Yep. So days gone expectedly did relatively bad compared to other Sony 1p games.

the game was delayed one or two years, hell I heard it was supposed to come out in 2016 from some insiders. and it looks as mediocre as the day they showed it. lets be real, a studio that hasn't made a triple A game ever (their past projects were really small) was not ready to make a game like this. and it really shows. am kind of hypothesizing that Sony told them to make this game after TLOU 2013 success. which is coincidentally when this game started development (weird if that was just a coincidence right?)

wouldn't it have been nice for once this generation to get a non-third person action adventure game from a Sony studio?. idk maybe. an original ip?. or an existing ip? anything really woulda been more welcomed than this game

am just not a fan of non-diversity in games. am not talking about the racial one. but Sony games have not been diverse at all despite putting out some pretty good 1P games. I believe besides a few all their games have been third person action adventure games. and the story idk how describe it. but they all try to make this sad tone, lifetime movie-esque stories that just don't sit well with me. and make these ubisoft-y open world games with a lot to grind and really annoying unnecessary repetetive mechanics tasks that you have to do a lot.

I hope this is a wake up call for Sony to make games for everyone to enjoy and not the person thats looking for depression inducing. mak something colorful and fun again. or something hyper realistic. some f us just dont want to see the slice of life movie games mind you with a twist (like zombies) thats just an overdone bog standard.

we don't need more games that have more voice acting and mocap than gameplay design. naughty dog fits just the bill for that. and thats enough. we just need some actual games. nobody wants a a movie story with tacked on piss poor repetitive gameplay loop

they coulda developed two colorful platformers in the time it took them to make this. or even a shooter like resistance as they worked on the series before woulda taken less. like its just meaningless.

Not judging you OP, but surfing the web I'm seeing happiness because apparently the game bombed.

it is dear god it is. hate ign and gamespot. but thank god for ign and gamespot today. is good news for me someone that grew up with what playstation used to be which it is not what it is now anymore. ps1,ps2,ps3. you bought these to get all kind of cool exclusives. quirkly unexpected games and stuff to just enjoy by just looking at it.

nowdays you have to "appreciate" the "Story" and the "voice acting" and the "emotions" of the game for some reason. like I don't need that in every game. I can get that from movies and tv shows way better.

some of these are probably xbox or other fanboys that liked seeing it bomb anyway lol. but thats not me I just want my cool playstation exclusives again.

The more American Sony becomes the less variety we'll see.

yes unfortunately the leadership has been inept for a while now since jack left. and it shows in the games uniqueness.

Yep. Polyphony, Guerrilla, Naughty Dog, Kojima, Santa Monica and Insomniac are the only AAA studios that PlayStation needs,

Give all the other resources available to fund new games of the scope of Concrete Genie, WiLD and the guys of Project Siren for example.

Non-diversity? I mean Spiderman, The Last Guardian, SotC, Gravity Rush, God of War, Uncharted, Tearaway, muthafuckin' KNACK, Bloodborne, Alienation, Ratchet & Clank etc, etc etc. Sony has been kicking ass with giving us a diverse range of games with different themes and settings. Now whether you like some/most of those is a matter of opinion, but Sony is not lacking for a plethora of unique exclusives.

only last guardian and knack are first party here. rest are third party exclusives. I mean thats what two three games in an entire console generation?

not a whole lot to talk about. please do not make these silly list wars and have a bit more of a substance to your comments or trust me I won't see them again.

Lol, your argument is silly to begin with complaining about "non-diversity" when it's simply not true. First party of not, there are a ton of exclusive games across many different genres that can unfortunately only be played on PS4. It's not list wars, it sounds like you are just a jaded ass person that doesn't want to see the truth of the matter.

Also, I could not give a shit if you don't like what I'm typing.

I can only guess those same people doesnt have much games to play.

But on a serious note, kinda sad for the game. But its not like its a big deal, since there are a lot of games there to play. Sincerelly dunno where this drama is coming from.

It's very healthy and necessary to criticize the missteps and more importantly the wrong direction a company is heading in order to ring the danger bell as soon as possible. That's what a true fan is about IMO.When you are praising everything a company does regardless if you disagree with their decisions (or you convince yourself that you agree) just because they are your "favorite company" then you are a blind fanboy (btw i'm not talking about you Verdanth :) ) and you are actually doing more damage than good.

Of course there are always fanboys (like the OP from the other thread) from every "camp" who will love to have a party with every misstep the "rival" company does just because they made a misstep whatever that misstep would have been. The difference of those fanboys with the actual fans is that although they both can criticize the former only care to celebrate the negative outcome while the later care to look at the source of the problem and criticize it.

