Well one thing for sure, he's the manliest and most Alpha 'Dwayne' in the world. Sissy name probably had a part to play in his transformation.
Most definitely. He hasn't done enough (or gets the good expensive stuff) to get those man titties yet though.
The Rock i'm sure is either still using roids, or flatout going nuts on TRT. He had to bulk up quite a bit for his role in the Hercules movie too. At the end of the day he isn't competing in a sport so it's legal I guess. His body, his funeral. It'll catch up with him sooner than later.
Like if I was selling steroids I could get busted?
actually aren't steroids outright illegal? Like if I was selling steroids I could get busted?
Wow. I should pay more attention to his tittays. If you remember, the Rock was out of wrestling for a short period of time. And it was due to the fact he had surgery on pecs. He had some fatty tissue removed. I remember how we used to joke about his man-boobs because there was always just a little bit of fat that it seemed he couldn't get rid of at the gym. But then when he came back, they were gone.

terry has a fu ked up chest because of steroidsYou CAN look that big without steroids by using creatine, high protein and such while on an intense workout regimen. It's not unheard of. Terry Crews is a good example of this but he seems to also have the genetics for that kind of muscle mass at his age. I've seen dudes older than Terry muscles just as big without steroids.
Most actors aren't tanks like Johnson (none of them are except Crews, maybe). It's not that I doubt he's used PEDs and other work, but the ability to get that huge has to be genetic.Tons of male actors use steroids, it's not really different than plastic surgery, hair transplants etc. It's their job to look 'perfect'. They'll also dehydrate themselves, and get a massive pump going, just for shooting a shirtless scene. It's pretty ridiculous IMO

It's also how genetics respond to the drugs and the timing. Genetics are most important, but bodys react differently to steroids. Dwayne Johnsons stacks aren't nearly as complicated and "diverse" compared to let's say Mr. Olympia contestants and he's also not nearly as big as them.
Almost 90% of the male actors in movies are using steroids every now and then, when they need to be lean, get muscles or even both at the same time. You don't have to look like Dwayne Johnsons to be on steroids. 99% of the people look smaller than him and are using steroids. There is a huge knowledge gap in the general public about steroids, what they're doing and how they work.
This made me laugh more than it should have. I should replay The Secret of Evermore. I enjoyed it a bit more than Secret of Mana.
Dude when I saw the pic for the first time I was laughing so hard you cannot imagine. So I know exactly what you mean.
@SoE I loved both for different reasons and the older I become the more I appreciate the tone of secret of evermore.
The thing is SoM has coop and as kid I loved to play it with a friend. And I still enjoy the coop mode.
His delts are a dead giveaway pointing to likely steroid use - they're like cannonballs.
Great writeup. It's becoming more and more common for older men to get completely on TRT and that's likely what this is. I once saw a blog from a roider that explained Chris H.'s insane size in the first Thor (notice he's much smaller in every Thor appearance there after) and it explained the only way such growth was possible between movies was prohormones + steroids which is not sustainable at all. The Rock is that big so it's possible he's doing TRT with some other crazy supplements. When you take exogenous steroids/testosterone, your body reacts by producing less testosterone endogenously (ball shrinkage etc.). This can be manageable by cycling off the roids and taking other drugs to recover, and Hollywood actors usually do that one "money shot" shirtless scene they bulk up to and wear a costume otherwise. Dwayne's not really doing it that way and he walks around enormous. Making it a full time component of your life will inevitably stunt your natural testosterone production more and more and make you dependent on exogenous hormones to retain your muscle mass.
No doubt he's on some cocktail of PEDs, but he's not a pro athlete and isn't claiming to be natural so far as I know.
I think that Joe Rogan is a window into a new opinion that will become more common in the rest of the country in about 10-15 years.
The opinion is that as you age as a man, careful and considerate steroid and testosterone use is actually better for your health than not taking it. You stay looking late 30s-ish with a ripped physique until your mid 50s. People in the upper class and people in California are experimenting with this now and I think they all see it as completely fine as long as you aren't hiding it for competitions.
I expect this to become more mainstream as time passes. Usually the coasts are 10 years ahead of the midwest.
That's just my ignorant opinion though, as someone who has never tried any of this shit and never intends to. People are clearly using it more visibly now, and are trying to make it part of a healthier lifestyle.
They look good for 50.Rogan, Dana White, Matt Serra, they all look bloated. bald, fat face with abs. They dont look healthy at all.
Can huge ripped beefcakes achieve it by working out like crazy and doing mass gaining protein shakes or other legal stuff you buy at GNC?
Or are just about all huge dudes on roids?
