Sam Raimi's Drag Me To Hell.

Forgot how much I liked this movie, until I watched it again on TV the other week.

I actually got to go to the Hollywood premier of this movie. I was surprised at how much I liked it. Its funny and scary at the same time. Raimi shows off his expert chops at all the 3-stooges-with-gore setups.

Personally speaking Violence Jack wins with those Hellraiser gifs... maybe missing the mattress one but yea... good stuff.

You folks remember reading Fangoria in the book stores in the 90's? Did a great job highlighting graphic scenes of movies I had no idea how to get a hold of.

I hated Drag me to Hell so much, one of the few times I walked out of the theater :/

Jump scare after jump scare, plus the occasional grossness. Not that it was bad as a movie or anything, but the whole experience was getting more and more unpleasant.

I get real scared watching horror movies but when I rewatch them and even more so in gif form for the scared. I'm like "seriously this scared me?" I think not knowing the unknown scares me but after I just see "oh it's just a costume or not happening in real life". Going to haunted trails or houses don't do anything to me either.

Oh that cabin fever scene with her shaving her leg does give me itchy ass feeling every time lol. I'm like uhhhhhh.....

Switch Back 9

a lot of my threads involve me fucking up somehow. Perhaps I'm a moron?
The lightbulb eating in Oculus cut me deep. I've had recurring nightmares about eating glass my whole life so that scene really fucked me up.

All these horror gifs is getting me excited as hell for the upcoming October challenge. Already seeing some films here to include on my list.

Real talk: The first movie thing that ever scared the shit out of me was the bit of this movie they showed in clip form in the intro of Earnest Scared Stupid.

Some of that was classic Raimi horror gross outs. But the end of the film. Good God that shook me to my core. Quick search didn't turn up a result so take this instead.

Surprised no one mentioned this scene from The Conjuring. This legit shook me in theaters, they way they built it up was amazing and I want to go back to when I first saw the scene

Also this scene as well

If I pulled that off, would you die?

Yeah this one got me good.

I aged 10 years in that camera zoom.

Lotsa rippers in here, literally in some cases.

How about

I was 4 years old when Ghostbusters came out, and this scared the shit out of me.

I still find the opening before the title card to be incredibly tense for me, like PTSD or something.

Surprised no one posted the Simpsons claymation "You're Next" unofficial couch gag. It's legitimately one of the most disturbing things I've seen, and hell if I can even understand why, being that it's just claymation.

Can't find gifs but here are some non-spoiler images:

It's amazing. I later watched You're Next, and was super disappointed because I was expecting something as intense as this!

not really into scary movies but this movie (
sinister
) had several really fucking scary parts

PX-j77.gif

Only scary parts Sinister had were everything in those film reels. Everything not in those reels, including those dumbass ghost children and Bagul were stupid as fuck.

That's why I consider Sinister a GREAT example of a movie that managed to include GREAT jumpscares and bottom-of-the-barrel, SHITTY jumpscares.

Kudos to all of you giving visibility to Lake Mungo.

It’s a great film and easily the most authentic-feeling of the “found footage” subgenre. Very understated and nuanced.

Ya, i love that movie. So rewatchable.

The clapping game scene in The Conjuring always spooked me. Seeing the hands pop out really caught me off guard.

Ya, i found this much scarier than the actual demon. i am one who wishes they had never shown it's full form. It was scarier as just hands that pop out of the darkness.

Man, I looked up that Inland Empire scene out of curiosity and immediately wished I hadn't. Even knowing it was coming and the rest of the scenes being more weird than scary, that was a pretty effective jump cut. It was on screen long enough to register "something is horribly wrong" in the hind brain, but it's over before you can realize "that's kind of goofy looking."
