People really think 64GB is too small for a base config? I was 100% behind "16GB is too small" for years when Apple kept that shit as the default, but 64GB is enough for like, 95% of people.

For a typical mid-high end phone with expandable storage?

Sure.

For 1000 of any major western currency for the base model, with no expandable storage?

I can see the issue.

I have 2000 songs, 4000 photos, 120 videos, and 140 apps on my phone, I don't have any of iOS's music and photo "storage optimizations" enabled, and I'm still not using 64GB of my 128GB 6S Plus. A 256GB phone would be a complete waste for me, and even a 128GB phone already kind of is.

I’ve been on 64gb for a few years and I’ve never been in jeopardy of running out. I use iTunes Match though.

If you have a brand new baby and are constantly taking photos and 4k video, that shit fills up.

If I didn't that 64gb is more than enough. I'm super lazy to do imports and rather do them only once when i get a new phone

Hasn’t iCloud photo storage more or less solved that?

For the price tag, yes.

In my opinion, whether or not I use it all for a £1000 I would have liked to see the base storage as 128GB and things like a fast charger in the box, at least make it seem like I'm getting more bang for my buck.

Maybe its because I feel the device is overpriced

I'm on AT&T and eligible for an upgrade. Can I put a down payment for this thing? I want to get it, but I also don't want to raise the monthly bill for my dad who pays for our family plan. I'd happily plop down $700 bucks on day one if I could to minimize the monthly bill. Or do I have to just buy it completely outright.

Was there a news source that took good hands-on photos of the black iPhone X? Looking around and these are the only two sources with good photos:
http://www.hardwarezone.com.my/feature-photo-gallery-iphone-x
http://mashable.com/2017/09/12/apple-iphone-x-hands-on/#mUPO21rQlOq4

Also, I tried looking for a good Imgur gallery, but all I found were memes.

That’s what it looks like to me when it gives you payment options.

oooh snap you're right. Looks like I need to be on Apple's site, Verizon's site, and the Apple Store app when the time comes.

Are these preorders usually one per customer? My whole family is looking to upgrade..

Apps/Games have gotten bigger, Camera have improved drastically from those 16GB days. Pics, videos take up lot of space. Come on now, lets not kid yourself. 1k for 64gb is a shame.

We also have iCloud now, HEVC and HEIF. App archiving without deleting saved data.

Even without HEVC and HEIF, I have 75GB available on my iPhone 6s+ 128GB. With all my photo history, all my music available and 200 apps.

You want to talk price that's a whole other discussion. But 64GB is very much manageable.

I feel like 64gb is enough, but you'd have to keep a bit of an eye on it and prune it every once in a while whereas 256 is a use-and-never-worry or even think about it type thing. Is that worth the price diff, who knows.

Well, yeah that's right. And for some people the upgrade in price is nothing so if it makes them happy, go wild on 256GB.

I guess the % difference in price is not that big for anyone though (if you're already paying out of the nose for an iPhone X), but on the other hand I'd look at the 150+ available GB and feel bad about the waste of memory, whereas with 64GB I'd think "aw yeah I'm utilizing this shit to the max" and that would also influence my day-to-day satisfaction with the device lol. To each his own.

Plus better return on the $ when reselling.

iCloud's 50GB option is only £0.70 per month so I feel like the 64GB model and that much cloud storage would be wiser than paying £150 extra for 256GB.

If you're using your phone for a lot of 4K 60fps video then obviously 64GB won't cut it.

I agree that the price difference is negligible when you're already spending so goddamn much but the price difference is about the cost of a set of AirPods! So take that :p

Even in Canada where everything is a rip-off the 50GB a month is 1.29 I think. Which is about 30 bucks over 2 years. Still a decent deal if you wanted it.

128 was fine for me, if they made 128 with 50$ cheaper i’d rather take that

i will literally never fill up 256gb. that was my computer a few years back.....but have to get it cause 64 is not enough

64GB is perfectly fine for 99% of people buying that phone. Especially as cloud storage is dirt cheap and they’ve just dropped photo and video sizes in half.

Two years ago we had people complaining about 16GB. It went up to 32GB the next year and still complaints. Anything short of the maximum storage for the cheapest price that’s also expandable and somebody will inevitably complain.

While you're probably right, 64GB in a thousand dollar phone in 2017 is a bit ridiculous.

Not that I’m hard up for space, but is Apple offering a way to convert existing photos to the new, smaller format?

Black needs more love. Finally got around to compiling whatever images I could find of the black one. Really thought I might finally get a silver/white phone this year, but after looking at this, I don't think I can ignore the simplicity and elegance of a full black slab. It's going in a case anyway. Really looking forward to having a black back again. Never been a big fan of the space gray of my 6.

Apps and games haven’t gotten that much larger - for one, App Store downloads can only be 4GB large tops, and most mobile games are nowhere near that. The largest game I have on my phone is 700mb. HEVC and HEIF also substantially lower the file size impact of 4K video and high resolution still shots.

I guess you could argue 64GB is not enough for the price, but, well, everything about this phone is a bit pricier than people are used to paying. From a perspective of “is 64GB a good enough amount of storage for most people buying this phone”, I still say yes, absolutely.

❤️ What's the wear and tear on a space black apple watch look like?

I can’t see any physical damage at all. It’s a little less shiny but that’s nothing a clean and polish wouldn’t solve. Holding my series 2 right next to my series 3 (both SBSS) I can hardly see a difference, and one has been in daily use for a year and one is fresh out the box

Video size are "half" due to compression for the same resolution, but actually baloon to way above the size of older videos if you record at 4K or 60FPS. I'm way past 64GB on my phone just on the account of 60FPS videos I've recorded, photos and music that I keep on it, and bunch of games (about 50 or so, and not even 10 of those are very large). I guess I could delete a bunch of games to go somewhat under 64, but that's gonna get filled up again in no time with new videos anyway - and to make it clear I am not even some avid videographer, I just capture a video here and there, once or twice a week maybe. 64GB storage space for One Thousand dollar phone is a sham, considering that much storage memory costs next to nothing, and it's clearly targeted to make as many people go for an even more stupidly expensive 256GB model. Seriously, how can you look at that price, and think that's OK? The fact that super expensive phones are attempting to became normalized over the last year or two doesn't preclude the fact - that is about 2x more expensive than Apple's flagships from just a few years ago, and they are still being stingy with one of the cheaper components in it.

64gb is shit because I like to have a substantial chunk of my music library available offline on the phone and that exceedes 64gb.

128gb is fine; I have that now on my 7 and I have about 20gb free.

If I didn't have to worry at all about mobile data I'd just get 64gb but I have a 25gb a month cap and I dont want to have to worry about it.

A 25GB cap is massive! Here I thought my 10 b was enough.

I don't like the silver Apple logo and stuff on the back of the black one. White all the way.
I think that's just an angle, and it's not really that kind of chrome silver like it was in an iPhone 3GS.

In the following picture we can barely tell it's there at all.

Feels more like the Apple logo is space grey to match the outer rim.

It really is a love-hate relationship. Looks so goddamn sexy as a hardware package but whenever I see the notch/weirdly alinged status bar in any app the magic is just gone. Hope they figure everything out software-wise in time for the XII(I) Plus.
