That was a nice little horror adventure. Yes, this game is actually creepy despite the cute 2D artstyle. Not extremely scary, but it has a very dense and eerie atmosphere.
Armed with only a flashlight you play as the little sister searching for her dog Poro and her missing older sister in a town full of ghosts.

The gameplay in general is basically exploring the town while trying not to die. Your most common strategies are hiding in bushes or behind signboards and... running for your life.
There are also a few usable items you can find and throw, like rocks to distract some ghosts and animal food to feed cats.
There are many different enemies and they all have their different traits. Most are only visible under light, some only react to sound, etc.
It also has 'boss fights'.

Some parts were a bit annoying in their trial-and-error nature, but in general it was fine. There's also lots of optional stuff to discover. It's a 6-10 hours game I'd say.

Oh look, someone's exploring a castle with a whip, complete with a shot of the protagonist looking at the castle from a distance. Never seen this before.

"Inspired by classic metroidvania games." Come on, guys, if you at least said it was a Castlevania clone I could respect you, but yeesh.

They should use this opportunity to rebrand.
My not so humble suggestions:
  • Greedy Bundle
  • Avarice Bundle
  • Stinted Bundle
  • IGNominious Bundle
  • IGNoble Bundle
  • IGNeous Bundle (they don't all have to be negative)

Oh, and I counted two nearly-identical screenshots on the Witcher's most recent screenshots, as well as a ton of other nude ones from the game's sex cards/succubus fights.

C'mon Valve.

Oh joy, Episode 2 of Life is Strange: Before the Storm was leaked.

Thank you all for your patience while we continue to deal with this situation. We are aware that some Xbox One users are able to access Episode 2 and we are continuing to investigate the situation and the official release date of the 19th October still stands.

If you were one of the lucky ones who is able to access it, we ask that you please avoid posting any and all spoilers or information about the episode until the official release date on the 19th, when all platforms will be ready for release.

We are working with our communities everywhere to try and ensure that spoilers are kept to a minimum until the 19th, but please do take care over the next few days.

Five days to dodge spoilers, huzzah.

I just imagined a dystopian future where IGN becomes so big they buy Steam and then charge people 10$ a month to access your library while forcing you to use IGN prime.

The horror. Cannot unsee what has been seen.

They need to fix that and go back. I don’t even understand the reasoning

To this day it still baffles me how Sony of all people manages to have a better approach on this subject.

Are you sure about that? I get this if I try to preorder:

I know "your name in the credits" is a great way to get people to back a game for more, but have you ever actually seen the credits of a kickstarted game? Goes on forever, and in some cases there are literally thousands of names. It ends up making it less special for everyone.

Oh yeah that I can definitely see. But I was thinking more in terms of difficulty. People tend to quickly pull the DkS card whenever a game is challenging.
It also has an illusory wall and that committed animation thing (like you can't cancel an attack once you input it). It even has rolling!

Wow. I'm pretty sure Dota 2 and CSGO have been on a steady 1+ million peak on weekends before PUBG.

PUBG really took the playerbase from those games, Valve must be somewhat pissed right now.

Good. A pissed off Valve, wanting to get those players back, can only be a good thing.

I wasn't sure if I was being dumb trying to solve there puzzles or not but now that there are reviews in the store for it it looks like I was right, Magic Pixel Picross does have puzzles were there are multiple possible solutions for what you're given but only one correct solution according to the game.

That seems like a big thing you'd want to avoid in a picross game.

Should I start Costume Quest or Batman: Arkham Oranges? CQ because I'd like to play both because Halloween and Batman because I'm in the mood or generic open world...

I catch myself thinking often, why Valve didn't do PUBG.

China money spends like every other places money.

China don't count!

The creator of BattleCON board game is streaming the digital version on twitch. Right now only for PC, but they'll work to mobile versions too.
For anyone that doesn't know BattleCON, it's a simultaneous turn based card fighting game. Each fighter have a dozen of cards that need to be played in pairs to do attacks and other moves like in a 2D fighting game. You can check the finalized kickstarter for more details, but the screenshots are very dated because they changed of developer early this year.

Also, the backers will be able to play the alpha the next week.

I honestly don't think Valve care that much for now. Dota 2 is still a money minting machine for them. The biggest loser has been CSGO, but that game has had issues for a while now. On top of their own games, they're also making a healthy amount from PUBG (if articles are to be believed).

But they definitely lost bragging rights, and that's a big deal for some 'gamers' I guess.

Doesn't look bad. A bit floaty.

If I was Valve I'd be incredibly annoyed at having made roughly 120 million USD on PUBG so far :p

And also at it adding a million or two active players to my platform for that matter.

Valve is also making huge inroads with Chinese buyers with PUBG, will likely have an increase with their profit margins going forward.

Yeah, I actually edited that into my post. The new accounts are probably even more valuable in the long run than the profit on just PUBG.

You think Chinese government will let Valve operate unimpeded in the long run?
Just a question of how massive of a bribe Tencent needs to give to have Steam banned in mainland China.

it actually controls and plays very well, the problem with a lot of these throwbacks is they get the physics and controls wrong the weapon timing or whatever weapon the game uses doesn't feel like the games they try to ape, but this game nails it.

Now for the complaints it's an alpha build but here goes.

1. The enemies are pretty toothless.

2. When Developer make these sprite based games they tend to make them look way too pixelated if that makes any sense.

Edit

I played the demo the first time without sound, was listening to a podcast wow, the music is pretty damn good too.

Both games never were.

CSGO is pretty much where it's been for quite a while and its highest peak was during an event.

Dora is also the same though has shown a steady decline over the past 2 years prior to PUBG. Post PUBG both games have almost the same concurrent players, a point Sergey on SteamSpy made a point about quite a while back.

Boring thing is that all the TF2, CSGO and Dota updates coming have been in development for ages probably with tiny team sizes as Valve focuses on, whetever they're interested in internally, which is probably VR related mostly.

You think Chinese government will let Valve operate unimpeded in the long run?

They answered this question the other day, though imo it was a very business type answer that left it fairly open. I'll try and find the video later
