A day later... Not sure if I should keep the Pixel 2 xl order.

Just so many trade offs. I could use that grand for something else lol.

Same with getting a iPhone x. Maybe to resale? I just don't really wanna go back to ios lol

Damn it, why couldn't the v30 just be the pixel XL 2. It basically does everything you'd want besides stereo speakers... Which I can live without.

Yeah...I cancelled my order after some deliberation. A Pixel V30 would've been an instabuy.

The price on these Google products still seems super weird to me.

109€ for a comfortable Cardboard VR with a remote
179€ for Bluetooth earphones
799€ for a phone with an HTC midrange reject design
939€ for their flagship phone

Who is this for? When did Google think they could start asking Apple-like prices?

Jeff's had like 10 different phones this year. lol

Let's see... Mate 9. Pixel. S8+. Nexus 6. OP5. Pixel 2 xl preordered.

With the prices of modern flagships... Just a bit harder to impulse buy lol.

Anyways probably just gonna keep the xl2. Seems like stock is gone, gonna expect it gonna have a good resale value until mid next year. Iphone x is too small. I'll wait for the rumored plus one.

I'm curious about mate 10 camera. Could possibly be a Dx0 100+! Rumored hardware is promising at least.

People keep comparing the Pixel 2 XL price to the Note 8 and iPhone 8+/X and glossing over the fact that the 'regular' Pixel 2 has the same camera. Like goddam Apple is selling the iPhone 8+ for $800 and the Pixel 2 has a better screen, better size (imo) and better camera for $650. Huge props to Google

Pixel book. lol. Rumors said Google was adding VM support or some shit but nope. At least put Android Studio on it.

Pixel buds. Interesting language translation. Wish they demoed with a watch not phone. Speaking of...

Android wear. *sigh* cmon Google make your pixel watch

Does anyone have suggestions for bt earbuds or headphones that are on the cheap side?

Currently I use some $15 earbuds so that's the quality I'm used to.

I probably won't end up getting the Pixel 2 because of similar concerns of everyone else. So which one will it be: Galaxy S8+ or V30? I'm worried of the V30 motherboard crapping out like other LG devices and S8+ at this point would make more sense waiting for the S9?

What do you think?

EDIT - Also, what's LG's track record on updates? Samsung seems decent enough so far

Ended up trading my back up old Galaxy S6 with a beaten battery for the Xiaomi A1 (Android One).

Actual phone cost is around $230. With the exchange I paid about $85.

Should I stick with that or go with the Redmi Note 4 or Mi Max 2? This is just a back up phone with few calls a day, barely any texts. I do use some WhatsApp on it. However I do tether quite a bit with the SIM that's going to be used in this phone. What say GAF?

SO the store is letting me exchange my phone since it's a hardware issue but because my little bro lost the earphones i have to chose either a Moto or a Lenovo smartphone so they can put the earphones with my old phone and send it back, and I'm not interested in going back to this company -_-

Since I want to mitigate loss I have to go with either the Moto M or the Lenovo K6. Seems the Moto is better.

If nothing else the Pixel 2's seem like a good value if you directly compare them to the iPhone ignoring other Android devices. In the case of the regular Pixel 2 you save $50 over the price of the iPhone 8 and get a comparable device. In my opinion the screen is nicer on the Pixel 2 and I also think the camera will prove to be better as well. You otherwise trade wireless charging for the stereo speakers and squeezable frame. In the case of the Pixel 2 XL you are basically paying $50 more over the iPhone 8+ for the bezel-less design which is really good compared to the $200 premium it would cost to grab an iPhone X.

Obviously some people will still enjoy the iPhone's more because they love iOS, but I don't think the Pixel 2's are that bad at this point as far as pricing goes.

Not an asshole.
Torn between the V30 / Pixel 2 XL.

