Android |OT8| ConFuchsia say beta is better

Everything is wrong. The size of the glass, placement of the fingerprint sensor, placement of camera...
I know you shouldn't focus too much on looks, but just moving stuff a few mm would do so much to clean up the design. Especially the sensor so close to the rear glass looks tacked on.

The most stunning thing to me tho is how different the two sizes look. Proportions and placements are all off. It's like they tried to make them identical, but couldn't. Really amateur for a company trying to make premium products.

Didn't realize how different the 2 phones are. Wonder if pixel 3 will be HTC exclusive
This criticism I don't get. They are as different as the iPhone 8 and X are different.

I would certainly hope so since they just bought 2,000 HTC employees. Would be hilarious if they still get LG or some other OEM to make one of the Pixel 3s.

Part of me thinks it's a bad idea to let LG touch anything going forward. The other part of me thinks that they should keep letting LG making the XL sized Pixels because that way I'll be able to get a free warranty replacement of the next Pixel every time the one I have now starts bootlooping. It's like a free Pixel XL upgrade every year!

The problem with this thinking is I'll be super fucked every time it happens because of all my 2FA apps and stuff tied to my phone and trying to get all that stuff removed from accounts can be aggravating. Maybe I should leave all that on my Note 4. LOL

They're not supposed to be so different though. iPhone X is a completely new design.

The rear is supposed to look as different as iPhone 8 and 8 Plus with the same design language (glass window)
It's so painfully obvious they just had to put stuff where it fit instead of actually designing the rear from scratch

So is the Note 8 the Samsung phone that finally gets past their infamous lag and hitching?

I'm almost entirely off their bandwagon after how badly in key situations my S6 edge has let me down both with its battery and embarrassing speed.

The S8 and s8+ already did that. This is the Samsung phone that beats others in YouTube speed tests.
Depends. I wasn't impressed with my at&t s8+. Apps were frequently reloading. Nav buttons had a slight delay before a response. Turning down to 1080p helped but that's a pretty shitty cop out

Mine works fine without having to do 1080p. Maybe it was your unit o.o

Did you use any of those Bixby remappears back then? They made the phone lag.

I've heard the hitches and random lag still exist on those two, while also hearing that the Note 8, through the extra RAM or optimization or more likely a combination of both, is mostly over them. Of course I'll take your word for it (and other answers) as I'm not looking for confirmation bias; it's just I don't want to be as badly burned as I was on a $700 device as I was my S6 edge years later. Fe what I hear about the S8 duo, I don't trust they will age down the line.

Nope. I tried package disabler but that made the phone crashy.

What are the chances we can get 6GB of ram on the S9? All I'm asking for here is that, dual cameras, and improved fingerprint scanner.

Seems likely. The question is if it will cost extra for the trim?

S8 6gb was some premium tier in Asia.

What are you using? 4200 RPM hard drives with 2 GB of RAM?

Is 2017 and SSD's have been a thing for a decade now. Maybe instead of complaining about Windows you should upgrade that Core 2 Duo.

well mine boots faster than my phone. not that I do so very often.

I don't have personal devices that use windows. I use a Chromebook. My experiences in regards to windows are now limited to other peoples laptops or when I have used them in the university labs for data analytics applications.

well the one right after Z3 was Z3+/Z4 and then the Z5, both had the SD810, and we know what a clusterfuck the SD810 was. The XZ is decent, it can get pretty warm. For the XZ Premium they use a new cooling system and has very little heat build up. It can record 4k video pretty much endlessly.
That's good to know, always thought their phones were good and I liked how inoffensive their addons to android were.

Man, Chrome OS sucks. But I don't have a personal device that uses Chrome OS. I use a Surface Pro 2. My experiences in regards to Chrome OS are limited to other people's CR-48 and a Samsung Series 5.

One of them has a headphone jack.

Look how nice and compact the Pixel is in comparison... wait

Amazingly enough, there is still an actively supported Lineage OS for my old Galaxy Nexus. It's LOS 13.0 which is only 6.0.1....wait...my Note 4 will be stuck on 6.0.1 forever too.

Anyways it's a fun little experiment device. I'm just playing around with Magisk and seeing how modern systemless root works. Fun fact: It's possible to root with Magisk, install Adaway, edit your Hosts file to block ads, and then uninstall Magisk to completely unroot but keep your ad blocking because the Hosts file persists.

