Don't forget Sunrise. It seems a lot of studios are making recap/edited movies and remakes/retellings of older properties in order to promote new material under the same banner.

What doesn't make sense to me is that... well, it's Gonzo's Full Metal Panic. It wasn't exactly a looker when it aired
never mind the fact that I'm really not a fan of FMP, Jarmel's continued love of the franchise baffles me, and the Gonzo incarnation is surely the nadir of the whole experience
and I can't see it looking particularly sumptuous once it makes it to the big screen.

Eureka 7 was a particularly good looking TV show, and most of the Sunrise properties that get movie edits were at least decent at the time. FMP? Not so much.

So they announced some more details of the FMP recap. Chigara is overseeing the entire project on every level. New animation is being added to each movie. Old footage is being upscaled using FORS (I've never heard of this, I know of Q-TEC). New theme songs as well. Changing the audio so it's now 5.1.

They mentioned shifting the aspect ratio but I wonder if it's a simple cutjob or if they'll modify the background art so it's 16:9.

I don't know who is animating the new cuts (Gonzo?) as Xebec should be dead busy right now. Horiguchi is probably putting a noose around his neck right now.

It's a hackjob. :(

Lmao!

FORS is Q-Tec btw.

LOL!!

Also, the audio isn't being remastered in 5.1 using individual elements or rerecorded stuff, it uses the original sound data, and they're doing simulated 5.1 with it.

ROFLMAO!!!

Well yea they would have to trim the top but they could still redo some of the background art. It'll probably be like Pocketful of Rainbows though in how it's handled, just me being wishful.

Ugh, Q-Tec can be really shitty if not handled properly.

Not surprised by the audio considering Tomokazu didn't even know about the project till today. If Shirobako taught me anything, it's that VA work is expensive! BTW duckroll, does the blurb mention new cuts for every movie or just new cuts are being added to the trilogy? The Google translation has a weird reading of the line.

It very specifically says they are cutting portions of the top and bottom to fit the aspect into 16:9 for theatrical presentation. It doesn't remotely suggest they are compositing anything at all, which is what they would have to do for new backgrounds.

The blurb just says they intend to have new cuts for this project, nothing specific about which movies, how much, or anything.

Couple of things, the first season only adapted the first three novels so they'll probably cut out a lot of filler stuff and just have each movie using the corresponding novel material. Gatoh didn't have a lot of input in the original series so this allows him to kind of craft his version. It's also important because some really minor characters come back and have important roles in IV so they sorta had to do something like this.

The other thing is that when they delayed IV they mentioned they were working with some of the original staff and having issues with the older staff keeping up, so I wonder if this is what they were talking about. Pure conjecture on my part but I'm curious if Gonzo (I assume Gonzo is doing the new footage) was fucking up on their end which ended up delaying the entire project.

Alright. Same thing for the theme songs presumably? Although if they say songs then I guess each one is getting a new theme.

Edit: Oh man, I think they might get Mikuni Shimokawa back (probably only for this). Please god.

For the theme songs they do say they are doing a new one for each entry in the trilogy. Gotta milk those CD sales!

I will buy multiple copies if it's Shimokawa. Blurb seems to put emphasis on only for this project which makes me think Shimokawa isn't doing the OP for FMP IV, since music is under Lantis, but CAN do new songs for the trilogy since that might be under Pony Canyon.

Why wouldn't it be Gonzo? Chigara is still associated with the studio; he just handled an episode of 18if.

Maturity, bitches.
Ew... If something wasn't designed for 16:9, don't ruin it by cutting it apart.

If people are so anti black borders, draw some nice border art to fill the space.

Last minute staff guess for LotGH reboot:

Monitor design will be Aoki. Toshimasa Suzuki is assistant director. No clue who is main director, Izubuchi (although he might be helping on Patlabor) ?

I don't know how big Gonzo is nowadays and they do have a number of upcoming projects. However this probably isn't that taxing.

The problem is they are screening this in cinemas. With new footage that is re-animated in cinematic composition.

Mmh, what is the quality of the Fate series ? I mean I plan on reading the VN one day, but let's be real about the probability of me doing so...

The general response you're going to get from this thread will probably be along the lines of: "Its all shit except Fate/Zero."

I'm a way too deep fan who has touched practically everything Fate related from anime, VNs and games so my opinion is extremely biased towards most of it being good except for the DEEN produced anime series.

Fate/Zero is excellent.
Unlimited Blade Works looks really good and has decent action, but it's a bit questionable.
Fate/Apocrypha is below average so far, though it's still airing.
The DEEN stuff isn't worth it at all.
Carnival Phantasm is funny if you manage to get into the series.

In Another World With My Smartphone episode 11

Well that escalated quickly. I imagine the girls will take turns
banging
Touya next episode.

LoGH remake to be 110 episodes of Golden Wings. For some reason, Frederica Greenhill and Fraulein Mariendorf are gone.

On the flipside, Reinhard and Kircheis kinda look their age. Yang though...
