It sounds like your sticking point is that Trump hasn't explicitly stated or done so. Just so you know, I actually approve of the regulations on media, but it should be the media that hold them accountable. If I had my way no one involved in news media should be allowed to donate or support any party/politician.

You don't have to care about the bottom line of media companies, but taking away this privilege and only allowing those that Trump views favorable on him to stay, will only force news agencies to only publish positive stories, or scare them away from publishing bad ones. This is if not explicit, an implicit threat to news media to be nicer to him. The other problem here is what does Trump consider Fake News. He lies all the time on even minor things. When he's been called out on this, he's accused it of being Fake News.
