Of course it's not gonna be dark and gritty during the day, guys. This is CDPR we're talking about. There will be dark, stormy, grimy nights.

The "gamer girl" from the GameSpot stream clearly doesn't know shit about the cyberpunk genre. She was legitimately surprised to see characters rocking mohawks. I mean, the word "punk" is included. Where do they find these idiots?

Maybe Gamespot went looking in this very thread, plenty of these idiots here apparently.

There's just something about the illumination that doesn't give the same feeling like the effects in Judge Dredd. I would've liked if they changed lightning in a timelapse and the clouding, so we could see that things change drastically.

I've watched the trailer multiple times now (something I haven't done for a game in awhile) and the more I watch it, the more hyped I get. I'm loving the music in the trailer and tone it's setting. I can't wait to see some rainy, night time gameplay.

The biggest problem they have is the tone of the original trailer and this one is completely different. One feels like a dark drama and the other a story mode for scifi fortnite.

After watching the trailer a few times I'm getting a GTA 5 but in a Cyberpunk world type vibe from this....which isn't necessarily a bad thing....but also not blown away like I thought I would be.

GerAlt-Right. Ciriously.
Im honestly surprised at how many people rated this trailer a 10.

I thought it was a very mediocre trailer that did nothing to hype me for the game.

I expect the game to be a masterpiece, but if this was a trailer shown by another unknown studio I doubt the reception to the trailer would have been as high.

Night city isn't Megacity. Cyberpunk isn't like deus ex, or Megacity world.
Closest to CB setting is blade runner but CB is much more about punk than just cyber.

Do I need to show BR images? It's giving a bad impression of selling a cyberpunk daytime, we should be able to criticize it for that. In some of the images it looks great, in others it looks not so great and in some of them I wouldn't be surprised if it was from GTA. The trailer is really bad at selling the mood, while it does give a good showing of the variety in the city. If you're just going to sell me that kind of daylight there, then I'm certainly less interested (even if I'm obviously going to buy it, as it's CD Projekt). If they were going to show daylight, they should at least timelapse it, to give a showcase of important colors like a golden sun/sunset, smog and more dreary clouded lighting of the city. You need a good contrast between night and day and you need also different contrasts within them. If you're too liberal with the visual design, then it could just as well not be "cyberpunk" and just be futuristic.

The style looks interesting but I don't know what's gameplay and what's not. Let's not be so quick to forget Watchdogs.

I don't get how people think that the trailer isn't cyberpunk enough. Like have you never seen daylight scenes from any cyberpunk movies?

I thought the tonal range of that trailer was amazing, from dark broody neon filled scenes, to glorious daytime shots of the ever imposing cityscape. I admit, the narration was kinda meh, but how was that trailer not gritty? You had people being beaten up in dirty alley ways, being mindjacked and brainfried, Machiavellian corporate overlords enjoying a riot with a good glass of wine, parents rotting away in front of their holo screens while their boy is jacked in some kind of violent VR scape, holo-prostitutes, spider drones, body augments and robot prosthetics, brutal gunfights, towering skyscrapers full of neon displays... and one of my personal favorites:

Man, I can't wait driving around through the neonlit streets in this badass machine being all:

The things I want to know:
- Is that car our horse in this game?
- Do we have to be the protagonist in the trailer? Will we have a customisable character?
- Will there be good humour like there was in the Witcher 3?

You're not doing yourself a favor with those comparisons.
That first one has a dreariness to it, which contrasts well between how things might look in daylight to the bright neons and soaring life at nighttime.
The second one could've just as well been a game like GTA, showing our times.

EDIT: This being said, I assume that lights, smoke/clouds, contrasts, illumination and shadows are things that they are able to tweek easier, so they'll probably find the perfect mix during development up until release.

I think the only thing that kinda bothers me about the day time scenes is that it's a bit too sunny and beautiful, we need a bit more pollution for the dystopian city.

No gameplay at all. I'm reluctant to give CD Projekt the benefit of the doubt on that since Witcher combat was not really something I'd praise.

It's understandable that they have to showcase daytime too since it's an open world title with a day/night cycle. Still, the trailer was quite vibrant and very literally punk. It definitely felt like it went a step towards WD2 and the usual suspects like Overwatch/Fortnite with the stylistic color scheme and graphics. Of course this is just a CG trailer so it doesn't really say tell anything about how the game will end up looking like, just an overview of the look and tone of the game world. It definitely was a bit different from the original teaser so I'm not surprised people are questioning just how dystopian this will end up feeling. That said, I'm not drawing too many conclusions based on this, just that they seem to be drawing a lot from the 80's/90's retro themes visually, which isn't something you really see much in stuff like Blade Runner or GITS.

The cynics are kicking the shit out of this trailer. It's not something I expected from CDPR, but I still enjoyed it and once I see some game play, we can talk about pre-ordering.

How the hell you guys see OW/FN style is beyond me.

Those are in-game assets.

It's just the color schemes and stylistic character models rather than going for strictly realism that reminds me of those games. Just a tad, it's not like there's any other similarities, they're just the most notable titles. Watch Dogs 2 is probably the closest actual game that comes to mind in as a comparison.

Given CDPR's previous track record with early trailers, I don't really expect the gameplay to look exactly like that. "Game engine footage" doesn't mean anything these days. Trailers like these never really look quite the same as the gameplay years later. They're supposed to introduce you to the world and the overall tone rather than be an accurate representation of how the end product plays.

If an unknown studio released this trailer I would be blowm away. If It was a kickstarter I would call is a likely scam.

Seriously what trailers looked better than this one. Expecially during that conference. What exactly are you comparing it to?

Pretty amazing. Could we expect to see some actual gameplay at another conference perhaps?

Some reactions:

Frankly, despite being the originator of the genre "Cyberpunk", I find it kind of weird that Gibson of all people would be unfamiliar with the nature of the offspring he spawned as a result of the Sprawl Trilogy. An 80's inspired retro-future over a GTA-esque world is exactly what some of us were hoping for. Don't get me wrong I can appreciate what SE was doing with the Deus Ex series, but the inherent problem with those games is they feel small and pedestrian when they need to feel large and vibrant. If you're going to set a game in a modern city, it needs to feel like a city with scope and activity, not a couple of City blocks where vehicles are just loot boxes.

9. Great trailer but I want to see more and I want gameplay! As a trailer it did it's job of exciting me and building hype, I just wish we got gameplay also.

It looks super impressive. I know Im gonna need a new PC or console to have it looking that good at home.

So uh, where's the grittiness gone

Yeah, some of the artwork for this game led me to believe it was gonna be grittier too. Im a big fan of light and color in games, but I want a neon night time with lots of strippers too :)

6. No gameplay and I expected Deus Ex and I got Watch Dogs. Thing is, I know this game is going to be glorious so it's like whatever just announce the date and I'll buy it as soon as humanly possible.

I really don't like character style. So... boring, uber-muscled men and women, baldy guys here and there... Also, setting reminds me Watch Dogs.
The teaser trailer of some years ago was really cool but now, I'm not very happy. Hope things will getting better.
