[Rumor] Microsoft to announce a new Gears, Forza Horizon 4, Halo and Sunset Overdrive 2 at E3

Just telling people not to engage with rumors with no credibility like that Sony conference rumor thread.

I hope, at least, this isn't acceptable as we're headed towards E3.

People can make their own decisions as to what to believe, and Leocarian's reputation for info will now live or die on their 'not predictions' post here, but that doesn't require shots fired from you. I'll ask the team what the official stance on posting rumours as confirmed is.

We already have Quantum Break for that.

If I was a Sony person I'd be asking if we're ever gonna get anything like Xbox has (Halo, best fps, Gears, best 3rd person shooter, Forza, best racer, Halo Wars, best RTS, Cuphead and Ori, best 2D platformers, Sea of Thieves, State of Decay, Crackdown, varied and unique multiplayer experiences)

LOL, never change man. Sony has no games.

Let's be serious here lol.

Thanks, but I should also point out that what was posted in this thread was not posted as rumours, but they are posted as "not predictions".

I know. Read my post again. I mean they are rumours to us being claimed as confirmed.

Hey, wouldn't say that. But most of Sony's games are 3rd person single player adventure games and I don't understand why the popular narrative is that that's the only way to cultivate a console's library.

Go to Twitch or Steam or any other place with metrics. What are the most popular multi-player games? I'll give you a hint, they are not made by MS or Sony. So you can dump money into a non-story non-narrative game like SoT, then be prepared for everyone to ignore it while they play Fortnite, COD, Battlefield, Destiny, The Division and countless other 3rd party games.

you could probably find it if you googled it,I just dont feel like searching for the link rn srry lol.

That being said, 343 also said they weren't working on halo 2 anniversary then announced mcc at e3 years ago so...
Ah yes the "ive heard but i dont know from exactly where" type of source dodge. So i did a quick google search and all statements of "no halo 6 at e3" were from 2017. For This year im finding a lot of site rumors and speculations of halo 6 qt e3 from sites like gamspot and ign but no downright "halo isnt coming" statement.

I think that will be happening in 2019, not enough time has passed yet for them to really blow everyone out of the water.

They aren't going to have things for release this holiday, except for FH4 and maybe Crackdown. But they can show those, plus everything for next year and maybe a tease of something further out. That would be good enough along with everything else.

Forza Horizon is most likely a September title like always so that falls into Fall. There WAS some speculation among the sources that Crackdown is a surprise announcement release in the Summer as a Game Pass title as we already know. But I don't think that's the case anymore. However, I am also hearing the game might be delayed once again. I believe they're debating now if they want to release the game late 2018 or early 2019 but that just a guess.

If they can't release Crackdown in say August, I do think they should delay until early next year. This is arguably the biggest 3rd party holiday of the generation and it would be silly to get lost amongst it.

But as I said, if they show or tease all next years games, they can have 5-6 exclusives in the show. Can't really ask for much more than that.

It sounds like we have similar "friends." Lol

The 2019 thing going around seems to be FUD. Least that's what I've heard.

Another halo? another gow? another forza? please no. This is not ms needs for the xbox. I'm tired of those franchises.

I have never understood this logic. You may be tired of the franchise and that is fine but there are millions of other people that are anxiously awaiting the next entry in these franchises.
It has been 3 years since the last mainline Halo and 2 years since the last Gears. Who are you to say this isn't what MS needs and deny the fans of those franchises their next entry? They absolutely need to make games for their core audience because a huge part of their audience exists BECAUSE of Halo, Gears and Forza.

Does MS need new IP? Yes of course they do but it isn't a zero sum game. For them to make a new Halo it doesn't come at the expense of a new IP (Yes it happened that ONE time with Shangheist/Gears but that was during an acquisition/IP buyout and was a one time thing under very unique circumstances)

And this "logic" somehow doesn't apply to Mario, Zelda or Uncharted and Last of Us but it does to anything Microsoft does.

Right? Could you imagine if I went over to ERA and said "I don't think Nintendo should make another Mario, they need a new IP"
I think I'd be perma banned for even suggesting it.

I defended Halo 4s story, wasn't the best of them by any means but it was a fine first attempt and setup at a new trilogy.

5 though...It completely went off the rails for me I'm sorry to say, felt pretty fanfic at times.