Rogan started to bald way before he went on TRT about 11 years ago. As for his face, he used to inject HGH daily for years which gives people that bigger head like Tito Ortiz. It's permanent when you overdo HGH. He doesn't take HGH anymore., just TRT + a load of vitaming and supplements (Creatine being one known for water retention and bloating)Rogan, Dana White, Matt Serra, they all look bloated. bald, fat face with abs. Matt Serra actually looked worse shortly after retiring from fighting...he just ballooned up and was obese. Clearly he was just eating tons of pasta and pizza, and drinking too. He said the hardest thing about being in the lightweight division was not being able to eat pasta and pizza, and that he was always craving it.
Well, after a few years of retirement and feeling like a shell of his former self....he went on the TRT....and continued to eat like shit, he jokes there's no way he can eat worse and that considering how much pizza he eats, he should look worse than he does.
Dana White went bald a long, long time ago. Even before he started putting on weight. Even in his first interview as UFC president when he was much younger and thin, you could see his receding hairline.
There are many on TRT who don't get these side effects. It's really a crapshoot and depends on your genetics. If you're not genetically predisposed to balding, then TRT won't make you go bald (see Chael Sonnen and the many Hollywood actors who manage to keep a full head of hair like Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, Hugh Jackman. Then others who start getting a receded hairline early on like Henry Cavill).
One thing to note: TRT can increase appetite in patients...not all of them.
So many normies don't understand that what top bodybuilders and strongmen achieve is a perfect storm of genetics, diet, working out and courtesy of a complex hormonal/steroid cocktail. But it is 90% genetics. The average man or woman could never resemble them or shift the same forces, no matter how much gear they took. You get gym rats coming in every day, clearly on roids, with some disproportional muscle groups, who look completely underwhelming next to a natty proportioned individual. How your muscles are set up and where they connect is king when it comes to form and function, and that comes from genetics.
I do get worried sometimes, people like Larry Wheels (or larry wheelchair if he keeps going) are pushing their form to the genetic limit. He's shifting the same weights and experiencing the same strains on his frame as Thor, a much larger man.
An actual natty that has taken his genetics to peak is Juji, he can only match ~70% of the strength of these roided up strongmen.
HGH testosterone but not TRT. TRT just maximizes natural hormone levels. Rock is probably triple to quadruple that.
Edit:
I’m 40 years old and do TRT only. My hormone levels are at the top range of a natural 25 yr old male. It’s made a HUGE difference in my quAlity of life. Anyone 35-40 should be doing it if you feel like you’ve lost a step. I put on 10 lbs of muscle and lost fat. In the gym I’m as strong as ever. It’s like getting your youth back.
It's testosterone in lower dosages (100 to 250 mg per week). Athletes who juice typically take around 600 to 1,000 mg per week.Is TRT the stuff that Frank Thomas is always endorsing in the gym on those commericals?
It's testosterone in lower dosages (100 to 250 mg per week). Athletes who juice typically take around 600 to 1,000 mg per week.
People who benefit the most from seem to be in the following categories:
-young men who naturally have lower than average testosterone levels. Often these guys lack masculine features like thick body and facial hair, muscle mass, manly voice, etc.
-people who used to abuse steroids and had to go off them for various reasons and thus their body's natural testosterone production got shut down permanently.. Many pro athletes who used to juice fall under this category. TRT does wonders for them
-people over 40 who just want more energy to improve their quality of life and get more shit done throughout the day.
I'm in my mid 30s and I believe I have an above average testosterone level. So it'll probably be unhealthy for me to take TRT right? I'm assuming there has to be some negative side effects right?
There are some side effects that seem to hit some people but not others for unknown reasons.
-accelerate hair loss - only effects people who were genetically prediposed to balding in the 1st place. If everyone on both your mom and dad's side of the family have a full head of hair, you're probably safe. I'd say this affects about half the patients on TRT. Look at Vitor Belfort as an example of a guy who has abused roids since his teens then went on testosterone in his mid 30s as a guy who is totally unaffected by this.
-Weight gain - TRT seems to increase appetite. For those who exercise regularly and lift a lot this if a positive especially if they wanna bulk. In some cases, appetite doesn't increase at all.
-bloating- mostly facial boating, some get it some don't. Those who do get it normally only have bloating initially aned then it eventually subsides.
-facial redness - TRT increases red blood cell count. A way to combat this is donating blood or taking blood thinning supplements (fish oil)
-Bacne - YMMV, most don't get it.
There are others. But basically, it's a crap shoot. You might get every negative side effect because genetics, or you might luck out and only reap the benefits because genetics. Only way to know for sure is to try it. But then trying it risks shutting down your body's natural T production...but then getting off it and taking HCG (promotes natural testosterone production) could fix that, but it's not a guarantee. Worst case scenario if you will have to inject yourself with T 1x or 2x a week for the rest of your life.
I wouldn't say it'd be unhealthy for you to do TRT if you have above average levels...more just that it's not as advantageous or necessary.
