Geesh, some people just need to ease up. Goodness. BBQ smokers are an easy way to feed lots of people with decent food.

Dude was just out there trying to help...The other folks, the social media heros, really were doing good work by sitting behind their computer and criticizing someone who was just out there cooking food.

Agreed

Crisis time isnt the place to bitch about optics

Get people to safety and get food water and shelter as fast as possible

Or are the lessons from Texas and Puerto Rico not sticking?

Seems fine to me. If my house was flooded and someone offered me some fish when I was hungry I wouldn't get uppity over it. Guy Fieri seems like a good dude.

100% this. Good on Guy.

Guy Fieri annoys the shit outta me, but this is such a non-issue. Should no one be cooking food using a gas flame either?

He gets a lot of shit, and some of it is definitely deserved as his persona can get a bit grating, but this is a nice gesture by him.

He comes across really well in his Hot Ones interview, too.

Well placed intentions just poor execution. I dont think he needs to get his head chopped off because of this but should definitely just told. Dude is still doing more good than harm.

The fuck? Unless any actual fire victims complain, than sure. But people on social media can piss off with their complaints. If I were living at an evac shelter and had already lost my home, I would've love to have to bbq/smoked meat. Is it insensitive to serve BBQ to fire fighters after a hard day of battling the blazes?

This is just more proof that people suck, and the internet amplifies the suckiness 10 fold. Good on Guy for getting out there and feeding his neighbors.

Guy Fieri tasteless? How surprising! Either way, he's feeding people, what exactly is the downside here, the possibility of triggering someone?
The irony is noted, but getting upset over this is absurd,

I also didn’t realize people hated Guy, Diners, drive-ins, and dives is fucking awesome.

Sure his style is kind of ridiculous but dude legitimately loves food (like more than anyone else lol, it’s hilarious watching him stuff his face and his reactions) and is always super chill with all the folks on his show.

No good deed goes unpunished.

Good on Fieri - I hope the armchair idiots criticizing him do not sour him on helping out next time he has a chance.

Gonna say that going down there to serve food to evacuees is a pretty cool thing for him to do. Complaining that the type of food was insensitive seems like people are reaching for a negative spin.

Don't know much about this dude other than he needs some fashion advice and he's got a cooking show. But man, people will try to spin anything for clicks, people are being fed, this is a good thing and only a good thing.

Guy is a great guy and probably a better person than 99% of celebrity chefs.

Not only that, he is also the reason for some of the best content created on the internet. Dude has done nothing but good as far as I know.

Guy Fieri 2020. Bring America back to Flavourtown.

I love Guy Fieri.

I don't watch his shows and I know people who know him personally who have said mixes things about him.

But the guy is out there helping. That's what counts.

Guy Fieri is corny as fuck, but he seems like a good dude. I don't get why people feel the need to shit on him all the time.

Guy Fieri is awesome. I don't get why people love to hate on him so much. He is a cartoon character, in the good way.

I remember there being some reports about him being not such a great guy.

“From my memory of being a field producer it’s just well-known to me among the crew that Guy has a problem — if there was a homosexual in a restaurant, as the main character, the shoot went different,” Kloster said in a statement.

I've also heard stories about him not being great to work with at the restaurants.

“Were the beans and hot dogs prepared over an open flame?! How insensitive!!!” Jesus fucking Christ.

It’s Guy Fieri, the king of Flavortown, and he’s performing community service. Good for him.

I don't see the issue unless you take offense with the man himself or his food. If he was there doing promotion for the show or something to try and capitalize on the fire itself, sure, let the hate flow. But this is some fucking bullshit.

Should the other cooks there not use open flames because of the situation? Is that too in poor taste? Oh know, it's a gas burner guys! How insensitive! Jesus.

How is it poor execution? Most people should be able to tell the difference between a BBQ and a wildfire. If he had a huge bonfire going dangerously close to some houses, then I could understand. But he's using normal food cooking equipment to prepare free meals for victims.

It's like people are trying to see how far they can go trying to create a social media backlash out of nothing. Whatever Russian intern that came up with this smear story is probably gonna get demoted back to twitter trolling.

Why? Is the smoker going to star another forest fire?

Dude's feeding people, good on him.

What's wrong with sandwiches? I used to make 5 or more a minute when I volunteered.

People are right that it's a drop in the bucket but it's not the best or only way to feed people.

I'm not hating on Fieri, I don't even know why people hate him lol, and it's a great thing that he's doing, but I understand optics.

How is this tasteless?
It's just an off the cuff "joke", it's quite obvious why having a smoker in a fire evactuation seems slightly tasteless initially, which fits well with Fieri's overall corniness. This is an absolute non issue of course, which is why I wrote the rest of the post. He's doing a really good thing.

You keep hand wringing about optics and suggesting what he should do while you do nothing, and he'll keep feeding people.
