You forgot the time some nonwhites were suckered into gamergate via #notyourshield to be "one of the good ones" for the white supremacists/alt-right of gaming. Until they started being kicked out for speaking up about racial issues that actually affected them and white people had to dismiss them. A lot of nonwhites will sell out just to be in with the "cool" edgy white trolls.

It makes me fucking sick to my stomach that these fucking fascists are so goddamn wealthy, and for what? Playing video games all day and making a complete ass of themselves while slowly revealing their true, racist colors?

These are a whole nother beast. Those swears are general and while they are vulgar and shouldn't be said, that are different than using a racial slur, which would mean that you hate the race the slur is designated to a great deal by default. As a Christian, I'm not going to lie I have sworn occasionally when things didn't go my way, but I have never felt the need to whip out the ANY sort of slur to express my anger. This is simply unacceptable.

Out of curiosity, who here said a slur in private regarding Muslims, Asians, etc. in their daily life ? Just wondering how widespread this is. Not trying to defend him.

Had he said it in private, would it be okay ? I see racism everyday (I'm Muslim) and I never see this kind of reaction from bystanders. My wife was spit on, I was insulted, etc. Yet, the general feeling we get is that people don't care. I'm surprised at the reaction people have here. That's good !

Whether or not it bothers you isn't relevant to whether a word has power or not. If words meant nothing, nothing good or bad would ever happen. Using slurs and racist language like this isn't really about making you feel bad. They're used by one group to classify your group as something sub-human. It makes it easier to abuse you, as people aren't going to empathise as much if they think of you as some "other". Your not being offended really doesn't factor in at all.

For those saying it's just a word: My 10 year old brother loves to watch YouTube. I would not want for him to see this kind of behaviour so chill and casual, normalizing it, most of it from the most suscribed dude on the platform.

well, I mean, if no one is around to hear it then the only person who knows he used the slur would be himself

with this he had a camera and mic on him

also, I personally don't see the point of using slurs generally, even when I'm alone. Don't see the reason I'd want to.

Yup. This is what people need to realize as well. Some of them do it to "fit in" but once they start speaking out about shit that doesn't fit the agenda they are cast out as well.



I know I've said this before, but I really do hope that some gaming sites pick this up and report on it. Like it or not he's the face of gaming to millions of people. He should definitely be put under a damn microscope. You're seeing bits of it on twitter and on youtube, but he preface needs to be that this is a problem. There is huge amounts of sexism and racism in gaming, online gaming and frankly just online.

This forum is veeeery permissive when you're not being a complete asshole to others or a racist, so if you get/got banned and read this post, think about it for a second

As many people have already stated I'm surprised that anyone is surprised that someone that has made a fortune of shit like this is continuing to do this shit.... having said that I'm also surprised that I'm use to hearing this shit being said on a daily basis, but that mostly has to do with the fact that I have some of the most racist brown people as friends (FYI I'm also brown before anyone starts attacking me). But ya hopefully this will be a wake up call, especially for someone that has so much influence over a younger demography! Let's make some noise.

If dude said it in private we wouldn't know so it wouldn't matter. But if you want to show yourself in public there are certain expectations of behvaviour that are expected. Like be civil and dont say racial slurs. I dont think it's that hard. As far as ever saying a racial slur if I did I csnt remember it. Certainly had said some off base shit in my teen years though. Which is why watching a dude in his 20 say this shit is just :/
