What a terrible reveal. I mean, really?

Generic Marine nobody cares about: Look it's chief out the window! Better plug chief in! He's alive!

Chief: Time to fight. *fade to white*

Horrible. The worst Halo reveal in the history of the franchise. Maybe 343 just doesn't have the chops.

I thought the first showing with the engine demo was much more interesting, more ancient mystery, hints at a wide world. This looks more like tropeish Halo, "it's time to fight" blah blah. I'm more in it for the deep alien mystery side than the popcorn flick side.

But, it's just a small trailer, so it doesn't color my opinion on the full game. They also have a history of trailers not being a part of the game.

I thought 4's campaign was an ok setup for their first entry. 5 went off the rails and ignored everything that had been building towards it. I love the lore of Halo but this one will really make or break if I keep caring about it. Hopefully wrap up this Created side story, keep Cortana dead forever once and for all, and then move on to the good bits with the second judgement of the Precursors.

Glad some people agree. A company the size and power of MS, 3 years of development, and we get an average looking dull trailer set in a tiny generic grey insides of spaceship, that has already been designed and shown in countless previous games. The Chief armor wasnt new, that's been done before, and actually looked like it was made in the character creator in Reach. Considering the time we've waited, this was embarrassing. They've got nothing. And they're gonna finish it all in a year and a half, on a new system? Horse shit.

Alittle hyperbolic Imo. I doubt what was shown was running on a Scarlet Dev kit. Most likely Xbox One X.

Yes but the entire game is held back by having to run on a 9 year old system (by the time december 2020 arrives).

Isn’t all games held back when they release on both consoles though, It’s kind of common when we enter the transition phase of a new gen. I don’t think they would hold out the game for fans who can’t transition yet or wait another year or two to release it.

It didn't show much but I do love the new "basic" style. They went overboard with glossy neon look in both 4 and 5.
This is much soothing and relaxing to eyes - not too busy. 👍🏼
I want Halo that looks like halo 1-3 and not tech demo for Scarlett.

I’m a big Halo fan and the trailer was ok. We still have one more E3 to go before the game is released. Next E3 should be the big gameplay reveal. To me, the coolest part was seeing Cortana’s chip in the Chief’s hand and at the end when the Chief is walking up to a Halo map, which I thought looked amazing.
Yeah that part gave me chills reminded me so much of halo ce

They were using ray tracing in some parts of the trailer but not all. Created this disorganized image quality, I do believe however all that was realtime on next gen devkit.

Graphics not at all impressive. Tlou 2 and Death Stranding look more impressive running on ps4

Fair enough, those names look excellent too and I don’t see why they wouldn’t compete, I thought Halo infinite from the very little we saw looked really good and could rival those games, but the scope will be a limiting factor, don’t think death stranding TLOU 2 will be trying to achieve the same scope this is.

Again we haven’t seen enough to make a firm judgement, especially if it’s running at 60 FPS

The only word that came to mind was uncanny, i watched the trailer at least 50 times now. The game looks amazing but the classic art style might be whats throwing me off, it looks too clean, chiefs armor looks plastic when i first saw it.

But then that changed when this happened.....

I think that's what settled me into what was going on, it was the first time i think ever we got to see the weight of chief. The bulk this heavily armored super soldier , for some reason it immediately hit me that he's wearing a suit that weighs a ton.

Then of course this shot...

hi_e319_twtr_excitedpilot-cd718c1d69d24801963423887f51fbc5.gif

I really hope that's the opening or the environment looks like this. It really looks like you can go over and pick up that tool. or rummage through those cases. It looks amazing and i'm into it. I'm under selling it this looks fantastic to me.

The classic style halo mixes with like Alien Isolation , but grainy, i like it and the more i've watched it, its grown on me.

One thing they need to change though is chief thigh armor i would round those a bit maybe shorten it. Same with the forearms maybe make those thinner. But otherwise i dig it. But i got to see more im very interested too see what the covies look like with this style.

So why show it after the scarlett segment and imply its nextgen first look? I know its cross gen but I don't buy that it was current gen footage.

It's a next-gen engine with cross-platform capability. The same segment will have to run on XB1 or else they wouldn't have said it would also be released for current gen.

If this needs to run on Xbox one I’m dubious much new can be brought to the table.

Targeting the new gen could have afforded higher enemy counts, better ai, physics, a highly dynamic and reactive world.

Instead it will just be a prettier veneer.

It's totally dumb. I felt like Spencer made it sound scarlet only on stage, then Greenberg told Keighley it's back compatible 10 mins after on his post show. Terrible messaging.

Looking at this trailer on a 2K monitor is a site to behold. It looks fantastic and this is just a small room. I couldn't imagine what the environments will look like. Also consider that this game has been rumored to have a pretty open world. to it, we are looking at just a small fraction.
Yea, I rewatched it too. Looks beautiful.

Downloaded the 4k/60 vid, it really does make a difference, especiallin texture quality. The graphics have this certain sheen to them, a certain look, i like it. Would of loved to see some open world areas on Halo itself though, thats where i think it would really shine.

Yep. I was shocked to seeing BruceLeeRoy on Ree praising it. He’s very hard to impress lol.

If in doubt, 'post history' it out.
The teaser was a teaser, and very similar to the Halo 2 teaser than people used to rave about. I was dissapointed to not see some open areas though, i think that would of impressed people a lot more.

They will show more of that next time I’m sure.

I still don't see why Halo has to be 60 frames per second anyway. And never was in the past. It was always about delivering great gameplay and great visuals. I think Halo 5 prove that you can have one but have to sacrifice the other.

What we have here is a demo. This might not even be the actual game itself. Remember Anthem? Need I say more?

I liked last years video a bit better but this was alright. I also like seeing the "the weight of chief".

I hope they do something different with the campaign. I want something that I can play for awhile not just a weekend. I'd like to really explore a Halo, doesn't have to be an RPG but just a realization of the first Halo's sense of openness.

I liked H5's MP so I hope they keep some of it's elements.

Also do we know why Chief is Floating in Space, something in the books I missed?

Why is his armor different? Why is the art style different? Why does this look more like a prequel? I think it's very confusing so far.

I'm a huge Halo fan. I used to be in a clan and played Halo 2 and 3 way, way too much. I've finished all the games on legendary (maybe not the last 2, I can't remember), etc. It's maybe my favorite series (especially the old stuff). I used to have books and comics and my kids have some toys. It's not that I don't like Xbox, I game on Xbox exclusively. I just thought the reveal was horrible compared to the awesome Halo reveals of the past.

The in-engine tease last year was cool, I thought, as an engine demo reel or whatever. But this as Halo: Infinite's first moments on-screen were truly disappointing to me to as a long time fan.
