Okay? What's your pointThis news is eight hours old and it's Sunday.
No, that's not what I'm saying. I'm saying when you choose to approach the situation from "this could be bad for us" instead of "this is a terrible thing he did" that that's a bad first response and gives a bad impressionDoes Jim really have to spell it out for everyone that he dislikes racists and such?
He's been doing that for several years now.

My quote on Jim wasn't an attack by any means.
It was the broader context. I'm sure we'll see more youtubers coming out against him since he IS fucking with their money.
Because that tweet is following other tweets from youtubers like TB worrying this is going to effect them financially, so "liability" is easy to read as being along those lines. It's also much easier to see how PDP is a liability to people financially than in other ways.
YepI googled liability
li·a·bil·i·ty
noun
1.
the state of being responsible for something, especially by law.
"the partners accept unlimited liability for any risks they undertake"
2.
a person or thing whose presence or behavior is likely to cause embarrassment or put one at a disadvantage.
"he has become a political liability"
I was a little confused too at first but Jim's tweet checks out.
Do you think he doesn't take issue with it otherwise? The first response to this particular incident. It's important to stand up to it every time it happens.
