There's a complete lack of Fireside Taverns in the UK outside of London, and even there only has a few so it doesn't look like I'm getting Nemsy legitimately.

Are there any updated details around for getting this on Android through other means or should that kinda thing not even be discussed on the board any more? Don't want to get banned.

If they change how Raza works I want them to also get rid of the mage quest. They're both frustrating mechanics that make it feel like nothing you've done up to that point matters.

The mage quest itself seems fine to me. The biggest issue with Exodia Mage isn't the quest- it's that none of the cost reduction mechanics in this game specify a lower bounds. Being able to cast infinite Fireballs is what's broken. Jumping through hoops to cast a 6 mana spell for an extra turn isn't that insane.

Edit: Moving Ice Block to the HoF would be fine with me too. I've never been a fan of freeze mage in game with as little interaction as HS.

Ice block going to HoF would mean all control variants of Mage are dead so that's not super inviting either. Maybe they need a second defensive secret to replace it.

Not sure. I got it before Nemsy.
I don't even know if it has to be a brawl or a friendly match (or whatever the name of the other is). Check the Hearthstone wiki in case there's more info on the card back there.

The highlander cards are definitely hurting wild for me. 50% of the games I play my opponent will has Reno.

It’s my far my least favorite card blizzard has printed.

Change Ice Barrier so it's triggered by spells and hero powers, perhaps?
A secret that gets triggered by everything? Lol

This is only true because Priest is SS Tier in Wild. Reno was almost invisible pre-KotFT.

Should be a legendary spell or undiscoverable.
Both.

Ice block is only a problem because the class with the most burn and best OTK has it.

It might be a bit confusing, but I've been thinking about ice block giving both players immunity until their next turn. It would be a tool for mage to survive and allow a recovery, not to cheese a win when the opponent has had a 40 damage board for 5 turns.

Other idea I had is something like 20 armor for this turn only so a big enough board would still get through.

Ice Block and Ice Barrier shouldn't even be secrets. There's no risk vs reward element to the opposing player playing around it, so they don't even fit the design of what secrets are supposed to do.

Ice Block should have been something that you played that just made you immune on your opponent's next turn, rather than something that you play and it triggers whenever it needs to.

Thematically, Mage is supposed to be a glass cannon class that is very vunerable when exposed. This has never been properly represented in Hearthstone because of the combined power of Ice Block and Ice Barrier.

Yeah there is risk vs reward to ice barrier, even ice block. Not popping ice barrier enables secret synergy cards like medivh's valet and popping it heals them for 8. That is balancing risk vs reward. I can't imagine you've never been in the situation where not popping the ice barrier is the right play seeing as freeze mage has been a thing for so long.

What doesn't trigger Eye for an Eye then? Been a while since I played Paladin.
Everything triggers it, but that's irrelevant. What matters is how much room for counterplay there is. All secrets have some, but a barrier that triggers from any damage wouldn't (well, waiting for fatigue would technically be an option).

I used to love playing control mage Mirrors where my opponent doesn't know how to play the match up. They give me a free extra 16HP by popping barriers and I never use any minion damage to face, which is usually enough of a health gap to give me the win.

But the person I quoted lol'd specifically at the idea of a secret that triggers from everything, though. Just struck me as an odd reaction considering there's a secret like that already in the game. And why wait for fatigue? It'd be Eater of Secrets' time to shine!

I suppose they could keep Ice Barrier as gain 8 when attacked by a minion/weapon and make "Arcane Barrier" which is gain 8 when attacked by a spell. Sounds janky enough for Blizzard to go ahead with.

the flow chart is so easy with that. Do you expect your minions to realistically do more than 8 damage, if yes go attack if not stay home.

It's actually more complex then that. Popping ice barrier allows them to play another ice barrier, freeing up hand space and letting them heal for 16 instead of just 8. It also impacts at what health you can pop ice block. It impacts fatigue damage. It impacts your ability to lethal or pop ice block from hand.

What I mean is that the Mage player will almost always get 8 armor from playing Ice Barrier. It is essentially guaranteed value. All of the other secrets, an opponent can trigger the secret with a weenie and the secret low rolls, or the opponent is forced to trigger the secret in a big way and it high rolls.

I meant literally with minions on board, aka attack for 4+ this turn and have another threat to attack for 4+ next turn in case they clear 1 of them.

Also most lists only run 1 ice barrier these days.

They're going hof iceblock and print something new that effectively does the same thing but can't be abused in the same way as iceblock and is stronger in other ways. They've been doing that a lot lately.

What example of that do you have in mind.

It's still more complex than you mentioned. Dealing 8 damage over 2 turns is risk in a lot of situations. Even dealing 8 damage over 1 turn is a potential risk since they can play another ice barrier. It is irrelevant that the mage may only run 1 ice barrier, it is a consideration regardless and you can easily get another off glyph. And that secret could be something entirely different, that being a facet of secrets in the first place.

You don't have to trigger it at all. There is no real guaranteed value here.

I would love for Mage to spend a season or three dead in standard and/or arena. When's the last time that happened?

Only thing I can think of right away would be Kazakus 'replaced' Reno. I know they're not really the same, but you have to use a highlander deck to receive a powerful effect. There's also Raza, Solia, and Krul of course, but I don't know remember how popular they were when Mean Streets released.

Ok, HearthstoneGAF, I drafted a really bad paladin deck in arena und currently I am 0-2 because I played against a paladin and a mage who had all the answers. Should I leave my arena until the begin of the festival or should I try to get more wins?

I have an 0-2 arena deck I'm leaving until the festival. It's a guarantee free reroll and I don't plan to play arena until then anyway, not much for me personally to lose.

Is there no easy way to report Battle.net names (anymore)?

Was playing for the first time in awhile the other day, and one of the people I played against had a name that literally included the n-word.

No funky modifications to get past filters or anything.

Like really?

In other news, I am scum and the decks I crafted to get back in the meta were Razakus Priest, Kelseth Rogue, and Evolve DK Shaman.

I feel like a Blizzard support ticket is basically your only option. Correct me if I'm wrong.

If they HoF Ice Block they need to give Mages a really good set to offset that loss. In Wild they will be nuts.

Not hitting face.

I feel like infinite resources in hearthstone are a mistake.
I think it's better than winning or losing based on how greedy you and your opposing deck are.

I just realized there is a fireside gathering in my town very near of my apartment on Saturday evening. Maybe I should go there but after the stories I read on reddit I am shivering. I even know the bar where it should take place.

Serious question, how long HAS it been since Mage was at all bad, or not pick priority #1-2 in arena?

Tell us these shiver-inducing stories!

There are many fireside gatherings popping up around me. Most of them even say that they want the skin. I am afraid that I might end up dead, robbed or both if I go to one of them. Maybe I make my own where I'm doing an internship.

But Hearthstone is not really working on my phone because it is too old and I have no space. So I need to bring my laptop. And this could be very embarassing. I think I will really go there just to check things out and drink a beer.

I was thinking the same thing. If there's one near my area at a bar or something, I'd head over. Grab a drink and some food, stealthily concede a match for the hero, then bail out.

So far though, every place I've checked have been personal addresses. Don't think people realize the requirements of being a tavern.