Woah, that was fast...No time to breathe huh, no time to let the dust settle.......It's a 7/10 game, it's not the worst scoring Sony game this gen......

I enjoyed 1886 and especially DC to no end....DG is an SP game with great graphics and addictive gameplay and more content to come at no extra price......Yeah, I'm there tbh.....Whatever jived with me about days gone when I first saw it, still does now.....

I feel like I’ve missed something. I went to bed last night and the two reviews we got were over 8, and people with the game early loved it, now I wake up and “the game bombed.” What are we referring to? Sales? Review scores? So far I’ve only seen one review mentioned in this thread (6.5 from IGN, which is unfortunate)

Edit

Just saw other thread title that it got a 5 from GS.

I guess I have some catching up to do

You mean something innovative and diverse such as "Dreams" which came from the ppl tht made Lbp the game tht was copied by the likes of spark, Mario maker, etc or how about the awesome Astrobot, or getting Spiderman as an exclusive, hmmmm MLB the show, etc...

Diversity is not Sony's problem bet tht, look at the others for tht.

Instead of zombies Bend shouldve went with aliens. I think to differentiate themselves from the last of us. Maybe a rebooted 3rd person Resistance. The setting coulve been humanity's last stand in north western united states.

I think the fanboys are celebrating because they had the impression that Sony first-party studios were infallable, especially in comparison to the likes of Microsoft's first party efforts as of late.

i guess the game itself mostly okay due its okay just badside of it(its developer hindsight or future sight like they forgot to test its game itself and i would guess the game needs a Reviewer's Patch(Day One version) to make it more stable..... + they have wrong time too(with WWZ well its same genre using zombies)

And another thread?

We always had low scores games like The Order and Knack... seems like others fans that can’t accept their games having low scores.

Lets put a common logical fallacy to bed, here and now:

Projects failing, or simply not doing as well as expected helps nobody. Especially it isn't going to force the publisher behind it be more adventurous and dust-off old franchises. What in fact happens is usually the opposite, they get more conservative and risk-averse so as to recoup losses and get back on the path of success.

Failures tend to be exemplary to the whole industry too, so its not something that should be celebrated by anyone, regardless of platform affiliation.

Some fanboys must be dancing but I've still got plenty of great Sony exclusives to play. I wasn't really interested in another zombie game anyways and TLoU 2 is around the corner.

Every game you mention there is a third person action game. That is not diversity. The only strand of a point you have is there are a few third person platformers in there....

Not surprised, it was generic as hell since day 1 and i knew it was going to bomb and honestly kind of glad it did. This is coming from someone by the way who's game of the generation is Bloodborne,

I barely know anything about this, and what little I do know / have seen, it just seems like any other big budget, somber action game. I think you may be onto something, OP.

What are you talking about. How is tearaway, gravity rush, uncharted etc third party exclusives. Have you lost your mind? Do you mean new IP? Dreams? I'd love to know what games you're referring to when talking about PS1 to PS3 then. Why do you bring up resistance, that was third party too so doesn't count by your own standard

Yeah, it sucks. But mark my words, that's the future of mass market videogames.

We'll have a few gameplay templates and making story and content will be the name of the game. Not gameplay design.

So Alienation and Gravity Rush play too similarly to each other because they're third person? As do SOTC and Uncharted?

You could also add MLB: The Show, Gran Turismo, Killzone Shadow fall and Everybody's Golf.

Ask me about my fanboy energy!
And look at those dislikes on anyone who didnt like it. Apparently, IGN matters only when they give a high score. Suddenly, Metacritic does not matter anymore.

That CD3 taste still got them salty the biggest Bomba of the year and this game still scored higher by alot. Also better than SOT.

I think people are referring to Sony WWS tentpole games; the kind that eat up the majority of Sony’s dev and marketing budgets. So, working backwards over the last couple of years: Days Gone—Spiderman—Detroit—Dad of War—Horizon Zero Dawn—Uncharted 4.

They ended their relationship with Quantic, so they dont want to fund anymore games like that. And the rest are, imo, very samey. 3rd person AAA action games with lots of story and mocap and rpg lite elements. They have a template, and some of us find it dull. Most of their fanbase like them, so I doubt they will change focus.

I don’t understand what this is supposed to imply/justify.

It's sad ppl think a game in the 70s is bombing lol. Just makes you not take their word seriously.

I also think he put the BB reference to seem impartial. But we all know tht means shit. Thts like a racist saying "I'm not racist because I have friends of a certain race"