Hunt the Truth and the Forerunner trilogy by Greg Bear felt like they were setting up such cool stuff, and then it was this plot out of nowhere instead.

So I'm tepid but also hopeful at where 6 goes now.

Everything is the best on Xbone.

Or the halo comics that took place after spartan ops? Was hoping to see that key mean something to the overall plot or halsey's revenge but of course it completely fizzed out as the forerunners took back that key and jul mdama died in the first act of 5 leaving halsey in the unsc's care for the remainder of the game. The comic, spartan ops and just about everything 4 set up essentually led nowhere.

I mean i hate being so pessimistic about it, i love halo, but its because of my love for that gets me so steamed with where theyre taking the series. I really hope 6's story turns out amazing. I really cant deal with another halo 5

Halo 6 and FH4 announcement is already expected, Gears 5 might be a little early, Sunset overdrive 2 would be an amazing surprise

This is making me question my investment in the One X. Sunset Overdrive was meh at best and in my opinion was one of Insomniac's poorest efforts to date. And a new Gears, Halo and Forza (or the unholy trifecta as I call it) are hard to remain enthused about. I know at heart I'm a playstation fanboy, but I would genuinely love to see Microsoft look back on what made the 360 so special and pump out some new exclusives that make me think it was worth spending £450 on a One X.

Uncharted is done and The Last of Us is only one game. Mario and Zelda, for sure lol.

U prob should wait til e3 to make judgement

I'm curious if this was your first gears game?

Fourth. I did play a beta or demo of Judgement, I think it was multiplayer only though. I beat 1, 2 and 3.

I feel like if I was to go back to them, I would have the same reaction as I did with part 4 but who knows? I did enjoy the first 3 but maybe it's because they were sort of fresh.

Not the most surprising list, and I suppose Gears is still a strong Xbox franchise (not exactly difficult in the current environment lol) so I guess there's always hope that the next one is better than the last half-effort.

Was there ever a thread on the Wal-Mart leak? I can't seem to find it.
I'd love to grade it because it seems almost 100% on target.
They even mentioned the Lego DC Villians by name.

Even though they denied it, I am betting you will hear something about Borderlands 3 also.

Has there been an E3 in the last 10 years where MS hasn't shown at least one of those three tired franchises (Halo/Gears/Forza)? Isn't this one of the reasons why their more casual fans (not their blind fanboys) are so disappointed with them in recent years?

I thought people wanted to see a LOT of NEW and big budget exclusive IPs from them and not the same 3 games they have been getting over and over again for the last 10+ years.

Hopefully all the games they announce promote and utilise diversity in the way Battlefield V is doing it.

Pretty sure this rumor is fake. Speculation is that the guy just guessed Bethesda's game name.
I'm not banking on it, not like any of these games other than sunset really interest me lol and even then I'm not hyped or anything...

Forza is an annual title, it will always be shown. But we didnt get anything gears related at e3 since 2016 and since 2015 we only got a snippet of anything halo related and that was halo wars 2.

People arent mad that they exist. People are mad at the state they exist (gears 4 is ok, but halo 5 is easily the most divisive title in the series and mcc was a broken mangled mess of a game)

I mean seriously, being mad at xbox for continuing its best selling IPs is like being mad at nintendo for continuing to make mario and zelda games

To be fair, even though I think PS4 has more better games. I still think that for me personally, Xbox still has the types of games which interests me the most.

And he is right in what he said about FPS, TPS, and racing. I am biased though as Halo is too big of a deal for me

The problem is that Microsoft really to establish new IPs. Sony would be in a similar position if they only had Uncharted and Gran Turismo and were struggling to produce a successful new IP. There's a reason why Nathan Drake's story ended in Uncharted 4 and SMS decided to "reboot" the God of War series - and that's because they know the fans want something "different". Nintendo is in a unique position because Mario is popular as he has ever been before.

Well, Sony takes the risk. Microsoft canned Scalebound, Phantom Dust, and Fable Legends, so they really don't like to take risks in establishing new IPs. Even when they do, they just completely bomb, like Sea of Thieves is a good example. Microsoft just lacks that pedigree of recognizing what fans what and what they don't want. Sony also has some misses, but they continually take risks and half of them pay off.
