Posted more in the Warframe topic currently in gaming, but that game man....

The short of it is that it's completely off-putting for a new player like me, for several reasons.

It might be better than Destiny 2 on a systems level, but at this point I think I'd rather just try Destiny 2 anyway. The analogy I made was that it seems to be like the Diablo III vs. Path of Exile situation.

To make a point: the current EVE Online tutorial, which still isn't very good mind you, is better than what I experienced in Warframe's first few hours.

Maybe I've changed, but I don't think I should have to feel like I need to watch tutorial videos/streams and/or read a wiki within the first couple hours of gameplay, even for an extremely dense game. That's just not good design, and even if it's intentional to an extent - the marketing/general air about the game doesn't radiate that.

My problem is that it's not really built for solo play, so it's easy to get overwhelmed by enemies. And when you play with others they're mostly just speedrunning so you can't get a lot of mods and loot because they just want to get through it fast.

Also, the bombard and aerial enemies are assholes.

That isn't to say it isn't fun, but it feels like once Destiny 2 comes out I'll probably drop it like a hot potato, at elast for a while.

Can't stop playing Grim Dawn. I don't thinking ever been so cold on a game the first couple of tries I tried it only to get completely hooked later when you try again.

Time and place I guess.

And a pet class finally lol

Same, I often get sad thinking about all the cool Star Wars games we used to get while EA is now basically wasting the license.

At least FFG's output for board and card games is good.

The way Disney handles licensing just sucks. Maybe if they didn’t do exclusive deals we could get something more interesting.

I agree on FFG though.

LTTP: Rise of the Tomb Raider

So I started Rise of the Tomb Raider tonight after only playing a handful of hours of TR 2013 awhile back (can't remember why I stopped, but it wasn't because it was particularly bad or anything.)

Game is pretty good, at least the first 90 minutes or so, I must say.

Not having owned a Playstation since the PS2, is this like what the Uncharted buzz was always about?

The gameplay isn't necessarily groundbreaking, and it's got some dumb-looking cards-crates or something, but that doesn't seem to matter too much.

But damn, the graphics on this game are hot stuff: was able to bump up to the very high default on my laptop and I'm sure it would look even better on a higher end PC with everything maxed out. The hair and water effects in particular are mesmerizing.

Since it was from Humble the past month, I don't have the DLC at all, but I don't think I'll end up caring too much. Doesn't look like anything offered in particular would enrich the experience - a lot seems like some of the stuff The Witcher 3 (another game I want to work on) gave out for free.

I'm the mood for a modern Wolfenstein. New Order or Old Blood?

Also is the PC version of Nier: Automata still a train wreck?

Hard choice with the Wolfensteins, tbh. New Order is better, but drags towards the end. Old Blood is not as good, but shorter. Go for New Order, but if you feel dragged down by it, play something else for a bit and then return to it.

Nier still hasn't been patched, but generally works okay with the FAR mod (though I think certain GPUs still have issues?).

well I started Doki Doki Literature Club and finished the first 3 club days. Seems pretty innocent so far. Too innocent.
I'm not a big VN fan, especially if they're romance-oriented. I'm just playing it due to the positive impressions and content warnings lol. Played Hatoful Boyfriend for similar reasons, and that game is great.
I can tell that the writing is good, even if the characters are obvious cliches/caricatures, but the story is honestly not very interesting at this point. I'm hoping that this is some sort of self-aware shtick and that it picks up soon.

Didn't expect that dialect in the game, lol.

My friend gave me a cd key for Shadow of War without telling me what it was.
What a bad friend, making me realise how badly I need a new video card.

South Park is unlocking worldwide at midnight CET, judging from Uplay.

Edit: The 17th, that is, not the 16th.

I'll be there Day One on Steam. Since they only announced characters for BlazBlue and RWBY in this trailer I wonder if the late October announcement will be characters from the other two series.

How to find which games I own by the removed dev? Annoyed by running into cards I can't sell and then realizing I have that game in my library.

It's possible to list cards dropped by delisted games, but there is an exception in the form of those dropped by titles that were yanked due to Valve terminating its distribution agreement with the developer/publisher. Here's a list you can consult.

Edit: If you'd like to get rid of the useless cards, give them to TrashDump.

Edit edit: I just realised I misread your post and you're already aware you can generally sell cards dropped by removed games, haha.

R9 390x. It's "fine" as long as I don't try to run things on their highest settings and turn down AA honestly. I was being a little hyperbolic. :p
I don't think I'll buy another AMD video card any time soon though.

Got a free pack of cards today. Unpacked it. Crafted a badge. Came with a 90% coupon for "Shake Your Money Simulator" - a game that's a dollar. Took a look at it. Doesn't even look like it's worth ten cents.

Evil Within 2 completed (went at a slow pace, exploring and doing side-quests, but it is still a surprisingly meaty game. Took me 24 hours for completion.

My PC could only handle the game on Medium graphics settings (it's five and a half years old and was cutting top tier even when I bought it, I need to save up to replace it soon), but here's some screens I took while playing. Game has some great art direction in various spots, and tried to avoid anything more spoiler-y:

Shadow of War seems like the same kind of bland story and completely unlikable characters with more of the cool nemesis system, better combat and even less attention paid to the source material.
I guess I want someone to make a game with a good story and the nemesis system?
