Yeah they are incredibly unpleasant to watch

Too much grinding and not enough sleep. I have to admit, I got a little snappy myself last night during a Rat King run in the Nightfall.

Then when I just resigned myself to it not happening and relaxing, bam 5:20 on the clock and boss kill.

They are adding guided mm for it. But they need groups to figure stuff out first. Otherwise it's going to be a pain with people just leaving when things get tough.

Sure but in the meantime we have to scour forums hoping to find a group if you don't have a group of friends with 4+ hours spare at the same time which is virtually impossible.

Having to do this just for a hope at trying the new content on launch day is just silly. I guess I can wait until everyone else already has the gear and hope this guided games thing doesn't land me in a match with 5 friends who all expect me to play like a god and then bitch if I cant.

I'd much rather try it and watch people drop out than sit here spamming lfg all night.

Not sure if you've caught any of the raid yet.. you absolutely need a mic for this. Matchmaking opens the possibility of someone joining w/o a mic.

Now if it's matchmaking with a mandatory mic requirement.. that's a different story.

I'm down for that. Make whatever requirements. Just allow people to actually try would be a good start.

Platinum Trophy: Learned to Shit While Upright Again.
3.5 hours for story? Teach me your ways

Bypass everything bruh

No reason to kill trash, I did that on my Titan and Hunter main campaign back to back

You can literally run past everything, if you are decked out and level 20 and PL 200+

Shit last 2 missions, I think I only fought 3 encounters and the boss... LoL

So what's the most coveted weapon currently?

Scout: Call to Serve, Nameless Midnight, MIDA
Hand Cannon: Better Devils, Sunshot
Pulse: Nightshade, Disrespectful Stare
Auto: Scathlocke, Uriel's Gift (personal favorite since I don't have the former yet)
SMG: no idea, all of them feels awful without a legendary stability mod

I've been told the Auto Rifle, Origin Story, is is pretty good as well

I have Call To Serve and Nameless Midnight, and I can't decide which I prefer.
Nameless Midnight just tears everything apart. It's not even funny, I can't see how I will want to use MIDA in PVE when I attain it...

But aesthetically, Call To Serve looks more my style...

someone told me that the Raid has no checkpoint, so if you were stuck at a step and quit the mission, you restart from the beginning

is this true or he's a troll ?

Disrespectful Stare seems rather unremarkable? Or maybe I'm thinking of something different.

If any of you are still experiencing the error ce-34878-0, I just spoke to two reps on Sony's end and they both suggest I send in the console for troubleshooting. It may be hyperbolic at this point, but without any other knowledge the popular opinion is that it is a hardware problem. Unless Activision and Sony fix the issue with a patch, we might actually have to get replacement machines. I'm a day-one owner and don't really want to buy a new console just for one game.

Your progress is still saved, but its just done differently.

Regarding how it works:
The raid is set up to where you go back to the starting room after every puzzle / encounter.

It's more or less exactly as I figured it would be, more Destiny. Not all together a bad thing, as the game play loop is as addictive as ever, but I can already feel the dread of replaying these story missions.

Speaking of story, I feel Bungie has no idea where to take this narrative. The story is so segmented and tacked together by these one off cinematics, that it's just as disjointed as vanilla. I didn't expect anything Oscar worthy, or even Last of Us quality, but from their talk, you would have thought they really thought it through, and had something worthy. The chatter back and forth between your Ghost and Failsafe is pretty horrible. In general, the writing is inconsistent, sophomoric and an afterthought.

Enjoying the game play loop enough to continue on. Just another missed opportunity I feel. Hopefully the raid is amazing.

Hope this is the raid that finally makes some people realise that matchmaking with randoms without mics, with no guarantee as to whether they know any of the mechanics, would be a terrible idea. Wouldn't have worked before, but this raids requirement for communication is on another level.

Oh sure they could've made a boss that has one person read a sequence of 3 numbers to someone who can't read them

but that undermines the fact that raids can be challenging whilst not requiring that type of communication.

i played with a group and we got stuck in
the Bathers step
, they kept dying and they gave up, i went back to orbit alone and tried to enter the raid to see if i will return to
the Bathers step
, it took me back to the beginning

did really well, know the strat can kill a few. But tiredness and lack of time was an enemy. VERY cool raid.

Hmm... for auto I have been using Origin Story and Jiangshi. Jiangshi seems to be pretty much identical to Uriel but I find it handles better. In PVP both of these are like lasers and they are very good at range.

Does it still only apply for the fireteam leader?

I'm not saying an encounter can't be challenging without requiring communication, I'm saying I've always doubted the legitimacy of people suggesting that the raids in Destiny could have been a positive experience with random people, with no microphones, of which only half or less know the mechanics of the encounters.

This raid only exemplifies that.

This doesn't make any sense. I'm at what feels like the midpoint of the campaign or so, but it's the tightest narrative since TTK and far more expansive. I understand where I am and why, how I relate to the other characters, what their goals are, who the villain is and their motivation, and the plans we're forming to combat him.

Literally none of that applied to the first game, which had no story for most of its duration, though TTK added some framing text to a few of the missions to string one together. The only narrative thread begins when we go to the Reef for the first time and kick off a handful of missions to get into the Black Garden. None of the other missions in the game are tied to that thread, they are paired together or stand-alone, devoid of context outside of the opening narration. Go through the campaign right now and a large hunk of the original missions aren't even tied into quests, they just unlock as optional side missions, discrete from the story they tried to cobble together when TTK released.

Destiny 1 had a premise, Destiny 2 is telling a story.

Our group got to the
Pleasure Garden
before calling it a night. Continuing tomorrow.

The Pleasure Garden seems very doable but one side is definitely easier than the others to run the orbs. I could basically do my side from memory and there is a safe spot with view on all the points, allowing me to solo that left side without need for direction from above. Right side we run into a lot of trouble because the different geometry there makes it hard for the one on the ground to spot things. We'll get there tomorrow~

Agreed.
The missions in Destiny 1 never felt like the tied into an overarching narrative at all, but rather felt like disjoint snippets of this universe they wanted to show you.

Say what you will about the simplicity of the story in Destiny 2 (or the absurdity of the bad guy's plan), the main missions all tie together along one narrative beat. Everything you do relates to the initial call to action... Ghaul showed up, took your space orb, your loot, and your light...and that of your friends too. Oh and he wants to rule the universe. What are you going to do about it?

Destiny 1: hi! I'm your space Ghost! I woke you up from eons of death. Let's have fun adventures you won't understand. No I don't have time to explain...hey look at this Black Garden!

It's sad that we are applauding the fact that they told a simple straight narrative like this. Destiny 1 was awful, the bar was super low.

I know this is a bit late to propose this, but I've been watching bits and pieces of the streams and getting hyped. Anyone down for a semi-blind attempt at 9 PM EST on PS4?