Ad blocking is the only thing I still use root for these days, so this is a nice little trick for people who play games like Pokemon Go which have an aneurysm if you're rooted. MagiskHide doesn't always work so if all you need is ad blocking, this is a good alternative. I'm assuming taking OTA's will overwrite your Hosts file, testing that now with the latest LOS OTA Nightly, requiring me to install Magisk, block ads again, and uninstall it every month if I were taking OTA's every month for Android security updates.

edit:

Huh, LOS OTA's don't overwrite your Hosts file. Well shit, this is too easy for LOS users. I wonder if Google's stock Android OTA's on Nexus/Pixel overwrite your Hosts file. One of you guys should test using my method and see if you can keep ad blocking through security updates!

Has anyone gone from pure Android to Samsung's skin? I have a Nexus 6 and was considering my options. V30 looks so sexy (and the $200 rebate is nice as well) but all the talk about the screen has me shook. The pixel 2 xl looks interesting as well. I notice that the z2 force just got a reasonable price drop and the s8 looks so nice but it's Android looks sooooo so different from stock/near stock Android. Man I'm so indecisive lol

Wonder what OnePlus has coming? It's a little early for a 5T, but the 5 flopped so maybe they will rush out the replacement with a fixed screen.

Did it flop? It's sold out everywhere. I can't imagine jelly affected sales much. I assume it sold as well as they'd like.

It sold definitely less than expected. I bought one less than a month ago and it was still a unit made before launch. No real demand on the resale market either. They were eliminating colors and now finally sold out on the final color. They seemingly have stopped producing them.

Just so weird it's completely out of stock with no rumors of the next thing lol.

Maybe oneplus is going outta business!

oneplus was dumb to put a premium price on that shit, very naive of them to think the market will accept a premium priced chinese phone
if oneplus 6 doesn't have a high screen to body ratio then i'm almost certain to get xiaomi mix 2 the next time i visit hongkong

Are there typically any deals for buying phones outright beyond the preorder window? I’m think I’m just gonna get a galaxy note 8 and am wondering if I should wait.

I was in the same boat and got tired of waiting and grabbed a new one off of Swappa. It might be worth a look if you don't mind stalking it because the better prices go very quickly. Some of them include the pre-order freebies too.

Aren't Samsung phone warranties tied to original purchaser? Doesn't seem worth getting one near MSRP if you dont get the warranty

Lol, I feel like a new phone is coming or they ordered new panels so there won't be a jello effect anymore. They are being very quiet about it either way.

Fake

https://www.gsmarena.com/oppo_f5-8889.php

They used the same image as the one for the Oppo F5

I mean we know that Oppo, Vivo, and OnePlus are owned by the same company but the same wallpaper and clock too? Nah son

Let's see what happens, my Pixel 2 XL isn't supposed to ship until Oct 24th so I got all the time in the world to wait for this rumor

Pretty gutted it looks like the Pixelbook isn't coming to Australia. Apparently you can currently import it through Amazon but I'd rather purchase an official release. I guess my only purchase from this wave of Google hardware will be a Google Home Mini, and I'll keep my fingers crossed for an official Pixelbook release in Australia and that the Pixel 3 XL is good!

Booted up my Chromebook pixel 2013 and got the new login and launcher did not expect that, figured this laptop was only getting security stuff now.

Have to say I want that new one though but anyone here used a Chromebook with the android app support?

Looks fake and I hope it is cause if it isn't I'm out and forever done with OP. In fact with the amount of rumours going around I may just sell this OP5 now before a new one does come out and I'm fucked.

If it's based off the oppo f5 and we get 4000mah battery... Sign me up.

F5 only has single shooter on the back though, can't imagine them going backwards there.

Any how if it's true that Samsung warranty only cares about imei... Maybe I should look into a note 8.

Anyone own both a s8 and note 8? im curious if 6gb ram and 7.1.1 helps on responsiveness besides better memory management. Especially at 1440p.

Ask me about the GAF Notebook
I don't get the point of the T line.

Like I get it last year. It was basically a minor internal change in the same case.

This leak basically paints it as a totally new phone.

I've never owned anything with USB-C so this new Pixel will be my first. Do you mind elaborating? And is there a cord like the one im looking for that you recommend?

First batch of usb c chords were rushed out and didn't meet spec. So they could fritz out which could mean harm to your device.

A Google employee started rating cables on his own to see what meet the spec and what didn't.