Pixel 2XL: smooth as butter OS, updates galore, great camera, front firing speakers, that god-tier Panda design

V30: headphone jack, great screen-to-body ratio, mini SD slot, wide angle lens, some nice video options, $50 cheaper

Both: good screen, good fingerprint reader placement, good rear camera, good battery life

The V30 also has the bonus of being able to walk into a store tomorrow and buy one, versus waiting until November or longer for the Panda XL.

I'm on an S7edge right now and I hate the mono-speaker, I'm always covering it with a finger unintentionally. Also the edge-to-edge display is so irritating. Constantly accidentally pressing the screen, especially accidental fast-forward in YouTube.

Help me, GAF. There is also the S8+ to consider, but I'm not a fan of that fingerprint reader placement, nor the bixby button.

So I just want to be sure, daydream will work with the 2 XL right? All the promo shots on the site just show the regular Pixel.

Also, daydream worth it? Is there enough cool stuff to check out? Is it more of check it out once and never use it again or is there stuff to keep you coming back?

Also the Moment case and lens worth it? I saw MKBHD say good things about it. Anyone here have any experience with that case on another phone?

I'd say wait a little longer for a V30 price drop and go with that one (assuming LG has fixed their issues, I haven't heard of the problems they were having with their old phones in a while).

By waiting you should be able to get it on sale or as a good bundle.

If you can't live without front facing speakers I guess you just have to decide if it's worth the price difference and the missing features of the Pixel 2.

I really need a micro SD Card slot on my android phones, so not having one is a deal breaker for me, no matter how nice the phone is otherwise.

You know. I'm gonna be pretty disappointed in Samsung if they don't remove the headphone jack on the s9 and launch some Bixby wireless headset. Follow the trends!

Also Huawei confirms 4000mah battery on mate 10.

Why is everyone else skimping on battery and headphones Jack's. Truly a shit year for phones imo.

Samsung already launched their wireless headphones. Samsung Gear Icon X, I think.

They're pretty bad if I remember the reviews correctly.

Gotta look outside the mainstream for a good phone this year. I'm seriously thinking about pulling the trigger on the Mi Mix 2 when the global version launches on October 10th.

SD835, 6 GB, 256 GB, no bezel 18:9 screen with DCI-P3 gamut, comes with MIUI but can be unlocked to accept Lineage OS, no headphone jack but comes with the USB-C adapter in the box, 43 global LTE bands including full North American LTE support, 3400 mAh battery.

$660, show me the money

The revised ones are decent.

The original ones got like 1 hour before they died. I don't know what idiot at Samsung thought that was ok. Lol

Yeah, that's been discussed for a while. I'm almost certain they share the same panels

Panel lottery woooo. XDA gonna have to clean their pants

I thought LG made their own OLED panels for phones?

e: Speaking of the squeezing thing. I haven't seen the presentation yet. What does it actually do?

That's the old picture of the V30. It still remains to be seen if the Pixel XL2 has the same quality standards

It's used to launch shit

they were good except the battery life was like under 2 hours .

new revision this year has almost triple that.

Battery life of fewer than 2 hours makes this a pretty bad product, I'd say. But it's good to know that the revision is more capable. The MSRP of 229€ makes it way too expensive, but I'm sure the price will come down in no time once you can actually buy them.

Since google hates scandinavia, unless amazon.de gets the pixel 2 in stock i might just go for the old pixel until next year. Need that camera back

Xda got access to a Emui 6 oreo rom for mate 9. Some new navigation options and you can hide nav buttons like recent galaxy update. Can change system resolution too also like Samsung. Interesting thing is that it supports project treble as well.

Emui is basically TouchWiz without the lag lol. Still aggressive memory though but like with samsung, 6gb of ram helps tremendously.

Meh the photo is taken at an angle. If you look straight you wouldn't see that effect.

The tmobile guy who did the unboxing video tweeted a picture of the screen and it was completely uniform.

I've read hands on of Korean production units and the display are fine too.

Edit: and everytime that subject surfaces it is always that same photo which is shown... Anyways it's out in the US so I guess we'll know for sure very soon with production units.
