Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition: Free update arcade mode & more; $40 game+DLC bundle

Or the #1 complaint about the original release. Casuals just want to play through some fights and see some kind of ending. Story mode is actually overkill I think.

It was certainly more effort that to just include an arcade mode. However they way they have implemented and arcade mode is very good and if more characters are added and they expand the courses it could keep a lot of people happy.

Imagine a full SFIII course with dedicated remake stages and characters.

They put so much in the SP that I'm afraid they won't fix the netcode.

It can be so bad that the audio dies. Oh an other things like opponent skipping around the screen and being 1-2 seconds behind what they are doing.

They should give the Pro the nice motion blur from the PC version at least.

They can do 4k checker boarding but IQ may need to be reduced. The 1060 OC has trouble keeping a lock 60fps on 4k and 80% screen resolution.

I really hope these special costumes aren't hard to get, I hear they're not permanently available? Either way, looking forward to this expansion.

Holy fuck at least inform yourself. FM is the system through which you are able to unlock some stuff like alt. colors, stages and story costumes. If you've been playing every now and then and bought the season passes, or at least one of them, chances are you've amassed enough FM to buy all the stages released so far (excluding the premium CPT ones), also, you're not meant to have every single costume in this game unless you're ready to shell out a couple hundred bucks, some they've been releasing several costumes during SFV's lifespan, so putting all those costumes in the $40 package that is AE is simply not possible unless you want them to release a pricier product. If you are jumping in for the first time then you'll be able to gather quite a lot of FM by playing with all 28 characters, doing their stories, trials, easy and medium survivals (pretty doable even if you can't really play the character), and there's the general story mode (80k FM in total) plus weekly missions and whatever new ways of earning FM that Capcom will be implementing.

FM is useless for premium costumes.

When most other fighters do new editions they include all the content released until then for a cheaper price than buying separately.

Stop defending Capcoms shitness. This should have included all content you can pay real money for.

Lol you are asking for almost 200 dollars of dlc plus base game for 40 bucks, it already comes with all the S1/2 characters that's 60 if bought them up front on release

SFIV series was able to release costume packs for £3.20 each. A bundle of all for £14-18 (raised as more characters added to roster).

One SFV costume costs what a pack did in SFIV.

Let's not kid ourselves about the value of SFV.

What an insane, unreasonable proposition. There's no winning for some people.

Why do you want all the costumes? And what game gives you all the cosmetic stuff for free?

That’s completely unrealistic.

Unrealistic as in other fighters include all content in their re-release?

Because that does actually happen and is very much realistic.

The reason NRS can do Ultimate Editions? They generally don't support the game past two years.

SFV is 20 months old and most of its post release support, including this new Arcade mode, ship with other fighters at launch.

What an insane, unreasonable proposition. There's no winning for some people.

Insane to expect the same from Capcom as we get from other companies? Perhaps.

What DLC stages do you guys think are the best?

I assume that newcomers will want to buy stages and story costumes with FM, unless they plan to use it for Season 3 characters.

So far 10 unique DLC stages have released that can be purchased. That doesn't include the CPT-exclusive Ring of Pride or the day/night stage alternates. Since Air Force Base is included with the S1 pass that means there's 9 unique stages to consider.

I ask for myself, too. I have spent some FM on a couple stages and costumes.

Right now I have 70k in FM. There's no way I will be able to get all the stages for free and getting another 70k is going to take me awhile because I'm a sometimes-player.

These are the stages I'm choosing between:

English Manor
Metro City Bay Area
Temple Hideout
Flamenco Tavern

Maybe Temple of Ascension but it looks really gloomy.

.

Those games which gives you all the cosmetic contents for free in their re-release are basically the games which are in their final form and they won't be supported anymore, but for SFV case the game will be supported till 2020, if they give you all the contents for free now it will be like sending a message to all the players to never buy any costumes, because later they will all be released in the repackaged game for less than 25% of the price. They already gave season 1 and 2 passes contents for the people who will buy the arcade edition.

English manor is the best looking stage in the game.

Could also ask why would anyone buy season pass when they know they can wait for another repackaged game.

Same as costumes, will always be those who want immediately and those who will wait.

This just Capcom keeping in tradition of having shitty business practices with their fighting games.

English Manor and Metro City are my overall favorites from that list but Temple Hideout has some really nice detail and nostalgia.

