Dislike Sonic games. Platform games are amongst the ones I like the most, but Sonic games were made just to look cool, not to have fun. It was because of the war with Nintendo, so you had to come with something like Mario is a fat plumber, ours is a fast animal with an actitude, look how fast he goes. But you don't have fun with Sonic. You can not enjoy the art of the levels; you are penalized for exploring, most of the time you can not even control the direction where he goes (like the direction after he bounces), you only have to press the forward button to reach the end without doing anything in between as fast as possible. I have many Sonic games for 3DS, but don't play those very often
Overhyped game: Donkey Kong Country Returns: bad collision (wrapping volumes don't seem to coincide with what is shown), unfair, some events that are necessary to collect things seem at random, etc. Yet everybody talks marvelous things about it. Beautiful art and varied levels though
Rant apart, some old DOS games; I can not say it was a bad game, but not many people seem to know about it: Street Fighting Man (not Street Fighter). I enjoyed it but it does not seem to get much recognition. A non linear brawler that gave us an early glimpse of an open world an exploration. By the way, missing 'Nightmare on Elm St.'
Barbarian for DOS. There is another different Barbarian for Commodore and 8 bit devices, but Barbarian for DOS which also has a version for Amiga was criticized, I enjoyed it though I didn't finish it
There is a game that appears in a youtube video from Lazy Game Reviews, amongst the top 5 I believe, of the worst PC games. I think the art looks beautiful. Speedrage; I own a copy
Same as movies, many games get bad press for the wrong reasons. There is a Larry game (don't recall the name right now but I believe it was something like Office Bust). The game works fine (not 'glitchy'), there is enough to explore, decent art, but because of the previous game, they decided to remove most of the sexuality. When people buy a Larry game that's why many people get it. So if you buy a game because of fan-service and don't get fan-service, then is a bad game. Not a favorite, but I don't think is a bad game by itself
Older DOS (all DOS games are old), Hard Hat Mac. Not 'panned', but seems like many similar games were more accepted (Jumpman, etc). Not many levels but enough variety, and kept me entertained. Fond memories.
