Fine, I'll change my av.

It'll still be lewd, but contextually so. Give me a second to crop it.

Shiiiiet. Might have to do that myself.

Yea, Gamesplanet has earned my approval for sure with how quick they were. Just be ready for that 55.0 GB preload.

Casuals would relate better to a review of a fighter by someone who has similar skills to them. It's weird but if you think about it, it makes perfect sense.

oh for sure. Let me rephrase.

Its weird that folk here would care about fighting game reviews, hows that? :p

also theres Gaf casual, and actual casual before you say "theres casuals here too!"

I dont mind it, but you can dress it however you want, thats a hot manga chick holding a dick with her feet, so if you want to risk the ban, like I said, you do you :p

im going to make a bold prediction (because its hard to predict game scores lol) and say it will get 7s

Can someone who got the PS4 version early check out how agressive the chromatic aberration is and let us know?

Preferably someone who hates it as much as me :p

8s and 7s probably.

And someone will complain about story or arcade mode being massively difficult even if ends up not being any sort of difficult.

Would not be surprised if this reviews poorly or even mediocre. Lots of easy nitpicking, missed opportunities and presentation issues.

Not saying it should but wouldn't surprise me in the least

This will 100% review better than SFV.

It will review better but I suspect some reviewers will dock it points for not offering a good, lengthy story mode and for having slim pickings in terms of modes. NRS is definitely the standard; IJ2's gear system and Multiverse provide way more gameplay content.

Hawkeye sucks in this game.

Pure keep away characters really suck in this game. Chris is bad, Arthur is probably not too hot, Hawkeye looks bad too.

Ghost Rider is the only one who is good but like most of the time he's going to be harassing you with chains and then get a full combo.

This is definitely a game made by Combofiend.

They didn't learn from Marvel 3 on what constitutes making a good keep away character. Most of these characters weren't too hot in that game either. I would even go as far as to say that Chris and Hawkeye are worse than their Marvel 3 counter parts.

Best thing going for Hawkeye is Freeze and Taser arrow but his basic tool kit (movement, jump arc, escapes, normals) is severely lacking. Gimlet may have a wall bounce but its projectile travel speed is not instant anymore.

I am still concerned about the big bodies too. If they are also not too good then that means that the game is going to be dominated by a select few archetypes which is going to create homogeneity in playstyles and strategies. I hope I am wrong on this

Then they gave Dormammu every buff you could think of.

Yeah but Dormammu isn't going to be that great of a keepaway character rather than a character who zones and converts zoning into real damage or set up shop for his tag partner This type of character is still going to be good in this game mostly because Dorm has a lot of tools to do other stuff than just keep away. Similar to what Dante is in this game, no one is going to be keeping away with Dante using multilocks, Air Play and gun shots/shotgun shots.

Like if your character's only real game plan and toolkit is keep away then you are screwed in this game. If you can do some keep away, some zoning and some pressure/rushdown or support tools then you will be fine. Hawkeye might be fine as a support but there are going to be so many good supports in this game that Hawkeye won't cut it and probably neither will Chris.

pre-release hype played a big part in SFV getting good reviews imo. I expect that the poor post-release impression of that game will probably make reviewers take a more tempered attitude towards MVCI.

Oh I know. I was contrasting how Dormammu got so much while Chris and Hawkeye got close to nothing.

It's funny that the most amazing keep away shit I've seen so far is Dorm's projectiles and Zero's green beam shit, where he literally locks down the opponent while HE'S IN THE CUBE

THE FUCK

As someone who plays lame, I'm looking to play X, Zero, Dorm, and Dante quite a bit. They all have decent to great (lol Dorm's ridiculous) rush down tools in addition to being able to play lame when needed.

It's a shame since I'd love to rock X/Hawkeye.

Iron Man looks like he could be good too with his new zoning tools...not sure.

I am not saying keepaway/zoning is inherently non-existent in this game.. there will still be that.

