The Tatami Galaxy - 1

Occultic;Nine was sufficient training for me to just about follow this episode without pausing. Enjoyed it though but leaves some still don't know what I've got myself into.

Pumpkin Scissors - 1

Now this is a show I'd really like with it's characters and setting if it just wasn't so rough around the edges. Cast are likable enough that I'll forge on with it.

lol im gone for a couple of days and this circus is what happens

Look, no one cares. Honestly. It's a shitty show with nice action and a nothing plot. This community doesn't give a fuck about the show because it sucks. Other than Cornbread I don't think anyone cares to waste their time talking about shitty shows.
You make it seem like we actually talk about good shows either.

I read the ones that aren't about Imaishit.

The fuck? While most of you were slurping up KLK, I was the one arguing it was trash to begin with. I remember arguing with like half this thread that the show was bad to begin with.

That's just 7th's fault. I always said it was bad! Other than trolling people about CG superiority!

I think I'm just watching for the ED at this point. This is all craziness. Been too long between watching the episodes..

And yet you still paid $1000 for that painting of Honnouji Academy.
So? Yuuji Kaneko is a great artist. Just because a show as a whole is bad doesn't mean that every aspect or everyone invovled did a bad job. He was the art director for LWA too. If he had done one of Luna Nova I would have gone after that too.

That's not even the most I've spent either on a single piece or in a year. I've spent over 5k on anime auction pieces this year alone.

...True true.

I'm just joshing ya.

That seems to be theme tonight. :p

I'll be shocked if I'm wrong about who Yukari will choose at the end of Love and Lies, especially after today's episode. I've been enjoying this show despite its problem; I just wish it integrated some more of the system and ideology of this society in the second half a little more. Still, it's been a solid watch, even if I'd argue it's become a little less clever than it was at the beginning as the show went along.

It is a fact universally known that Kyoani peaked with Munto. Don't know what you're all getting worked up about. It's been all downhill ever since.

I am honestly half expecting to be disappointed by Violet Evergarden lol.

At least there's Silent Voice for me to watch.

There are some stuff I'm embarassed about splurging on but the Kaneko art isn't one.

I have a shikishi of an awful Yoshi drawn haphazardly by three animators. I regret winning that.

Gundam Build Fighters: Battlogue 2

plz let obari make a 52 ep s3 with a new cast, the og cast, and no one from try except sakai and gyanko

You'll get the whole cast from Try, and probably multiple episodes focusing on the love triangles/squares.

Search your feelings Narag, you know it to be true.

Well, so long as Artistic Grand Prix Champion Yuuma Kousaka earns the title of Meijin Kawaguchi IV, I'll alow it.

Cast is the least of Try's problems, though this is coming from someone who is generally a fan of it, all things considered. It's in the top half of Gundam series, which says more about how much shitty gundam there is than anything.

A show where none of the MC character is interesting will never stays as top half of Gundam series lol.

And whats even worst, only a single rival is interesting the rest scuks balls.

I'd say it's actually the worst of it as it's a bunch of unlikable assholes (save for Sakai, Gyanko, and Meijin Kawaguchi III) that are terribly unfun to watch together and only tolerated to get to the parts with robots fighting. GM Counterattack OVA also showed me the original crew veered dangerously close to this same thing and what Try truly lacked was a character that served as a lens for all the various relationships that brought them into better focus like Reiji did.

The cast was definitely a problem in Try. Half the girls wanted to suck the MC's dick about one episode after meeting him. There weren't any good rivals and the ones they did introduce halfway through the series ended up being pitiful. On top of that, the core three had little chemistry with each other throughout the show's run.

Whats even worst on Try is how uninteresting the MC team style of battle. Not even a single creativity.

Also the mecha sadly is also so damn uninteresting. Too much Gundam type.

If I remember correctly, most battles ended up in segments of 1 vs 1 anyway.

All I watch is anime.

Certainly that's what I mostly watch. There being little non anime of interest doesn't help, but I'd think if there was lots of non anime I could give a shit bout I might be watching less. At least during weaker seasons.

That's kind of why I scratch my head at the whole 'peak tv' discussion. there's hardly any western TV being made that i care about. Its a drought as far as I'm concerned.

Re:Creators 21

I really do appreciate that this ending climax:
  • Reflects the larger themes the show has expressed over its previous episodes
  • Serves as a powerful culmination of the development of a few of the main characters
  • Was properly established by previous events
  • Follows logically from character motivations to this point
  • Isn't entirely fucking meaningless for the plot and for everyone involved
  • Oh god why am I remembering Aldnoah/Zero aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

No, really, it actually turned out pretty well. It was foreshadowed just enough not to feel like a cheap asspull, and it closed things out in a coherent way. As much as Sota feels like an ungainly vestigial appendage through most of the series, he fills a valuable role here.

So much of the story of creation in this show was kind of depressingly corporate. All the major stakeholders we talk to are part of large media empires, doling out serial plots to mass audiences. On a meta layer (in terms of the power of their creations), everything is about what those audiences think, how they feel about the story, whether they trust its consistency or its direction. They're making things for the consumption of others.

As a result, it's nice that everything gets resolved with a creation motivated not by profit or the satisfaction of the masses, but by creation as a personal act for one's own benefit, which is where all of this kind of starts. The validation of others is nice, but nobody would write or draw if they didn't find something in it for themselves.

I hope the denouement is nice. I might feel pretty okay about this in the end, which would be a pleasant surprise for what started as basically a hatewatch.

Hot take: Anime is bad and people who watch too much anime tend to be bad.

Just like gaming.^_^

Yes. I mean. Whats the use of team battle if in almost all battle, it end up becoming 1 vs 1? Hell there is even worst part where the other 2 is just standing and Sekai literally carry the whole team lol.

Hey, the first season wasn't that bad.

That second season though...

I liked the first half of the first season well enough, but then they started playing stuff seriously in the second half and completely lost me.

Admittedly, I have a heavy bias on my view of it since I disagreed with the "resolution" to Takanashi's issues on a moral level.

91 Days OVA

A serviceable, but ultimately kinda empty OVA. Doesn't really provide that much more insight into the characters like I hoped it would.

Shin Hurricane Polymar - just familiarizing myself with everyone in Infini-T Force. Still gotta watch Tekkaman, but between the other three Polymar is the least interesting. He's just a guy in a motorcycle helmet and he unlocks the power by accident. The best thing he's got going for him is a sick theme song.

Plastic Little - Bouncy.

Paniponi Dash! - Took a while for me to actually get through this one as it just wasn't resonating with me. Not enough body heat for my liking. An Adventures of God and Mesousa spin off would be more my thing. Those two were A+.

A Country Doctor - Well that was sure something. Really into this art style and tone. More Kafka anime!

High School DxD - Season 1 - More interesting than expected! So I guess I'm in and I have to watch the next season now.

Twilight Q - The first episode was alright, and I was hoping that it would continue in the second episode, but it didn't. Boo. The second episode just wasn't as interesting.

Patlabor on Television - ALL CREAR - Ended up being pretty enjoyable despite the characters not being my cup of tea. I feel pretty good not watching anymore Patlabor now, but I might still check out EZY when that happens.

Petshop of Horrors - This on the other hand, I'd certainly watch more of. A new updated take on this that adapts more of the manga would be grand. Quite enjoyed the soundtrack too.

She, The Ultimate Weapon - AKA 5 I'm Sorry's Per Second - I wish they had gotten to the ending a little faster so they could have had more of a prologue; and there are details I wish were better explained or even explained at all, but I generally enjoyed this one.