Best lighting goes to English Manor.

Metro City changes from night to day and I like the neon.

Flamenco Tavern has nice atmosphere and I like the dancers, plus the cage drop is cool.

Each one is really different. :/

If I had to choose one though... Metro City.

Metro City Bay Area is the best imo. The night to day transition really makes it stand out. They're all pretty great though.

You know all games drop in price you're not investing in gold. Also characters are freaking gameplay people will buy them to keep up with the other players not cosmetic additions or fan service which adds nothing to the game and are basically added for extra revenue, plus characters are unlockable for free using FM so i doubt that capcom even consider them as a revenue source. I know I'm barking at the wrong tree here so whatever.

What’s the point of the Arcade Edition, I don’t get it? Can’t I just go buy the original for like $10 and get the stuff for free?

Still don’t get it, am I paying for stuff or not as Capcom states all features are free?

What don’t you get? If you buy the game and get the season passes now you’ll get the same thing in January as somebody who pays for the AE disc.

Lameness of not making the S1/2 characters available on disc aside, whats the odds of a Day 1 patch for the AE version? None I hope? I've been told on here that SFV's patching system is horribly bad. If I get home with the game and am told I need to download the entire game I'm pulling the ethernet cable right outta my PS4. btw I saw the story mode is a dlc on PSN? Please tell me thats on the disc from the getgo? Like please... just make the disc a fully up to date version of the game, no patches needed until additional new stuff happens.

Oh you sweet summer child.

Expect to download everything separately. The Story Mode is also a separate download.

It's less that it's bad and more that maintenance always ends at like 8pmest, worst time for people to download.

Arcade disc comes with all current dlc characters (12). Buying vanilla SFV and getting free upgrade does not come with dlc characters.
Huh? Had no idea you had to pay for any character...wtf!!!!! I’m so confused on Capcon’s statements now...

Sure, if that's what you want to do. But I think the point of AE is to relaunch the product and win back people who were put off by the product that was released a year and a half ago. With enough content it should be well received by game reviewers and fare much better than it did with casual fans than it did before even though I'm sure plenty will still hate on it regardless

I think a decent amount of people will give it a 2nd chance and make it a successful relaunch. I don't think it's going to sell tons, but 500k(give or take) worldwide is probably what Capcom is aiming for.

EDIT: Oh wait, you think all the DLC characters come with the base game? I thought you meant that you could buy the base game and grind out enough FM to buy them all without using real money.

Arcade Edition is a free system update that includes new modes, V-Triggers for every character and balance changes. The retail re-release will be bundled with codes for Season 1 and 2 characters for $40. The characters are not included in vanilla SFV; if you buy that version you'll have to unlock them with FM or pay for them separately.

Arcade Edition is basically a compilation of all the stuff released thus far. You get the base game + the season 1 characters + the season 2 characters.

If you buy the base game, you only get the initial 16 characters. But you can purchase the S1 and S2 characters by buying their season pass (which will definitely have a price drop once the AE releases) or by unlocking them through Fight Money, the in-game currency.

That's literally the only difference. All modes and additional content is available for owners of both.

You can earn characters and stages for free with Fight Money. They won't be handing them out for free with the Arcade Edition update for owners of the vanilla/base version.

Do you own the base game?

Then just buy the season passes. Simple. You are now equal in standing to Arcade edition purchasers.
I think people are not realizing they are saying two different things here.

If I buy the game for $10, do I have access to ALL features, besides stupid cosmetics?

Features and DLC are different.

Features = story mode, arcade mode and game updates(extra v triggers in this case)

DLC = characters, costumes.

You will always have to pay for DLC(either real money or fight money). This new disc re-release is basically a GOTY edition that includes the season 1&2 DLC which amounts to 12 extra characters or whatever.

The features are free to everyone. So if you buy the game now you'll get the features when they release free but you'll miss out on the extra characters. 'Arcade edition' is essentially a GOTY edition that gives you the season 1&2 DLC characters with about a $10 discount.

The DLC characters can be unlocked either by purchasing them (Season pass) or by unlocking them through in-game FM.

That's IT. LITERALLY EVERYTHING ELSE, you have access to (except stupid cosmetics).

Features, yes, characters, no. If you buy the current base game for $10, you will get the Arcade update (all the content) for free but not the characters. Only the Arcade EDITION coming January 16 will include all the characters.
