That wasn't a good apology. He didn't mention that the word he used, the n word, is a slur aimed at Black people both online and off. That normalizing that type of vernacular puts his platform and everyone else video ventures at risk. And most of all, young children, can be influenced by this type of behavior and take it out on their black peers.

I don't like lumping people together but did we expect anything more from his fans comments? I'd say a majority are just kids that are blinded by the character PewDiePie and the rest are the type of people who were defending it before as 'just a word'.

The biggest problem for me, beyond the issue of him insulting people, is the way he is handling this: come out and explain yourself, your beliefs, and explain to people why you are doing/saying those stuff. Don't chicken out, because this devaluates you completely.

I remember the same argument being made in the last thread about PDP, a complete deflection. It's not PDP, it's you all because you wanted to hate him from the start so nothing he will ever say will be good enough anyway, so really who's at fault here? Round and round we go. See everybody at the next PDP thread where he does something worse and it will somehow be my fault.
Funny thing is, I never had a problem with the guy until he started having controversies. I was never a fan or anything but I would call out others for saying stupid shit like he needs to get a real job. I watched a few of his videos for games I was interested in like South Park and some of his VR stuff. But then yeah, here we are now, and me being a decent person, there is nothing to defend here. He's obviously a shit person and racist. But shame on me for thinking that of the man.

Because PDP is in a position of influence, and he has the ability to turn this into a positive learning experience for others who might use the word out of sheer ignorance, rather than hatred. Instead, he just uses the heated moment excuse and doesn't acknowledge the absolute heinousness of the word.
When I used the word in the past, it was purely out of ignorance. I was young and impressionable, and it's what I heard all around me when playing Counter-Strike. I equated it to a really bad swear word. And that's essentially what PDP has done here. His young impressionable viewers will be oblivious to the implications of using such language.

I think Elliot44 is trying to say there are French streamers who use racist terms all the time, and they're never called out for it, so he doesn't get why this particular instance is such a big deal.

I never followed his video but I use to think they were harmless and good for children to have simple minded content to watch for games they like.
Then I saw a 9gag image saying "Why can't we all be like PDP. He is Swedish/White but acts like a sassy black woman. He's a panda!" And then I knew this idiot was going to influence a generation to become low achievers.
