I can't speak for the mod team but this was actually a common thing during the 2017 purge.
Reset traitors were editing every Community thread and basically filling them with hate messages or spam for Resetera. For the most part, I believe they've all been cleaned up. It's only the recent renegades who throw away their account does it show up noticably.
Don't forget all the gay porn. The holy trifecta of social justice virtue: calling me a rapist or whatever other falsehood and encouraging me to kill myself, posting gay porn, and advertising resetera.

Nowadays those making the long boat ride back to GAF only advertise ERA. A remarkable improvement from a place where none really exist (ERA).
It was also low quality porn too, so the level of standard that was to come from quite a few of ERA's members was already set in stone.

Oh so there is a thread about this whole situation. I was wondering if it would ever be addressed in any light here and I'm glad to see the transparency of the NeoGAF staff being a big part of what's going on now here.
I wasn't going to make a post here, but there's always been something on my mind ever since the incident happened two years ago. I left, like many other's did after hearing the allegations. At the time, I bought into it and decided that I was going to take a break from GAF. I did so. I never took part in the raiding or the spamming (we call them riots on IGN for good reason after all). I thought none of that was ever any good or did nothing for the community at large and would just make the moderators here work even hard to keep the peace.
Flash forward a year and ResetEra is a thing now. I've been lurking here & there and only used it as a means to gain information on games. I noticed that the forum had a much left-leaning stance on things and while so of the things they posted in regards to SJW stuff I agreed with, there were a lot of things...A LOT of things there I thought was just either babyish or just plain uncalled for.
I've been doing community management for a long time now. Ever since the gamergate shit hit the wall. it's like the entire world has changed. People berating other people for how they talk or how they act. How they feel and how they intereact with people online. It's certainly changed the game when it comes to online community management and how sites like Twitter, Facebook, NeoGAF, and ResetEra take to approach these issues.
The way I've always seen it: as long as you're respectful, you're always good in my book. But, now we're seeing otherworldly personalities hit the limelight. I think, in a lot of ways, the change is what caused Trump to be President. Or how many of the right AND left how come out to be racist (whites hating on whites is a thing I'd never thought I'd see). While I do like the people of ResetEra, there are some individuals there that don't see the hypocrisy in their words. Fighting racism / sexism with the opposite racism / sexism doesn't do any good and will win you no battles.
I guess I'm rambling, but I just wanted to clear that from my mind. There's more I could talk about, but it's nice to finally be able to come to a place on the net and be able to clear my thoughts. Sorry for the the thread bogart. I just wanted to get it off my chest.

He has plenty of Era's banned games in his Steam library and on his wishlist including Criminal Girls, yet is a mod on a site where the active userbase "side-eyes" anyone that consumes that type of content. I bet the regulars of the women sexualiziation thread would be less comfortable posting there if they knew, yet those same posters seem to think they have carte blanche to do anything because they're all protected. Dusk would probably get demodded sooner than them suffering any kind of consequences if they decided to attack the staff over it.

This is true, but there are additional banned games that are not banned on Twitch. Gal Gun, two of the Sengran Kagura games, and a bunch other I can't remember. I'm sure it's in the TOS.

So many of those people matching that seem incapable of considering the other side, other viewpoint, or someone discussing the opposition with them.

No game is specifically illegal in USA. There are gray areas with obscenity, but not only is that not enforced outside of VERY specific cases, you will never get arrested over talking about it on a message board.
Edit: Like seriously, Rapelay got a friggin AO rating here, meaning it could legally be sold even if not on consoles or at most retailers. Fiction isn't nor shouldn't be illegal no matter what it depicts.

I didn't sign off on it, no. Some of the paradigms back then were dysfunctional, and lack of much direct communication with the community was one of them. In hindsight the ex-mods would refrain from bringing things up with me if they thought there would be pushback in many instances.
