Red Dead Redemption II Trailer #2 released!

Protagonists don't have to be likeable or good to be compelling or interesting. Have an unlikeable outlaw as a protagonist would be a welcome change
I agree with that, I just don't find him particularly interesting based on what's presented in this trailer. Dutch is the only other person he's not being "GRR RAWR" at. Gives me the impression of a stereotypical sneering bad guy.

So is RDR2's development being spearheaded by Rockstar San Diego? Or is Rockstar just going to market this as a "Rockstar Studios" production? Not that I have a problem with it, just curious.

Trailer was nice visually though. It didn't really up the hype I already had for it though.

Day 1. :)

They reuploaded the trailer with a PS4 bit at the end.

If Red Dead Online takes off like GTA Online, Sony will be the happiest they've ever been lol.

If I ever post something in Japanese which I don't understand, please BAN me.
Will we get some fun time with the ladies this time?

The reason it wasn't in RDR was because John was a married man.

But what about Morgan?

I’ve been too busy at work to have even taken the temperature of the room on this one but I just watched and I’ve gotta day... not thrilled. Dampened my hype for RDR pretty much immediately.

Looks great, i was expecting a bit more out of the animations, but not a big deal. The main character seems off just a bit, kind of like his voice doesn't go with his look or something, like he needs more of a scruffy look, dirty him up a bit, make him look like he's on the run robbing banks ect, but thats just me nit picking.

I think the main thing im underwhelmed about is not playing as a young Marston, but maybe we will.

There is hope as the main character is in the the Dutch gang, im interested to see where they are going with this new character, and why he was never mentioned in the first game? RockStar threw a curve ball at us, def some twist in here. Would be cool if this character is the one who recruits Marston in the gang (my guess is this guy is Marston Uncle, 30-34sec he is talking to young Marston), then the 2nd half you play as Marston. Trailer leaves more questions then it answers. Still, very excited, there are just so many question marks spinning around my head after watching this.
because the twist will be marston killing him in the end duh

I just wonder how much Sony paid them to keep this one off PC...
lmao rockstar made a billion and change before GTA 5 even touched pc

they already know your going to double even triple dip sony doesn't have to do shit

Wait, people are unimpressed by this? I thought it looked stunning, damn.

I think people are unimpressed because in typical rockstar fashion, nothing stands out graphically but everything blends together seamlessly : models are great but not the best, lightning is solid but not mindblowing, LOD is impressive but on par with other titles etc etc. every rockstar title follows this rule, under a magnifying glass they look just ok(cue all the comments about low res textures and the soft look) but if you look at everything at once for long gaming sessions, the amazing atmosphere of the games created by all these elements working together comes through beautifully and you remember the games looking incredible, even better that they actually are, years after you stopped playing(cue all the comments about this game looking like the first RDR)

Not to politicize the thread, but I genuinely hope Rockstar is able to move in the opposite direction from this, and can develop female characters that are more than objects or sources of female hysteria. Bonnie McFarlane was a great start but they really slid backwards in GTAV - there was basically no reasonable female character in that game. I think the Housers need outside help.

Eh. Everything you've said applies to GTA V as well, and that game's trailers were amazing.

This was just not a very good or enticing trailer.

Absolutely.

I just hope it plays like RDR1 and not GTAV, and that they also have the euphoria physics from MP3/RDR1.

Without that the game will be nowhere near as immersive, the simulation they did for RDR1 was insane. The fidelity of the visuals and the world was mindblowing to me and it still is.

That said I saw a lot of little details that just wouldn't be there if this was a GTA game or even GTAV, so my hope is there at least.

I honestly don't understand people, this game looks like a generation ahead of the Remastered version of GTAV. I was blown away by the visuals in this, along with the return of that fantastic music.

This trailer gives me a lot of hope.

Agreed to the fullest here. Euphoria was severely worse in V compared to IV and RDR. Euphoria was fantastic in RDR, it indeed still does.

But in case of RDR2 they don't blend together seamlessly and game clearly has very uneven graphical presentation. Blurred mess of low quality textures and questionable model work in one scene and actually quite nice looking character model with nice lightning in another. Some effects, especially rain, popping against soft / blurry overall picture as sharp lines.

And so on.

It isn't consistent in its representation and all that blurriness, I imagine, is big factor in why some find game looking dated.

Nah, I think people were blown away by RDR when it came out. This one just doesn't wow me technically or artistically, from what I've seen so far.

Which would be fine, but I'm not down for playing a scumbag. Didn't know that was the direction they were going with RDR2, but we have enough real scumbags to deal with on the daily. They don't need to be celebrated.

