Could anyone confirm that the ARMA 2 expansion's multiplayer is populated? More than the original at least

I love the first for $10, and $16 for the expansion sounds great.

Son of a...hmmmmm. Digital download, so I don't have to pay Amazon shipping. How does that download system work? Is there any DRM involved with running the game, install limits, being online, etc.?
Amazon Digital Download FAQ

Fairly reasonable terms. If you get lucky you can buy a game that activates on Steam, and just plug the key in and download via Steam. I did that with Mafia II (hat tip to Javaman for the heads up). :D

Edit: Just checked, and Mafia II is still $12.50 for DD. The key will activate on Steam.

Anymore reviews for King's Bounty? Brigandine/FFT are my all time favorite games... does the game stay fresh and fun being able to recruit a bunch of different monsters in your party or does it get reptitive?

In case you didn't see my review (it was on the end of the last page) I'll give ya the negative opinion. Though be aware that plenty of folks love it.

Games like Fire Emblem and VC are actually pretty different from King's Bounty. Heroes of Might and Magic is the closest comparison, or maybe some thing like Age of Wonders.

Uuuh, thanks! No buy, then.

TheFightingIrish explained it pretty well.

I also found the combat to be extremely repetitive. There isn't enough variety and you end up fighting the same mobs over and over, pretty much using the same tactics. It really isn't terribly similar to Japanese SRPGs like FFT or Brigandine.

So it looks like they'd come with whatever the retail DRM is. I don't know what DRM Lost Horizon has. Those Amazon prices are quite good for several games, actually. $5 Witcher, $5 Bioshock 2, cheap Mafia II, cheap Civ 4 complete, etc.

STOP THE PRESSES!
As someone pointed out, BOTH ArmA games can be had for $12.50 total on Amazon instead of $20 on Steam for just the sequel. :lol Now I'm tempted!

I guess its just RUSH for me today...but...I already own it on WiiWare...but...Two Tribes are putting out new levels for the PC release (2 a week so far). Guess I'll be double dipping :lol

Can't believe TF2 has yet to make an appearance on the daily deals. Need to get a copy for the girlfriend but don't think she'll play it enough to justify the current price.

Everyone keeps comparing King's Bounty to games that as a former console peon, I have never played. I wish I had a damn clue what makes these games different from stuff like FFT or Fire Emblem.

Just bought crysis for $20 off of steam a couple days ago :/. Knew I should have waited, but I got a new computer and a gift card for Christmas and went crazy.

Hot Pursuit, AssCreed II and SC: Conviction are notably cheaper on Amazon as well.

On the other hand, Civ IV Complete is $6.24 on Steam.

You know, i never buy anything on Steam at regular price, i always buy on sales, always.

Should be a solid rule.

Thinking of buying IL-2 Sturmovik: 1946 but have never played a sim like this before, Is it possible without a stick and for someone ignorant to the genre?

I used to play SC4 on my old machine with a 6800GT and 2gig ram just fine in XP. So unless Win7 drags down performance, it should play smooth.

This formula actually worked much better in Heroes of Might and Magic as in those games you had enemy (or other player) heroes actively running around and fighting the same mobs and looting the same treasures. So in those games you actually had a reason to be both smart and picky about who you fought and when you fought them. But in KB it's just you versus the static world so you have no reason not to just safely grind mobs in the easiest fashion. Especially since tackling tougher enemies will just kill more of your troops (even if you win) and thus requiring you to run back and forth to refill your troops even more often. It really just seems like a grind game to me, charming for sure, but just a grind.

Would say King's Bounty is actually a game about maximizing XP gain without losing a single troop since there is a limited number of mobs to attack and a limited number of troops to refill with. If you are losing troops you are probably in trouble since there is an extremely limited amount of the good ones (though early on you have to expect to lose troops till you get better units). The fighting ends up being the same as HOMM but it gets played very differently due to a difference in what is limited resources.

FFT & Fire Emblem: The battles are pretty much the entire game. Maybe SOME map and story stuff, but 95% of the game is spent in battle or at the planning/customization screen.

King's Bounty & HMM: More of an open-world RPG with quests and exploration, and a world for you to roam around. The battles may be similar to other SRPGs, but there's more going on than just the battles.

I'm thinking of getting global agenda. Didn't look all that hot during release, but there's an article in PC gamer this month claiming that it has been greatly improved since and w/ no subscription fees.

Anyone here currently play it?

