Destiny 2 |OT2| Leviathan Wakes (Spoiler Tag ALL Raid Discussion)

Still working on it, but all that will be covered.

Your checkpoints do reset at the weekly reset if that's what you meant. The checkpoint of the encounter you're on unlocks all entrances to that encounter. You can grab checkpoints from other players a la D1 loading into their instance and wiping once.

Gotcha.... thanks!

There really needs to be more space for everything. the amount of time wasted going back and forth between vault and mailbox is ridiculous. At least make the vault and mailbox the same interface. Jesus.

This is one thing i was SURE would be in D2. Like it seemed so blatantly simple and apparent... the next most basic change required right after skipping going to orbit for everything.

Damn there's like nothing to do in this game lol, I got most of the efficient weapons for PvE, exotics aren't worth it cause over 80% of the time I get dupes. PvP is boring so I don't care to search for PvP weapons. I like the optimacy gear from Evris but the gear drop rate isn't high enough to warrent buying silver for them. Did they fix the raid bug for the exotic Cabal weapon? I guess I could do that.

Blows my mind how anyone can still be playing Destiny and not use this.

We've legitimately been playing different games for the past 3 years.

I use it as well but it really should be built into the game by now. We should ALWAYS have access to our vault via our UI menu. Bungie sees just how many people use the IM apps. We've solved a bunch of their "issues" for them over the years and they're only now, slowly starting to adopt some of them. I'm still holding out hope that they'll integrate vault access into the UI (with the ability to directly shard - fingers fucking crossed lol).

What in the hell is this thing? Does bungie own it? Will I have my info stolen? How can a third party have access to everything??
You are not giving your info to this app/its owner but rather authorizing your account through the SSO of your platform (i.e. Xbox Live or PSN). Bungie does not own it, but it uses the official API to do the magic.

It is an utterly game-changing tool to play this game with multiple characters. It has been eons since I'd even thought about recommending it to anyone but yeah, get on this ASAP. :)

LOL, just uses their API. It's not gonna steal your stuff.

Ok I'm gonna trust you guys because it looks down right perfect. It's what destiny has needed for way too damn long!

I don't know if there was something that changed last update, but I've been getting a couple crashes every session going to the tower. It used to happen occasionally, but it was rare.

It helps to not open the menu, but yeah they still happen more often.

I’ve never had a single crash (4K), has the other thread figured anything out with this? Is it just some run hotter than others?

The discrepancies are what makes it very confusing.

Did you do the uninstall and redownload overnight like I asked you to do? Supposedly this fixes many of those

Yes, installed fresh overnight. The latest updated increased in the frequency.

I've been using apps like DIM since year 1... 👀

Destiny does need it built it. For sure. 100%. I feel bad that you're just now finding this esp. if you played D1. Item managers (a few diff ones) have been around since pretty early D1.

It is "built in" to the companion app now, it's just clunkier than DIM.

To be honest it's far faster to use a phone/tablet/laptop for item management than it would be with a controller. In this specific instance I think Bungo is doing you a favor by forcing you to do it out of game. lol

So I have pledged to different factions with two different characters. New Monarchy and Dead Orbit

All I get is shotguns! Every level up is a damn shotgun

I've only got one character ready for factions, but I've got the same problem. I never touch shotguns but I've got 4 through NM already.

True. I use DIM on a laptop next to my monitor or my phone/tablet... and yeah, funny enough but DIM is much better than Bungies own companion app lol.

I personally dont think using their mouse interface would be bad at all with a built in inventory manager. It could operate just like DIM does on mobile where selecting the item brings up a sub menu of where to send the item, shard it etc. Id use the shit out of it instead of one of my other devices. But thats just me.

I haven't even done much Faction rally stuff yet, but since launch the game just insists on giving me sniper rifles. I think I have every one in the game except the raid one, and most at least 3 times. I'm dying to try out the SMGs I haven't seen yet, I barely get any (finally got a Red Mamba yesterday and thumbs way up btw, dat reload). Snipers rain from the sky though. I hate sniping!

Borealis excepted, super cool weapon

I'm a big fan of Death Adder (another Veist SMG), it's extra hip fire accuracy is lovely in a pinch

DIM should be thrown in the OP if it hasn't already been. It was so helpful in D1 especially with its ability to calculate specific Int/Disc/Str builds (i.e. 5/5/2, 4/4/4, etc)

Seems like a band-aid fix for something that should have been addressed. I am really surprised they came out with a sequel to Destiny and DIM still has uses that Bungie didn't implement into the game themselves.

Bethesda approach.

Why to fix it yourself when you can just drop API out and community creates solutions?

Pretty sure Bungie.net had that inventory feature last gen. I remember logging into the website at work to move my stuff around.

they removed that with Destiny 2 for some reason

It was build into Profile in Bungie.net if I remember right.

It was very slow and clunky to use, largely thanks to awful UI and website never been smoothest in general. Solutions like DIM have always been efficiently tooled just for that purpose, inventory management, while running well on any HW.

Nothing like needing to have pc/tablet nearby to play a console game.

You don't. DIM and item managers are clearly power-user tools. It's amazing to have this support. Are there any other loot games that have this level of management outside of the game? None that I think of.

Bungie made several improvements to inventory and item management with D2, such as inventory being shared across characters. So it's not like they slacked off.

Seeing Bungie criticized for their outstanding API work is absurd.

Yeah, I dunno... I think there might be more UI/framework investment involved in incorporating the full functionality of the Gear Manager/DIM into the game than it seems. For starters, it isn't just the ability to view the vault and send to the vault or other characters from anywhere, but also view the full inventories of those other characters you are not logged in on and pull from them.

I had also always assumed that the Postmaster and Vault were not merged because the Postmaster is per character and the Vault is shared. They could at least be different tabs at the same kiosk, though.

I'm sure they exist and someone will namedrop one shortly after this, but I'm not sure I know of any RPG that enables you to, while logged in on one character, access the full inventory of your others and move items directly without using some kind of a vault interface. In most cases using the vault still requires you to log in on the other character for at least some of the process. Even Guild Wars 2, a game with an enormous amount of convenience features including the ability to deposit materials to the vault from anywhere, items that allow you to access the vault from anywhere, and premium inventory slots shared between characters... still does not allow you to access and pull from the inventories of your other characters other than just logging onto those characters and using the vault. And this is a PC game where the UI/UX constraints of console are no limiting factor.

Essentially most games with gear you can move between characters have more or less the Destiny vault system without companion apps to access everything outside the game.

Bungie is probably content with the work they put into making the API provide this (pretty much seamless) functionality through apps which enable developers to even expand on the functionality, like the whole loadouts thing, and not likely to prioritize incorporating it into the game client.

What I would request as a relatively easy QoL addition in comparison is just the ability to send any item to the vault from anywhere using the in-game interface. Like hold triangle to send to vault. No Man's Sky actually does almost exactly this (though with a physical distance constraint for gameplay reasons) and it's pretty great.

Did someone save the list of great legendary weapons recommended by Hawk? I had a look in the OT but couldn't find it at first glance.

This is the same API that the game clients themselves use to move inventory around. It's not a band-aid fix, and in fact I wish every online game provided tools this powerful.
