Crackdown 3 delayed to February 2019

Couple of years ago I thought the game would be huge. You know, cloud based destruction, the power of the four Xbox One combined. The new big thing. But last year's E3 gave as a dull, quite frankly not the best looking trailer. Now I couldn't care less if it's canceled or finally put to sleep. I love my Xbox One X, but Microsoft really needs to get its shit together.

I do wonder if trying to make this use the Cloud has been the cause of all their problems. As soon as they walked that back it was always going to be a problem, I wonder how much they've had to change or lose over the years. There could be a good article about the development of Crackdown in a few years

Still, I'm all for Microsoft giving it a chance, The Last Guardian eventually made it out and was good, but it needed the time, and probably a more powerful console

PS4 title gets delayed: "thats a good thing! take your time!" and of course the Miyamoto quote: "A delayed game is eventually good. A bad game is bad forever."

XBOX title gets delayed: "haha of course, just cancel it! It sucks anyway!"

SonyGAF. Never change. lol

Sorry my friends, but I have to disagree. The situation od Crackdown 3 od like a member ending story. How long it is on development, 4 years? But against, we have some crazy production times on PS4, just to name The Last Guardian. And the thing is that prolonged development time rarely shows in the game quality.

one person has said cancel it, one person is indifferent, and that person has a Master Chief avatar. Take a breath

Are they doing the opposite of CD2 where they gave them 6 months to make the game?

FFS I put more trust in Platinum to make a decent game in Scalebound that had multiple delays (that MS outright cancelled) than whatever these chucklefucks are doing.

CD3 better either not be delayed or if it is, it better blow my socks off instead of the utter dumpster fire I'm expecting it to be.

You make this post after someone says cancel it?

It's like people on here believe everyone is against Microsoft. People seem forget that Microsoft is in desperate need of big AAA titles while Sony is not. This is why the reaction for Crackdown was different compared to a game like Crackdown 3. It also doesn't help that this game as announced in 2014.

They obviously had a revision, or doing crazy graphical improvements and optimizations. I have heard this game didn’t run that well, and looked bland last year when people played it. MS needs to figure out the appropriate time to announce titles, and set release date expectations a little lower.

They better at least show it at E3, including the sodding Multiplayer. Show us why it's worth the wait.

Delay is no big deal though if it comes early 2019. It wouldn't be wise to launch amongst this holidays 3rd party barrage anyway.

It's a lose lose scenario for Microsoft...

Either release the game under developed, lacking content, or polish like State of Decay 2 and Sea of Thieves.

Or...

Delay the game for further development as based on the previous trailers, the game badly needs it, and end up displeasing their own fanbase even more with an extended drought of medicore first party content.

How is this going to displease the fan base? Did you want them to release this when the million games get released this fall? You are assuming that no games are going to launch this year which is most likely false.

This is what happens when you try to base a game around unproven game tech. (Specifically cloud-computing for 100% destructibility)

*sigh*

I just wanted crackdown 1 with a new setting and better graphics/controls

I've been wondering about this - has there as of yet been a single game that takes advantage of "the power of the cloud"? To me, it seems like it just couldn't work (currently), especially in a multiplayer setting where people can have vastly different net connections. And even with an uber-duper-super connection, the server might not be nearby enough so you still may get too much latency to make it worthwhile.

I'm not saying it is impossible, but I'm curious if it's been done yet.

Always looked like shit. I doubt too many care about the IP to begin with

Nah, the first one was fun back on the day. The could build up sth really good on the idea while making the new one. It's a shame that the trailer for last E3 made no impact.

They should just acquire the true Crackdown Sequel “APB” and rebuild it for Xbox. Probably take the same amount of time and it totally fits their games as service mantra.

I loved Crackdown 1 but after crackdown 2 I kind of wrote the franchise off so my expectations are are super low for this game so I hope I am surprised with a great game.

Xbox leaning fan here.

This is the best thing that could happen after releasing 2 major games that reviewed mediocre.

This has been rumored for weeks, so I am surprised it is getting some of the hyperbolic responses. The actual rumors center around 2 things. Changes in leadership at MS allowed budgets for First party games to increase substantially and that the game wasn’t quite ready for the first quarter so there only choice would be 2019 as 2018’s fall release schedule would kill the game.

I hope these two things are the case and that the game isn’t in danger of being cancelled. I thought the MP demo in 2015(?) was great looking and that the SP demo last year looked like high fidelity Crackdown so some extra time to improve and polish should be a good thing.

let’s see what happens Sunday before we get out the forks and lighters.

I'm excited for what Crackdown 3 can be. Disappointed, but I wish this had happened with State of Decay.

Whoa, you hit em right in the spot , that stung. I mean just look at the comments below, speaks for itself..

There's zero difference between Sony or MS gm, if team needs more time than that's that. It'll come out weather you like it or not, deal with it..and we will find out more at E3.

Probably an early 2019 game.... which is smart instead of trying to stack another game into the always flooded holiday release and later cancel the series because it under performed.

I wouldn't really call crackdown 3 an AAA game. AA game at best. Plus i feel like a small number of people actually care for a new crackdown. The rest who are vocal probably have no interest in it then say scalebound. Just in my opinion

So it's likely been delayed from October 2018 to January-February-March 2019? That seems like a good idea. It moves it out the way of the established big releases at the end of the year and it will actually give it a chance to sell a few copies (plus it'll give the dev team some extra time for another layer of polish).

I'm a huge fan of Crackdown, so I'm looking forward to this. I can't wait to see more at the MS press conference in three days! o_O. Hopefully we get a...cracking (ahem) trailer with Terry Crews.

There's been a lot of these very defensive Xbox comments lately and almost all seem completely unprovoked.

Is legitimate criticism about Xbox's lack of quality exclusives this generation not allowed? I don't see much fanboy trash talking, but actual concerns and frustrations from those of us who own Xbox One, yet feel let down overall.

If anyone is showing fanboy bias it's comments calling anyone criticizing an Xbox move as "Sony GAF". You're separating the community by console, not the other way around.

At this point it's fine. I have a hunch based on nothing they may have been internally targeting Oct/Nov then RDR2 was announced for 10/26.

The longer Crackdown 3 gets delayed the harder it will be for the game to sell itself after titles like Red Dead Redemption II, Spider-Man, and other AAA games coming later this year.

As long as the game gets a solid release date at E3 then it should be all good. It would at least show some confidence in the game and that it is in a pretty good state.

Wouldn’t putting it out before be a disservice to the game? As long as they show good gameplay, and have a release date I think it will be fine.