Uh .. as someone ignorant of the genre you can enable aids that will turn it into a more arcade flyer, but without a stick its going to suck. Probably still doable, but you should have gotten wings of prey if you wanted to play it like that. edit2: try playing it with a mouse.

If anyone got Mirror's Edge but is afraid of experiencing nausea from playing it, here are a couple tips:

1) When you land and she does a roll, do a somewhat slow blink. Do you keep your eyes open when you roll in real life? Probably not. Nothing is happening in the game at that moment except your rolling. You'll open your eyes to her feet going down as she rises to run again. It's very natural.

2) If you make quick turns, quickly look to the edge of the screen in the direction you are turning for a moment. When you dart your eyes like this, your brain actually puts your vision on pause for a fraction of a second and then resumes when you are locked in. You think you're getting nonstop visual input because your brain is really good at tricking you, but you are effectively blind in this time. Since it's what you do when you quickly change direction in real life, doing it with the game is more natural.

Finally, Warband goes on sale. Now I can actually play instead of trying to do as much in the demo before time expires.

So much fun was had not understanding anything and then being dragged around the map by bandits.

Is it bad when I see the Crysis deal, and wish I didn't already have it (from the last Christmas Sale) because it's such a good deal, and then realize I haven't played more than 30min of Crysis, and I have never installed Warhead. :lol

Gabe, you sly dog you.

That reminds me I still have to replay them on my current system.

5 euros is a real steal for either one, let alone both.

Section 8 at 2 euros is tempting as well. I mean, I buy food that costs more than that. :\

Anyone want to give me opinions on the Might and Magic pack? Its Heroes V and its expansions, and DMoM&M. I'm not going to buy it today, hoping for a daily deal, but is V a good HoMandM? I don't think I've played one since 2 or 3. What about Dark Messiah? I remember it being panned when it came out, was it ever patched or anything?

For that matter, I remember Vampire:TM being panned when it came out, was it misunderstood? or was it patched?

Welp, picked up Crysis pack even though i know my imac can't handle it from the demo. it's pretty much an admission that I'll be making a gaming-only PC next year.

also got simcity 4 since I'm a simcity slut and gotta have all the games (already bough it on disk... but can't find the disk)

I'm going to wait until the end of the sale on the Sherlock Holmes Steam pack, since I suddenly find myself wanting to play adventure games again. Overall, the Sherlock games are at least decent, right?

I'd also wait for the Aura and Aura 2 games (they seem Myst-like and I saw some decent impressions) but it's $2.50 total on Amazon for them, so I'm going ahead and trying them. *edit* $5 for Aura, Aura 2, and Dark Fall: The Journal. :)

The Sherlock games feel a bit lifeless. But I suppose there's only so much you can do with a character like Holmes without going all Guy Ritchie.

Is anyone getting duplicate entries of Civilization IV in the Steam game list? Checked the forums and they mentioned they were looking into it, but that was more than 7 months ago.

Have a question about playing Dragon's Age: Ultimate Editon.

Do I need to create an online EA account to activate the DLC?

On the main options screen it gives me choices to redeem individual DLC codes but I only have the two codes, one for UE and one for UE DLC. When I try to start a new game it says I need to log in with an account that has previously purchased the content, and the content I have now is installed but not authorized yet.

I don't care about an online account with achievements, wallpaper, etc., I just want to play the gameb but would rather not create an online account to do so.

The list shows both PC and Mac versions.

Both King's Bounty: The Legend and King's Bounty: Armored Princess would have a spot in my all-time favorite games list. The amount of stuff you get for $9 if you don't own any of these games is fucking absurd.

oh yeah, I had this as soon as the Mac versions became available. something weird about the way they implemented steam play for both platforms so they show up as doubles.

You need to sign up for an EA account and redeem the codes on Bioware's site to play the DLC.

You should play the new Back to the Future adventure game! That thing looks so sweet.

My fingers are crossed that my generosity durring this sale will pay off and one of my buddies will gift it. If not, that baby is mine after these deals stop clogging my backlog up.

Any chance The Witcher comes back on sale? Regret not snapping it up and I have exactly $5.04 in my account, which would have been enough for me to net it. :lol

Yeah, there were two sets when I said to install the complete pack, I thought it was weird but left them all checked anyway. Maybe they wouldn't appear if you uncheck the ones that don't affect the download size at install. Doesn't bother me because I always have it set to only display installed games and they aren't on that list.