I am just saying that characters who can ONLY KEEP AWAY as their main playstyle are going to struggle. Iron Man is not a keep away character even though he can zone/keep away if need be because he has enough mobility to easily rushdown. In fact Iron Man is the type of character that will be naturally good in this game. Same for MMX, Zero, Dorm, Dante etc.

Worst reviewed major fighting game of the generation incoming?

Uh...why? Has story mode, tutorials, arcade mode, missions, unlockables, promising netcode (so far)...and, oh yeah, it's really fun according to pretty much everyone who's been playing it.

Only major downsides on the casual level is unimpressive graphics. And maybe roster, but on a super casual level the roster is no where near as bad as people in the hardcore circle would think. A lot of big name fan faves are in the game, even if the X-men aren't.

I know, which is why I said I'm not likely to play Hawkeye. I don't think he'll be able to keep up since he's not flexible enough to switch playstyles when needed in this type of game. I really don't like that they nerfed chip damage so much.

This... is what is concerning me. How do they give him a shit ton of new stuff
They gave him flight cancels on specials lols
and Chris just gets a shoulder move, magnum now has a limit/reloading and some new normals... nothing to help him with tri-dashers.

???

any more Rocket stuff out there? the few I've seen people never use the new Groot moves.

I actually think the roster is a bigger problem for reviews that the graphics. The game looks... fine. Not amazing by any means, but it certainly doesnt look GARBAGE like some folk on the internet keep spouting.

Well, except that training stage :3

Such as Firebrand.

I think the roster is fine for the most casual of audiences. Like if you watch that Easy Allies stream they were having a good time. Nobody even mentioned the lack of women, x men, etc.

But it doesn't have Injustice 2s epic mobile phone game loot system. I've got like five days played on Injustice 2 and one of the reasons I quit that game was the stupid ass loot system.

its just small compared to the last one is all

Such as Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, Hulk, Spiderman, Dr. Strange, Hawkeye, Rocket Raccoon with Groot, Ryu, Chun Li, Mega Man X, Zero, Chris Redfield, Dante...

Captain Marvel, Gamora, Ultron, and Thanos are now relevant because of recent/upcoming movies.

The game is not lacking well known, popular characters.

The lack of fan favorites will hurt the game critically and commercially. Marvel knows that and doesn't care.

Funny you mention the worst things bout IJ2- gear and multiverse. I definitely don't want to see loot boxes become the gold standard for fighting games.

And marvel 3 launch was small compared to Marvel 2 :p The memes are what will end up being the biggest barrier to get casual players though.

chip reduction and bouncing back projectiles with advance guard is gonna screw over characters like hawkeye big time. if hawkeye has to rush characters down now then whats the point of him.

The roster is uninspired. That's not really debatable.

Anyway, why does Mike Z always seem so angry? I just always get the impression that he hates anything new.

Most fighting game reviews are bad (imo) as they are mostly reviewed by people who don't play fighters and simply base it on what the casual audience thinks. It's difficult for them to go deeper as they don't have much experience or knowledge of the genre. I think it will definitely review better than SFV (which has 77/Green on metacrtic i.e. "Generally Favorable Reviews") as it has far more casual content at launch.

Most people will say "bitter old man who's angry Skullgirls didn't take off". That might not be too far from the truth, but he's just a fighting game snob.

I wonder if he's bitter because Capcom Chose to not sign a license with them for legacy stick program, like they did with SFV.

Skullgirls has done fine over time. That's because of the numerous balance changes that had to go into the game to fix it because it was a bad game off the bat.

It was a bad game because MikeZ wanted specific stuff from the older games that is no longer good to have in modern games. It wasn't until the community started making him fix things and he realized that the game isn't just something for himself but for everyone else too. And thus he had to keep changing Skullgirls to make it better or it would've been gone to the wayside even by the hardcores.

This is what Skullgirls looked like at the start:

Along with busted assists as well.

So criticizing another game at day 1 for maybe having some busted stuff (that is most likely going to get patched out anyway) just makes you look hypocritical rather than being critical.