This trailer gives me a lot of hope.

Euphoria is very CPU heavy. I think they had to dial it back to make the game run on PS3/360. I hope RDR2 takes full advantage of that physics engine.

I hope it’s on par or better than MP3. Euphoria is amazing.

We need those shooting mechanics from MP3 in this open world. It would be the best of all worlds. The precision, the impact - I hope they adopt it here. The meaty, satisfying combat of Mafia III has my expectations very high!

Haven't played Horizon or any of the first party games, only GTA V on PS4 and that one looks more stunning than this trailer. The first trailer looked very impressive, now that was next gen graphics, holy shit.

I don't know what it is with the graphics engine this time (is it an upgraded engine from GTA V?), but the trailer made the graphics look murky, not that sharp, like someone smeared vaseline over the game and characters. Also WTF is up with the horse's face when you see it getting the lasso around its neck? Look at the gif posted a couple pages back. The eyes looks like its popped out of the skull and the face does not look like a horse face. Even the horses in Red Dead Redemption looks better and more realistic than here. I am sorry but 8 years in between and you except the game to look BETTER than the previous game, especially since this is Rockstar. Just look at the jump from GTA IV to GTA V, holy jesus, and that was only 6 years apart.

I also would loved this game taking place maybe 1-2 year after the first one. When industrial meets western and the clashes in-between. Hopefully we can play as a woman this time. Come on Rockstar, don't bullshit this time, you can make a woman playable, you don't need the "right" story to do that.

People are friggin blind, this looks amazing in every way.

No, people are not blind, some are just not impressed with what they are seeing, me included. Does not mean we are blind wtf is wrong with you. Sure I mean comparing the second game to this third game, it is quite a jump, but not quite a jump like for GTA IV to GTA V, and that was on the old consoles.

At work but showing everyone the trailer. lol

Still think there's multiple playable characters but Arthur Morgan is the main. Like, you're locked as him while free roaming, doing bounties, side missions etc but main story missions involving the gang will let you pick 2 out of the 6 in the gang to partner up with Arthur so you can switch between the three.

If this game doesn't get advantage of the newer consoles to the maximum, then nothing will.

Is therre any chance first Red Dead Redemption gets a current gen console remaster? I mean L.A. Noire gets re-released but not the first RDR?

Also how the series could have been if it stayed a property of Capcom? Would it have been worse, same or better?

Looks awesome, now if only they would remaster the first game.

Apparently RDR's code is held together by duct tape and prayers. It wasn't annotated either supposedly.

I was watching Unforgiven yesterday and it seems that stuff was a pretty big part in the wild west.

We can still have fantastic female characters like the one shown in this trailer.

You would almost start to think they don't have the same budget they got for GTA V but that seems incredibly doubtful after the insane profit of GTAO. But yeah, with a Rockstar trailer you automatically assume it will be something very special and while this is far from bad or anything it really didn't manage to wow me that much.

At the end of the day it's still Rockstar we're talking about they have yet to truly let me down with their final product. But I can't deny that I expected more.

Then just bump up the resolution to 1080p and port it over. Why would they have to mess with the code? I thought the PS4 had PC like architecture? Which I thought the 360 was to begin with.

So...will he become likeable or is it not his story of redemption?

And 4K for the newer consoles like in L.A. Noire Remastered (which offers even some enhanced features).
I would really expect them to even improve the graphics like with GTA5 when ported to current gen consoles and PC.
Some Rockstar games get greasy treatments but not this one? Very weird.

You know there were many brothels back in the late 1800's, prostitution was very much big business and a reality in the old west. My issue would be if RockStar just made up stuff about women that never happened to make them look like objects, but the fact is them were different times, prostitution was legal in many many towns, and it was a way of life, much more so and accepted then it is now. So, as long as the game follows the times and is true to the Historical accuracy of them times, i have no problem with that in the game. The more accurate to the times the better, makes me feel as if im living in them times the more accurate they portray the reality of them times.

Me too, wtf.

Some parts looking really damn good like the beginning and the mountains in the distance and clouds and everything but strangely enough other parts looking not nearly as good and rather unfinished. Which it is of course, game is far from finished but we're not used to seeing that in their trailers.

The part with the low res ground early in the trailer is just something you wouldn't expect from a Rockstar trailer. Also people don't like the parts that looked soft, blurry. One part where Arthur on horseback walks at the camera and you can barely really see his face, it's blurry.

Don't want go start any weird theories but from their A team I expect more. Keep in mind that everything I said is solely based on this trailer alone. But as I said before, this trailer is making me think more and more that it won't be releasing spring next year.
